Ramblings of the fourth

Xyclone and anyone else who agrees with the warlord's thoughts...
If you should win Xy, just how long do you feel all nine rings will be aligned loyal? Not very, the people of the DoS will not go for that. Ever heard the saying "Out of order comes chaos"? Challenge me if you will for the mear purpose of seeing a "loyal" behind ring number four. What good would it do? Give you rank of Baron, that's about it. Everyone knows my feelings about our Overlord, personally I do not like him. so, why would i swear loyalty
to him? It seems that since declaring myself renegade, I therefore am against the DoS and our Overlord. Not true. I feel there should be a third type of Baron, a "neutral" if you would, which is where I would stand, but since there isn't I stand renegade, and will stay that way untill removed or Dalamar is removed from his position.
I can not help but be upset at the poor nature of this challenge, but that is my opinion. As for you saying "no disrespect" for me...I take this as a very large insult Xy. You are challenging me becasue I do not like another member of this community. What kind of role model would you be making should you win? You would be sending the message that, if somebody doesn't like your friend, banish them or kill them as extreme examples. Now, if I had
insulted you, I could see the reasoning.
As a note, I feel any who support Xy and his reasoning, also support taking away our rights and freedoms. What I mean is,I publicly made myself renegade. My right entirely. Xy is saying with this challenge, my being renegade is wrong, and I should be removed for being. The warlord does have the right to challenge for what ever reason he sees fit, but, I am curious. If I were to change my mind and give my loyalty to Dalamar, would he recind his
challenge? As I said, I will remain renegade, but I can't help but wonder.
Xy, I will see you in the ring and I will beat you. Dalamar, if you have any other warlords in your corner and if you are feeling threatend...send them now, or leave me alone. With that said...all of you (and we all know who) can bicker and fight.

Huma,
Gumgirl must open her mouth. I feel like going back to the golden days of yore, where I never let a post pass that I wanted to respond to. Where's Morgan when you need her? Huggles and smoochies, LeFay.
Anyways, by the wording of Xy's challenge, it seems to me he feels like alot of Warlords.. they have an affection for a certain ring. I can think of at least two or three who'd like to challenge, just to have their ring back, or because it was the ring their spouse had, or because a dear friend had it... or a number of other silly, sentimental reasons. I don't think that's so bad. Xy said he doesn't do it out of disrespect to you.. and I
think he means it. Disparaging him, and saying it -is- an insult, well, basically you're callin' him a liar. I think your words were hasty and rash, like a whole lotta mine. I have an excuse, though. I'm still young and fairly ravishing. I'd not talk about setting examples, then publically post a castigating response to the challenger, who was quite civil in his. Better to take it private... but, hey.. I guess what's done is done.
And I'm not one to set examples, so don't even go there. :*

Lord Dragonbane:
I think the Baron doth protest overmuch.
You stand in opposition to Dalamar, and as part of a house seemingly sworn to the same. You should expect challenge from Warlords loyal to the Overlord, and to complain of such, and look for further reasons, demeans both you and the position you have taken.
Your brothers in Questrion embarked upon the stated objective of removing loyalists, and partially succeeded for a time. The worm has turned, and now you seem to act as if it just isn't fair.
You'll forgive me, sir, if I find a tinge of silliness in that proposition.

As you are aware Ian, I was not apart of Questrion when they sought to remove loyalists. I do not particularly agree with everything Questrion does. In fact, I have even considered leaving Questrion. But untill I do, I support it and it's policies, whether I approve or not. As for being challenged, it is all apart of the title.

Huma,
Yer words seem ta carry a tone of worry. Are ye tryin' ta talk Xy out of challenge? If not den why try and convince him his reasons are wrong? He challenges ya cause he wants ta, fer one reason or another he calls ya ta da rings ta defend what is yers. I asked Daegarth ta do da same not long ago. He responded honorably, acceptin' my reasons as I stated dem. Perhaps he did not care fer 'em, perhaps he did not care fer me, but he kept harsh
words ta himself and dueled with skill in da rings. Ya have every right ta take offense, if ya perceive such, I just don't understand makin' yer complaints public and tryin' ta tell Xyclone he is wrong ta challenge as he does.
Xy,

Jeff, I am not worried, nor am I trying to talk him out of it. I am stating my opinions, I am allowed that. I don't like his reasons, that is my right.

To all those patrons of DoS reading this thread,
Let me first tell you all what exactly my position is on this whole mess. I once again shall have to stand against those that renegade to the current Overlord, a man of certainly great skill and honor in my eyes. However, this situation arouses a certain other few feelings. Although I have not been here long, and I have seen but one Overlord, I do believe that there is a neccessity for Renegade, or if so adopted in the future, Neutral Barons.
This is a mere feeling I have, but I cannot explain it. Is it like having good without evil, love without hate, and all those other cliché opposites. Without one, the other is basically meaningless. For this reason, I slightly oppose the removal of the last non-Loyal Baron, although due to my own loyalty, I do not mind as much.
There is another side to this issue that has not come out. What exactly has caused this mass loyalty? So far, it appears that all recently crowned Barons that could have gone either way have gone Loyal. Until Baron Uziel's anouncement of his alignment, I had thought him to be extremely renegade. I have heard that the Baron Dakness, Demon of Death, was considering a renegade status. I may be wrong here, but I do sense a certain feeling in
the patrons that aligning one's self against the Overlord would not be good for their careers. The only Renegade Barons in the past few months have been those of the House Questrion. And now their hold on those rings are all but gone.
As much as it appears that I might be having a renegade leaning on this, let me venture into another area. Let us consider that a single Loyal Baron has not lost their ring in a great deal of time. It is a testament to the Overlord's skill defending them, as well as their own personal skill. Note that the Loyal Barons AJ, Kaprielle, Luthien, Adeena, Jeff are all very skilled and experienced duelists. Perhaps there is something to be shown
that these 5 Barons have all chosen to align themselves Loyal. Perhaps DoS has found the best Overlord, and 5 of the best Barons, leaving only 3 seats to be fought over. I also believe that there is at least one or two other Warlords that deserve to be Baron.
What this means to the newer, inexperienced duelist that seeks the upper ranks is one of two things: That they will have to fight over a very small number of rings(one or two), or attempt to prove themselves by trying to take down a Loyal heavyweight, which has proven to be very difficult. I am not drawing any conclusions from this, nor do I know exactly what conclusions to make. I am merely putting it out as what seems to be a statement of
fact to myself.
I seem to have gotten off-track, so let me try to put this in perspective. Right now we have 5 rings occupied with veteran, Loyal Barons. One ring has an inexperienced Loyal, one is unaligned, and I know not of the experience(although I suspect it to be lower than the 5 Loyal Barons), and the last is held by a semi-veteran Renegade. I know not of Xy's experience, but I do know that he as never held a title previously, and I know only of his
challenge to Billy Ray Karnafexx. I know I am not Xy, but I can understand his challenge thusly: He sees that only one renegade remains, and feels that he is ripe for the challenge. He has no reason to be anything but Loyal to the Overlord. He sees taking out Huma as a last step to removing opposition to the Overlord. With reference to the above, he is one of many that is fighting for control of the 3 rings not tightly held by Dalamar's Loyal
Barons.
So what does this all mean? Xy's behavior is natural and excusable by anyone except those that wish to see what I have described not take place, which right now stands at about Huma only. I do concede that Huma's arguments have a basis, but their basis is that renegade is good, loyal is bad (or at least not as good). I cannot see how anyone who does not agree with Huma on the basis of alignment could agree with any of his arguments as posted.
I respectfully submit this essay to the DoS message board, thusly opening it up for public humiliation. I ask that if any facts I mention are wrong, that they be corrected without bias, and that any deragatory comments be kept to the mailing system. Constructive arguments and criticisms are, as always welcome. And I thank all of you that have been kind enough to read this lengthy message.

With Bias in response.
In interesting take on the subject, but not which is inherently wrong. Still, I think it is a testimony to a skillful overlord and should be rightly so, regardless of whatever respect I hold for Huma. If Dalamar has the loyalty of the barons, it is only because he has earned it, with both skill AND political savvy.
Xyclone, too I know to be a friend and team mate. He also fights on the same team as the overlord in the team duels. I'm not sure how the rest of the team would feel if he openly opposed Dalamar, I know I wouldn't much care for it (since Dal can be a bit moody at the best of times.)
Personally, as a supporter of the current overlord I can only think it would be a fitting honor, for both him and Xyclone, should all the Barons align to him. Not in fear, but in respect.

Mayhaps the reason for the number of loyal is nae the skill of the Overlord, but by chance nae wishing to face the number of lapdogs that seem to follow anyone claiming a dislike of the present Overlord.

Huma, darlin, I love you, you know that. But, maybe you went a bit overboard on this? These challenge matches have little to do with friendship or lack there of. Respect? I don't think it has much to do with that either. I'll stand by your side, but I ask you to reconsider your words a bit.
Buffy, I agree with your opinion about Xy. I don't think he meant any disrespect. I truely don't think anyone here wants to step on any toes. But it happens.
Iain and Jeff, I do agree with some of what you both said. Yeah, it's a bit silly and yes, Xy can have any reason he wants to challenge. My husband will not appreciate what I am saying, but I do think you both had valid points.
To the rest, I have nothing to say really. You each had valid points, and I respect your opinions. The Nameless one had some interesting ideas, a bit long, but worth the read. Var, I appreciate the wishes of good luck to my husband.
