Where Have All the Opals Gone...?
Date: 6/11/2000 5:40 PM Central Daylight Time
From: Antonio Scarpia
Well, it was easy for Laura Ashley to pipe up and refuse my generous offer of protection from myself -- easy because she's already under challenge, and knows she won't have to defend her lump of coal for very much longer.
And Ria "the Dull Spark" Wells, or Nillis, or whatever her new last name is? She didn't say a single word, but again, there's a line around the block to take her Zippo away, and Bo Diddley is first in line (damn his oily hide). Apparently if Bobo slips and falls and can't get up, it's El Slow Poko's turn (that's Anubis "Place Spinkick in Mouth" Karos, remember). And I'm not a patient man, plus I figure one of these two will take the candy from the
baby.
So that leaves Kheldar, Daelin and Dustin. Dustin challenged me to a match already, though he didn't mention his Opal Moonshine when he challenged. So that's promising -- man has a pulse!
Kheldar I'm undefeated against (2 out of 2 doesn't say much, but it says more than 0 out of 2, so I'll take it), but he bears the hard-to-accessorize Opal Chevy Blazer (the green rock). One, I'm not sure how that's so different from my present Emerald. Two... I hate to say this... But I kind of like Kheldar. He's a straight shooter, and he fights hard and clean. Plus he got screwed pretty badly by the judges when he (almost) lost Blazer to clerical
errors. So I'm not that hot on taking Blazer away from him when he just got used to having it again.
That just leaves Daelin, the Overlord of the Duel of Swords and bearer of the blue (great color, easy to accessorize) Opal Ice Cube.
Rumor has it -- no one can confirm or deny, apparently -- that Daelin actually stuck Ice Cube into the handle of a new sword he made. This strikes me as being very inconvenient for him to remove, and therefore tempts me to challenge him just to leave his new sword de-cubed.
But here's the thing: Daelin is already under challenge from some flakey chick in that other dueling place (the one where they're too chicken to go mano-a-mano), and it would seem pretty weak of me to just pile on the guy.
And just to be clear, in the Outback nobody writes anything except me... In the Basement, everybody writes up a storm of total bull-hockey.
So what do I do?
Fight Dustin, who seems vaguely bland to me? Fight Kheldar, who's had it rough and I sort of already know I can pound? Or fight Daelin, who's besieged on all sides?
It makes for a rough choice.
Especially since I prefer to beat women, but both are already spoken for right now.
Ah, well. I'll let everyone know later tonight, I guess.
If you've got any votes, get 'em in to me!
If you've agreed to pay me protection, cough it up before nightfall!
All my love,
Scarpia

I keep having to tell you this kid, but talking smack 'round here gets you pounded. Do you need another lesson? If so, I'll be happy to educate you s'more.
On a related note, since I've been somewhat designated the "brick wall" of the Outback, does this make me some sort of official thug? If so, can I get a nametag or badge for the position? Pay rates can be discussed later.

This guy is hilarious... I love his expert analysis. Maybe he should start his own show or something...
Oh, and I wouldn't mind beating you are the floors of the Outback...
So, I am *technically* challenging you.

I just read a post by a kid who thinks he wants to challenge, but is incapable of making his own mind up for himself. God, but that's a mighty sad thing.
Scarpa, why don't you get some stones and decide who you'll challenge yourself. That way, when you lose, you have noone to blame. Better pick someone with a death in the family or a lingering illness because from what I've heard, you aren't that great a fighter as it is.
I think I'll give Tareth a few days off and beat the snot out of you myself. I could always use a warmup before I fight someone with actual talent.
Get stuffed, with love,

Well, I've got sad news everyone...
My challenge would be invalid, because I've only been here for a month so far.
The old boy system says Opal challengers need to be here for three months...
So...
I'll just enter Diamond Quest and win that.
Sorry to disappoint.
All my love,
Scarpia

Correction. Your challenge was invalid, another in a line of them that have come across my desk lately; this is a trend I am not fond of. I hereby request that any and all Emeralds thinking of challenging do so carefully and within the rules.
Sincerely,
Colonel Matthew Algiers Simon

Heh.
For all those who wanted to know. Seems this kid actually got up the nerve to challenge me..but, his challenge was invalid. Whatever..Anyway, if you really want to know if IceDancer is in my sword, come ask me...I'd be ready and willing to show you. On a further note, if you want IceDancer kid..come and see me again in a couple o' months..I'll let you have a crack at it, though I highly doubt you'll actually get anywhere..you may want to wait until a
few weeks after Billy and Tareth give you that welcoming party..because I imagine you'll be hurting for awhile..
Have a nice day.
