Ok, I need all the old duelists to come out for this one.
Most duelists, both young and old have heard of Bishop, I'm sure. I've never personally met him, but I know of his repuation.
My question is, why is Bishop known as Bishop? I'm aware that his real name is Fandral Kurgan, but where did the nickname of Bishop come from?
Curiously,
Sartan

::the guardian stirs::
I remember little and know even less... but methinks it had something to do with Fandral performing memorial services for soldiers slain in a war with the Imperium....

The commoner wanders by the ancient cork board. A sad wistful smile upon her lips as she pauses to read the question and the Guardian's missive, remembering. Taking up the quill dangling on its ribbon she pens a note, tacking it below that of the Guardian.
Sartan.
Fandral Kurgan, the Bishop as he is oft called by those who knew and remember him, once did apprise me of how he had obtained the nom de guerre, Bishop.
He started as a Lieutenant in the Vriandean Defense Corp (Naval Infantry) during the Clone Wars, but fought in many units under many names during the war (long story as to why). He always buried his dead, always according to the custom and tongue of their species/homeworld/faith. At first in jest, and later seriously, he became a bit of a barracks myth referred to as "the Bishop." As in, "Watch where you point that thing, Riggs, or the next sound
you hear'll be the Bishop readin' final rites."
Jona.
PS: The Bishop, one of the most skilled ever to set foot upon the rings sands, did wield a crysknife. Many are there who felt the bite of that blade, from commoner to Overlord and, afterward, shared a drink at the bar with he that is oft thought a legend, a myth. Those who have only heard his name and nae witnessed the uncanny skill with which he did wield that glittering knife indeed are a bit poorer for it. The bottle of absinthe oft preferred
by the Bishop remains safely enscounced in a nook behind the bar awaiting the eve he may walk down the stairs.
