::posts a small note::
Huma,
I dont u know u personally but i stand behind u on this one all the way. I belive there always need to be a balance of power in anything and for everyone to choose their loyalty to Dale, i feel this is destroying the balance of power. If i had my way i would help the balance of power by being renegade, but my skill and expirence is not good enough yet to gain a ring. As much as we would like a united loyal group of barons i will still be
cheerin for the lonely but significant Renegade. The best of luck to ya Huma.

Just a question about da neutrality issue dat has arose...
If Baron Huma is neutral, why den did he intercede against Dalamar during Adeena's challenge match? It was da choice of our overlord ta duel fer his loyal baroness and prevent her challenger's right ta fight fer her ring, Huma directly opposed dis choice and da Overlord. "Keepin' da balance" is not neutral. People have deir beliefs about intercession and should act on 'em. But in doin' so ya choose a side, unfortunate fer yer "career" as baron if
its da unpopular side.
Just somethin' ta consider....

T'would seem to mine own eyes that, should the Overlord make a poor political decision, he wouldst first and foremost likely to listen to his loyalists upon the possibility of changing said decision. The second most likely type of person he wouldst seem to harken to wouldst be those who did show him the obvious respect his title and skills should garner. Though mayhaps he wouldst be better guided by one who hast but little involvement in such
matters. But none the less, he wouldst least likely harken to those who decry him as 'arrogant', 'selfish', or 'tyrannical'.
Looking back upon many societies that I hast visited, I hath noticed that the granded of accomplishments in art, music, literature, and maturity hath come when the leadership of said society art united under a common banner. So wouldst it be such a terrible thing for all the Barons of the Duel to be Loyal?

Quck note to Jeff,
I stepped in during Adeena/Gnim's challenge because Questrion had said it would dupport Gnimish. Myself being the only Baron in the vicinity at the time, left it up to me. I would have prefered not to step in, but loyalty to my house required it.

I have often considered you a friend, so as a friend I say...can it! I'm sick and tired of hearing the bickering and controversy over every stinkin' Challenge!! Interestingly enough, I agree with Iain. Thou dost protest too much.
Like I've said in many many other challenges, we shall see who the rightful Baron should be on that night, and not a moment before then.

Duel well, hon.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to begin by addressing a few issues brought up here.
The Baron Huma DragonsBane, though a renegade, is still a well respected friend of mine....and his thoughts and opinions on being challenged are sacrosanct. Meaning his opinions should be inviolable....and not publically crucified by those that would see themselves as viablly opinonated within the community.
Not that having an opinion is wrong, Gods know I have more than a few in my time...but in this situation is it not a tad hypocritical? Place yourself in the Baron's shoes, alone as a Renegade, seemingly assaulted from all sides, having those you once thought as friends turning upon you in word and deed. Would you not also become a tad nasty?
The Warlord Xyclone is another greatly respected friend....one who's friendship has been tried and true throughout all my travails, and his challenge and attempt to bring the rings into a on alignment is also something that can be respected, so I for one cannot see why the posting parties seem to need to draw a border between *our* side and *theirs*...these men are both friends..and friends can be forgiven if their
actions become viperish and nasty...especially in Huma's case...where he seems to stand alone against the entire Council.
As to the point of the newer Baron's (I.e Me, or the Demon of Death) choices to align themselves Loyal to the Crown, I cannot speak personally for The Demon of Death, but as I stated in my posting of Alignment, I am loyal to Dalamar because he is my friend....as the Nameless Dueler had stated, aye, many of my opinions on what Dalamar does might seem of a renegade bent...but my friendship for him sees past that. I don't
expect that everyone will understand that...but many will.
I also would like to state that once again I cannot speak for the Demon of Death, but I have little fear of any *lapdogs* as the unsigned duelist so succintly put. I feel...as many others feel that a united Council would not be a bad thing, and mayhaps ease some of the seeming political strife that has marred the Duels as of late. It is was my hopes that the Baron DragonsBane might have joined us in this....but such is
not the case.
So therefore....unlike all others, I wish the defender, and the challenger, the luck of the gods, and may the best man win.
I am,

::Reading this line, infuriated, he simply writes::
I do not mean to post off topic here, but I must say I am taken to high offense by this comment, Lily. My wife is entitled to her own opinions, and yet she is the only one who was commented upon when she sides with the challenger. This is insulting and sad, for she has reasons to want Xy to win, as I have my reasons as why I would be happy with either of these duelers to be baron. These reasons are my reasons, and if I were to write them,
I might cause some disruption, and I have no will to do that.
However, my wife chose to root for a friend of ours, and she posted her feelings. I think that people getting angry at my wife (or at least comment upon) for posting. Is there some problem someone has with my wife, that makes her posts rude, compared to others? Please enlighten me, by sending me a private missive. I do not want this board crowded with my own thoughts and off topic situations.
I await to read many missives in the privacy of my own home, for this behavior and attitude towards my wife is very upsetting.
± Var Medici-Giovanni
P.S. So this posting will not be entirely off topic, I must say that I am probably going to side with Xy, on this case, for a couple reasons. The primary reason is after rereading the original post, I believe Huma was trying to put a bad label on Xy by posting it publically, saying why he thinks his reasons aren't valid reasons. I disagree with this, therefore, for other reasons as well, I shall root for Xy.

::swears, having planned to shut up on this one, but just can't avoid it::
::finally finds some paper, a pen, and drops to a sitting position by the boards to scribble her view::
My point of view may seem, on first look, hypocritical. I did have a problem with all of the Questrion barons turning renegade when it happened, so why should I have a problem with the removal of the remaining renegade?
I'll tell you why. Majorities. Obviously the loyalists have the majority already, but one holdout is better than a full sweep, at least from my point of view. As Luthien said,
"It is rare to witness a court nearing unanimity, and it will be spoken of and referred to long after the lot of us have been usurped or fallen to other demise"
Well, if I'm still around to speak of it, have no doubts that I will still be lamenting the full inbalance in the rings. And yes, for the record, when I'm a whiny crone of DoS who's long past her prime, I'll criticize every other full majority that may have happened, be it renegade, loyal, or House politics, to overlords and ladies I liked or hated.

Only three worthy people have had this ring. One is currently Overlord. Another has long since retired. I'm still researching peer wins.
Only three worthy people will have posessed this ring for a long time to come.

::in a seeming act of political suicide, he breaks his silence on this and a few other subjects::
I have held my tongue on issues erupting in this community for as long as I can. Having read the flowery definition of a loyal Baron seasoned by the grace and eloquence of the Baron, Luthien Tinuviel Tynsdale. Her words so define its meaning, and explain her feelings on the subject. I have an opinion on loyalty as well. Perhaps the proof of this loyalty was shown me this night, when a Baron, I once challenged, while doing an act I considered loyal to
the Overlord, called me his friend. He held no grudge; he acted as if it was water under the bridge. To me, that is loyalty. I had acted out of a misguided sense of loyalty; to a man that turns his back on the Barons he chooses, while championing others for reasons known only to himself. Dalamar stood silent as Ulath n Fici went untested against an honorable and yes, loyal Baron. One Heath Duncan MacCormack Justice being poetic did come back to haunt
him, as the now Baron, Ulath n Fici, did call himself renegade and stand alongside those Dalamar wished to squelch. Now there is one left, Huma Dragonbane. He stands by his convictions, and his dislike for the Overlord is no secret. For this I salute him, as for the unsigned post in this thread, I feel that I was used by the Overlord as the first of the lap dogs to attempt the removal of those aligning themselves renegade. When I did meet the Baron
in the ring, Dalamar was not to be found. It was close to three weeks later before I heard word from him and that was via a note delivered by a servant at the Red Dragon Inn. This man is a member of the team in which I duel within the team dueling league, and didn't tell me this in person.
I consider Luthien, one of my dearest friends in RhyDin, and I would rather have my tongue removed that hurt her, but I can no longer keep silent as one mans honor is ranked higher than another on these boards, and while I know the truth behind these challenges.
I find it strange that this same Overlord is present at each new challenge of his loyalists. His record continues to improve. He will retire a legend, and I do not deny his skill in the challenge ring, nor his political savvy. I do however worry that his desires are to himself and not the community at large.
There are others who have written here, that were plotting to bring him down, yet now claim their unwavering loyalty to him .
I admit my error in judgement. I have never kept my feelings to myself where a balance of power is tipped to one side of the scale. This unanimous council may well be had. It may serve the purpose of granting Dalamar the longest reign in the history of the sport. It will not however, benefit those of the community unless you wish to see the Overlord face each person that has issued challenge to a loyal Baron. The renegade has his place here. Where
all rings to be renegade it would be confusion. Were five rings in one house, it would create an imbalance of power that might benefit the house more than the community. As with these, so does a unanimously loyal council, tip the scales in Dalamars favor.
Before you cast expursions on Huma, look to see why he stands steadfast in his convictions. I now understand his frustration and apologize to him for acting as a pawn in this game we all play.
Having said far more than I should have, I bid you good day.

::Walks to the boards, her long gown swaying gently. Reads quietly, then pens a small note in her crisp, compact script::
Dear Miss Lily,
When one supports a dueler over another, tis not rudeness or should it be solely implied as such. I merely believe that Xy can, and should be the victor of this forthcoming important event...and with such, he gains my full endorsement. While both duelers are indeed skilled, my interest is in part, motivated by the political aspects of this duel and its' outcome. I admit that Lord Huma's postings have swayed me ever so slightly toward his
opponent. But fear not, tis not personal in nature, for I am quite fond of Lord Huma and his lovely wife.
While you may not realize such, I'm highly opinionated, and at times, my words are without flourish and simply to the point..as my darling Var will painfully attest to. I'm sure Lord Huma understands my lack of support regarding this duel and also that it is not motivated by personal reasons. And I rest assured he is not offended nor finds my comments derived from some, assumed rudeness...for I'm confident he would have communicated such...for
Lord Huma has a tongue in his head and fine mind, m'lady Lily.
I believe Lord Huma and Xy understand the politics of this particular duel, all too well and I have every faith that both rise well above the interests of a simple woman, such as myself.

::Eldritch enters the Arena and glances around at the fighters gathered within:: Hmmm...at last a chance to show off in public ::he chuckles and removes his coat tossing it onto a nearby bench in the bleachers...he nods at one of the fighters standing by the arena floor:: I say old chap...fancy a damn good thrashing ::grins and walks out onto the arena floor::
