It had been quite a night. Being the last one to leave, or at least the last one who was goina leave anytime soon, he turned and surveyed the Outback before he proceeded toward home. Or what was left of it would be a better way to put it.
It had been one hell of a Challenge match, that was for sure. One that could not be contained in the ring, and so it was fought throughout the entire main room of the arena. The match saw each of its contestants put through what tables were left of the previous' weeks battle, as well as several chair shots delivered by each, but the contestants were not the only ones who caused damage during the chaos filled night.
Sometime toward the end of the second match, or maybe the beginning of the third, no one was quite sure as Matt and Jaycy never stopped fighting till they both passed out at the end, the tazer wielding koalas decided to make an entrance. After a brief acrobatic display, things turned ugly and they began to advance on the OverMage and several other spectators. After taking a tazer blast or so, Avery let loose a blast of fire from FireStar, taking
out several attackers, along with igniting the floor and spilled beer on it. The fire was soon after extinguished, but the scorch marks remained on the floor.
When the chaotic animals finally retreated, attention was turned back to the contest at hand, which had proceeded the whole time, despite many injures to each fighter. The most serious of the injury's being the broken arm of Jaycy, yet another of the casualties of the night. Still, the battle waged on, and while some wanted to break the two up, others did not, and the match was allowed to go to completion, and after thirty-two continuos rounds,
there was still more to be broken.
Matt's reign as ShadoWeaver, as well as his win streak for challenge matches was shattered as Jaycy pulled off the upset victory in her third challenge attempt. After the final round of the all out brawl, both collapsed in unconscious heaps, and the bystanders rushed in to tend to the wounded warriors, and they were brought up and left in empty rooms to sleep.
And so the crowd of spectators dispersed into the very late night of Rhy'din and the mess was left to be dealt with later, probably by the next dueling shift, and he slipped out closing the double doors behind him, returning home to pass out himself, exhausted.

Of all the opals, his held the power. His was the raw force in design, meant to do nothing short of hurting. The others as could be seen had practical uses. To melt through walls, make the heaviest thing lighter than air. To control water, and have the potential to cause harm with freezing it. And then there was the one that controlled deception, that seemed to control light itself. Yet, none held the power that his did.
None had the ability to bring buildings down. To bring to life a power that could do nothing short of destroy.
If there was ever any doubt of the power, these last few weeks extinguished it. In two separate incidents, Firestar had shown it's true worth. Now, the outback laid in ruins. Charred by the flame, the floor was now burnt. Tables, chairs.... now gone. Of course the latest challenge match had a lot to deal with all this, but still, he had to take responsibility. He was the one to summon the fire to destroy the koalas. The creatures that always seemed
to come for him. He tried to hold back his anger, but the tazer burn bite deep, and so it was that several of the koalas met a fiery end. There bodies laying still on the floor while the fur and flesh burned away. Avery had told Rask to do something about them, and since he hadn't, Avery took matters into his own hands. The minor battle was set between him and the fury bears, and in the end, as in most battles, Avery was left standing over the
victims. He had controlled the fire. Or had he? He could never remember calling upon the stone to flare up. In fact after the first incident he spent the night in wonder. He had never commanded the stone to fire at Bode. It just... did. It used Avery's rage, and thoughts, and reacted on its own almost. The same thoughts that Avery had suppressed, as all good fighters could do. It tapped into a part of Avery he never saw. While Avery thought he
controlled the fire, it was almost as if it controlled him.
It was why he came back to Rhydin in the first place. He had once been in the town, for quite awhile actually. Yet, love took him elsewhere for a portion of his life. When he came back, it was not out of choice, but rather a need. A hidden need. As if something was pulling him back. Thus he found the Opal. The beautiful red Opal. It was almost an extension of him. It often reflected his mood, changing in color from a deep crimson, to a light cherry.
Avery had come to control the fire, but what he never knew was that the fire was controlling him. It was the power within the Opal that controlled him. It shouldn't be any surprise that a stone made for destruction should be this way. It was almost its own living thing, and it was feeding off of Avery. Using the kid's own powers to make itself stronger. Was this why it called for Avery? Did it seek a power unheard of, to use and gain power itself? It
was often that there were objects in the world that would feed off its owner, draining power. Could this power be one such object? To many pieces were fitting into place, and yet the puzzle was just now starting to take shape. The control for power had begun.
