::keeping this note short, and to the point::
To my fellow members of the Duel of Swords,
Let it be known that I, Sartan, do hereby challenge the Baron Darkness, the "Demon of Death," for possession of the Third Baronial Ring. If any wish to see my listing of Peer Wins, please let me know.

::in a bad mood already, so she quickly writes a note and slams it to the board::
Reasons, Sartan, the people of the Arena need reasons...so we can have a new reason to jump down someone's throat!

Sartan,
True friends don't need to hear reasons, they just stand behind ya.
Hope the challenge is accepted.

((Not a post, but kinda sorta a reflection on an unnamed man's soul, brought about the post of the challenge to "Darkness". Note that "he" is used throughout. I prefer not mentioning the character by any designation, as he is supposedly nameless, without any kind of tag showing who "he" is. It is merely in times when some kind of designation is required that the character must come up with one that he feels suits himself. Anyways, let it
begin....~The Nameless Player~))
::He reads what has been written and the reasons seem to jump off the page to him. Whether he is correct in his feelings, or he is wrong, he knows that it is quite possible that the 3rd ring could become another revolving door, much as the histories indicate that the 5th ring was when a couple of not-so-veteran duelers got their hands on it. He had expected a challenge to Rand, or Darkness, or "Demon of Death", whatever he is called now,
immediately when the standings were to pronounce his reign, although he had not expected it from such a relatively young duelist.
But it really didn't matter to him. His challenge was defeated. He had no reason to make another as of yet. He was still waiting, watching, and wondering. Who hadn't been challenged recently? Who would he expect to be able to beat? What would the community think of him were he to do this? What about that? They certainly wouldn't stand for *that*..etc. The questions were haunting him constantly between duels, and any other times he was in
the arena but not in the ring. In his mind, his career has already been associated with "Darkness" in some ways, but in many other ways, he was much different. But the only ways he could think of were negative.
Both had a "challenge" ahead of them. For "Darkness", defending his title was neccesary. For himself, the Warlord Tournament. He was one of very many, and being the top seed is never a good sign, so he had a great deal of work cut out for himself. He just hoped himself the luck of the draw, and the luck of the blade, that he might make a good showing, and perhaps leave with a prize.
Much had plagued him since his issue of challenge and the completion of the match. His writings were continuously mis-interpreted, and for that reason, they came off sounding completely different from how they were supposed to, but perhaps the community was reading in between the lines. Perhaps they could read into a writer's state of mind. As the though entered his mind, a chill ran down his body. If they could read that much between the
lines, he would continue to have these troubles, until he merely did not write anything.
After standing in front of the board for a few minutes doing nothing, he just slowly shook his head. These were odd times for him. Much was interefering with his dueling, much more than he ever expected. Slowly, he turned away from the board without leaving a note, so that nothing could be mis-interpreted, and headed back from whence he came, leaving others oblivious to the thoughts that just seconds before filled the area::

The commoner wanders to the cork board. She pauses as she peruses the missives, then tacks a small note to the board.
To the DoS community.
Does no one ponder the swiftness of the challenge to the New Baron? Is it now such that a challenge is issued to a new Baron before the Baron has even made known his alignment to the community at large? I know not if the new Baron, Rand Al Thor has made his declaration of alignment to the Overlord, to the Barons or to the Warlords officially.
I ponder also the seeming effort of the Warlord Adonai Uziel to keep his challenge to the Renegade Baron, Moralitor the Black from the community at large.

Common as they come.
