Once again. ENOUGH!!!!!!!

::writes savagely::

Friends and those that are not,

Many have done this, but I do it again. We are all friends. No matter our houses or alignments or our creeds, we all come to this Arena, to vie good naturedly and live out a sport and create the histories and legends of this sport.
Its of no little consequence that those that have gone before us and friends that we once had leave this realm to never return, and it is of no little consequence that mayhaps one of the finest duelists, if not the most popular, threw his hands up in despair and left this realm, to never return, no matter the pleas of those that truely saw him for what he was.
They leave because of the perpetual argument that goes on within the sport...they leave because they can no longer bear the sight of the Arena, once proud in its traditions of fine dueling and finer camraderie, fall into the vast waste pit of an Annex to the Red Dragon Inn, full of viperous children out to make a mark and leave without a trace...and political gaming that cannot be confined, like a fire that engulfs a loved home.
I say this now, each and every one of you has been my friend...and at a time, this Arena was the greatest place on earth to me...as it was greater in times before my coming, and I ask why. Why do we let so great a thing slide into what this has become?
You may ask, * Well, Adonai...I really don't see any difference, whats your problem?* But to those that have been here....we see it. And no one knows how to stop it. Sometimes, things have a way of wanting to happen, and unless mortal men are wary, they cannot stop it, before its to late, and by then, the beauty has been lost, and pardon the statement, but Avalon sinks beneath the sea, without a word or cry, for no one notices
at all.
So I ask, no I plea.....let us end this malefesence now, let us once again, all be friends, and respect one another, for long ago in the dawn of days, you were happy to just see another dueler, but now, with the glut of personages, it seems that mayhaps we have forgotten our old happiness at the chance to strive and battle and drink with our opponents. And left it behind for, if more advanced seeming, more selfish and and
hurtful games.
I end this by saying that I in no way am innocent of these things, but I am man enough to admit to it and try to level the slate. I ask...who among you is man...or woman enough to join me in doing so?

::reads Adonai's extremely well written post:: ::pulls out a pen from his pocket and pens:: :

Adonai, patrons, friends,

Thats about the only single post thats made good sense in a very, very long time. I wish it were as easy to calm the political aspect of DoS as you hope, and I believe it is, but I dont think many others think its that simple. I believe its time to bring respect back into the Arena. I'm not saying there is no respect, because it still exists. However, the scale of honor has tilted in the wrong direction; people lie, and back stab, and try to
better themselves in other ways in the eyes of the public. I think what the Arena needs, again not everyone, but a lot of people need a dose of integrity. Be who you are, try to get along, if ya got beef with someone then thats alright, but you dont have to make it some gradeur war out of it. This "I hate you cuz you beat my best freind's brother's monkey's uncle in a duel" mess is outta hand. We all come here to have fun. Yes, it is competitive
fun, but its still fun. Even the fiercest of competitors have fun dueling, its a fact. Basically what I'm trying to say is that no one needs to stab other people in the back, start scandals, or lie or anything like that, to stay in the public eye. Even more so if you want to be favorable in the public eye. Anyway, enough of me.

Yours, all of you,

Sir Leo Caius Cassius Pride,
Warlord of Duel of Swords
Jade of Duel of Fists,
Enchanter of Duel of Magic.

Well, shoot. Everyone knows I'm a general misfit, and I'm usually just spouting goofy bits of stuff...But I agree with Adonai that the arguements have to stop. Let me ask a question, Doesn't it bother you to read arguement after arguement? Or do you simply skip over them now, not having the patience for much more?
Do we need to keep tearing other duelers down? Can we continue to let every little suggestion to change things become a personal attack? I don't know....I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel..
I will work towards making things better as I always have. I will continue to try and teach new duelers as they filter into our community. Maybe it will make a small difference, maybe it won't..But I'll keep trying anyway.

Friends and others,
I have not always agreed with Adonai, but I am sick o' all the backbitin and stoopid things that be goin on in the duels. Even when ye ask a dueler te abide by the rules, ye usually get some snotty reply. this grand land is a place that is home te many o' us, and i fer one would like te keep it a peaceful realm. I'll nae pretend the I like all others who bide here, but I would say that I try te treat all with Honor and Respect. tis the way that i
would like te be treated. I dunnae expect te be liked by all, but I would appreciate courtsey towards meself. If we all treated each other with common courtsey, much o' the misunderstandins and other crap would dissappear. Jus me thoughts on it.

As she reads, a quiet 'tsk' escapes her lips. Murmuring to herself as she tends to do..

"Adonai, dear Adonai.. if ye speak of everyone being friends in one posting, then turn around and chide every small thing from other people that ye dunnae even know half a cent about, how in the world do ye expect anaone te take ye seriously?"

Still chuckling to herself, she makes her way home.

I am glad that this has been recieved in a fairly pleasant manner, and that it has at least made a few people think about things, and as I said in the post itself, I am in no way innocent, as I have participated in these things also.
But as for hypocrisy, I believe I have more than stated the fact that I am well aware that I have been at the crux, or at least involved in some of these arguments.
Last night I spent the evening in heated debate, with several very well respected duelists, defending a friend of mine, who has been my friend for many a moon now. But I feel that this argument was more along the lines of a debate, and I found it to be much more constructive then half the snide, unsigned posts I have seen on this board.
So aye, call me what you will, it doesn't change my want to see things bettered. And my willingness to defend a friend changes it very little, more the respect I have for the man that will confront my views directly in the cut and thrust of coherent debate, then the one that will hide behind the written word.

Well, at least you didn't try to deny the existence of last night's....discussion, to put it in the most general sense. Everyone who was there can interpret it however they like, and those who weren't there...maybe you could accept that, and not jump in to comment on something you knew nothing about.

Ya know, back home we used to have boards with notes, just like this. Some people would write about how no one gave a damn about respect, about how they just kill the nasty invading critters that would show up all the time in an attempt to make a name for themselves. Something like what Adonai wrote. And there would be more messages under it, saying how true it is, just like was done four or five times in this case. But you know what?

The people that needed to read it..never did. Why? Because they just didn't give a damn. They were always too busy trying for glory to take time to do anything else, like read. While the path to fame is different here, there still seems to be lots of people trying to tread it, and they don't have time to concentrate on anything else.

Save your ink, folks. No point in breaking a quill writing about how bad things have become that will only be absorbed by those least responsible for it.
