The prophecy comes to light

The night was done, that was evident by the scene. The outback looked like hell itself. What once was there, no longer. The bridge hung by threads, Styx ceased to exist. The cover to the pit only ashes covering the inside. It was the destruction of Firestar that had caused all this.

It had become known during the final rounds, that Avery was doing more than just fighting Tareth. He was raging a silent war with the Opal itself as they battled for the power. The Opal itself was trying to persuade Avery to lose. What better way than to destroy the things he hates most. It was no secret his hatred for the special ring, and so it was the Opal looked to destroy. Its sole purpose upon creation was for this alone. Seeing that Avery was
still fighting to win, he took a shot at the Diamond itself. Yet the power within that stone was so great, that it only hurt the bearer, Kelli. It was later when Avery turned its focus to it, that it got its wish. Withdrawing his power he left him as weak as a newborn, and thus he lost. His full concentration given, Avery knew he could not fight both Tareth and the Opal, and so it was he took his last energies to stop the thing. In the ensuing
battle, he spent much of his powers, but finally got the thing controlled. Or at least he thought he was the reason it subsided down.

The damage was done though, the Outback laid in ruin. When all was said and done, Avery laid on his back in the center of the ring. Tareth by his side had slipped unconscious. Avery's breath slowly faded, as the people rushed around him. He was dying, there was no doubt. His last images were the diamond being placed around him, as he let out the smallest of smiles.

He had done it.

It was later after everyone had passed out that, they came. Casey laid asleep in a chair by her husband, her tiny hands clutching his, as he fought for life. They had given up hope, and so it was that they left Casey alone in the room to be with her husband. They knew he would be dead by morning. His battle with the Opal had taken to much from him. His battle for the diamond, had killed him.

They looked over the scene, as whispered the silent thoughts to each other.

"Is this him? This can't be right. Has the spell worked? This boy is dead."

"It is him, I can sense it in his blood. Sweet Bridgette, he is so beautiful."

Had someone been there they would have seen nothing, heard nothing. The two that talked were only there in thought themselves. One looked in awe, as the other looked in horror. One saw beauty and power, while the other saw only death.

"This can't be him. he is dead. The prophecy said he would be powerful. This boy is dead."

"Look," the shadows almost pointed out. "His chest moves. And look what is upon it. Do you see it. He has done it, the prophecy has come true."

"He will die if we do not save him, prophecy or no. This body will give out from whatever happened."

"You know what happened. Everyone knows what happened. Everyone on our world knows of what has happened, as from the early life mothers tell their kids of the prophecy. So beautiful he is. We must prepare to bring him back, to his home. Let us leave, and tell the council, so that the preparations can begin."

The two nodded to each other, and a silent word was whispered. Avery's body stirred ever so slightly, in the warmth of light that filled the room. Then once more it was plunged into the darkness of night. The only thing that took light to it was the Diamond, as it rose up and down of the chest of Avery. the chest that no longer had marks upon it. The body that no longer looked beaten to death, but rather like that of an angel.
