ShadoWeaver Challenge Results

"But Father, it's long since passed midnight." Why even bother refuting it? Brash soon returned to the Outback, the same place he was earlier that night, and for the same reason -- to pick up his staff jacket for its weekly cleaning. He purposely left it their after his Sunday shift so that he would have an excuse to visit Monday night; he wanted to get a little practice in for the upcoming cycle, but -- and almost
expectedly -- that simple duty of retrieval completely slipped his mind with the time spent fighting and watching (Ria).

He had found his way through the back entrance to the DoF offices, and quickly tossed his jacket over one shoulder before deciding to exit with a trip through the main room. Pulling the door ajar, he found Matt, Jaycy, and a restless audience all waiting for their caller. Him. Man, Father's not going to like this.

He fitted his jacket on and took up a viewing spot at the bar, a place he figured safe enough with Matt and Jaycy's intending to use the entire room for their superbrawl. His first challenge match, attending and calling. After the bloodshed, the split tables and chairs, the dancing koalas, the fire, that pungent burnt-fur-and-flesh smell; saying his mind was totally blown would have been an extreme understatement. He had hurried home immediately
after the fight had ended, and didn't have a chance to post the results until a couple days later. And the Outback, would it ever be the same again? Brash's laughter quickly answered that.

Outback patrons and freaks of nature,

After the final shift was completed Monday night, March 27, 2000, Jaycynda Ashleana's challenge to Matthew Simon for the right to bear the ShadoWeaver Opal took place in what was technically a best-of-three format. Matthew took the first duel with a 5-4 score in nine rounds, but Jaycynda tapped into an unknown source of skill when she broke her arm -- she took the second duel 5-3 in ten rounds. The final duel spanned thirteen, culminated in a
Sudden Death showdown, and left the two combatants unconscious on the floor. It was Jaycynda who pulled away with the final point, earning her the right to bear ShadoWeaver. Congradulations, Jaycy, on your long awaited success! And Matt, for an impressive reign!

As witnessed by,
Brash Nillis, Esq.

Jaycy had spent the last few days in a daze; whether it was the win or the painkillers needed for her arm, it wasn't known for sure. She hadn't known she won the night of challenge, she more or less found out the next day when she wandered downstairs to be greeted by a round of congratulations.

She nodded and smiled, accepting them, but inwardly not believing it truth. Foremost on her mind, though, was Matt. Was he okay? She hoped so. Sometime during the match, for a fleeting moment, she knew who she was, and that this whole ... thing ... was wrong. But before she could act, and forfeit, the darkness took hold once more and led her to victory.

It wasn't until the official notice was posted did she believe it, and for a moment she felt guilty for taking the Opal from her friend.

The guilt wasn't to survive long, however, as the shadows took control once more and Jaycy peered at the message, black eyes taking the words in.

"Long awaited, indeed. The easy task is complete, Soon the real work begins."

The changed gypsy moved away from the announcement with a faint smirk touching her lips.
