The man watched from the shadows. He had searched all over for the huge man. Finally he had found him... the man that had cost him his chance at happiness and freedom. The man was walking with a woman with red hair and wearing a black dress.

Dyvim watched intently as the man known as Kyle walked down the street. He saw him enter a school and waited until he left before going in and asking some questions of the students. He found out that the woman teaches there. Her name was Lanu Mirage... and she would be his avenue of vengeance. Dyvim would use her to get at Kyle. Now to plan his vengeance. He wished Kvin had not left... he had always been the one with the plan.

Dyvim smiled as he quietly watched the woman walking from the Keep... the one place she was safe. He followed her from afar. He noticed something odd: every now and then, he would see someone in the shadows near her, or in front of her, almost as if she had a guardian.

He watched for many days as she walked from the Keep, going to her house, or going to the school. He watched the shadow, as well, until he could pick out the shape of the man from many yards away.

Finally, it was time to make his move. He raised his blowgun to his lips, aiming for the shadow. He blew into the tube gently, sending the dart on its way. This time, he would only knock the Shadow man out... next time? Who knows...

He walked right up to the woman and said, "I know you. you're that Harlot what's been sleeping at that knight's house.." He laid his hand easily on his Katana, sneering at her.

"Harlot?" she repeats stupidly.

"Aye, tis what I said..."

"Kyle is my husband, and is the only man that has ever touched me, I am in no way what you call me." she replies quietly.

"If ya say so... Ya be pretty enough, I s'pose," he chuckles, eyeing her lustily.

"May I ask who you are?" she asks.

"Ya can ask anyting ya want." He says with a sneer. "Ya can call me Dyvim Tyr. Remember that name... so you know what to put on yer husband's tombstone. Tell 'im I'll be seein' 'im. 'e's cost me a lot... and I'll be looking to collect real soon."

He reaches out and touches her hair, "Pretty red hair, too..."

She pulls away from him quickly. "Don't touch me!"

He chuckles as he looks at his hand, which has several strands of her hair. He reaches out quickly, grabbing the back of her neck and pulling her lips roughly to his.

He laughs as she slaps him across the face, and then he watches as she hobbles down the street. His task complete, Dyvim hurries into a tavern to celebrate.

Dyvim had taken to watching the Keep all the time, now. He watched as the big man named Jon walked the walls. He even watched the woman leave and come back, but she had served her purpose. He was waiting for the one who had caused all his torment: Kyle Garyth.

He was just about to leave for a tavern to eat when he saw the big man walking out of the Keep. He noted the purpose in Jon's walk and decided to follow him.

Jon went to the place where Dyvim and the harlot had talked. he seemed to be looking for someone. Or something. Dyvim watched from the shadows as Jon bent down to examine something. The hair, Dyvim realized. He was looking at the harlot's hair.

Jon stood and walked in the same direction Dyvim had, then stopped as he noticed he was being followed. He turned just as Dyvim was pulling his swords.

Dyvim gave him just enough time to pull his huge sword before attacking. The big man parried well, but was no match for Dyvim's supernatural speed. Dyvim hit him with his katan, allowed his wakizashi to be parried then hit him again with the Katana. The big man was tough, Dyvim had to give him that. But even he could not take this much abuse.

The fight was over even before Jon could mount an offense. The big man collapsed, unconcious from the pain and loss of blood. Dyvim quickly looked around and smiled. He picked Jon up, threw him over his shoulder and carried him to the house he was using: the one belonging to Kyle's harlot, Lanu.

He tied the big man up with his sil rope and sat down to write some notes.

'Sir' Kyle,

You are truly an idiot... sending a boy to do your job?

You will find your large friend tied up in your "woman's" old house. Please... do send me more... I need more practice.

By the way, your 'wife' is very pretty.... perhaps I will teach her what a real man can do, after I have disposed of you...

You're pathetic.

::found on the steps of Kyle Garyth's Keep, addressed to Lanu Mirage, Harlot of Rhydin::

Harlot,

If you return to your house tonight, you will find a Large man tied up and unconcious, badly cut and bleeding. I believe you know him. His name is Jon Briteblaid, and he has the unfortunate displeasure of serving that wothless knight, Kyle Garyth.

He made only one mistake... he came after me. He will probably never make that mistake again... if he lives.

Please, feel free to tell your dear 'husband' of this... I have. I look forward to facing him.

D.T.

Keirin walked out of the room, having been quietly rebuked by his leader. He would not fail again. He went to his room and undressed, pulling out the trunk he kept in his closet. He opened the trunk for the first time in nearly ten years. Inside was his armor, just as he left it.

He walked to the bath, ran water into the tub and descended into it. He slowly began the purification ritual of his people. He began the ancient chant, wiping his body from head downward to his chest and on down to his toes, wiping all impurities from his body and his spirit.

After his body and spirit were clean, he stood and walked to the small room adjacent to the bath. He opened the small coffer he had brought with him those many years ago. Inside, the inks and powders were as fresh as ever...

After applying the colors to his body, he walked into his room and donned his Blue Dragon hide Chain armour. The supple armour seemed to cling to his body, molding to his muscled torso and legs. He reached into the trunk and pulled out his Sword, Athramael. He strapped the sword to his side and looked about his room, knowing he may never again see it.

He walked into the shadow, traveling quickly to the area where Jon was attacked. He walked to Lady Lanu's old house and found Jon tied up. He checked Jon, who was alive, and tended his wounds as best he could. He then laid the big man on the bed and made him comfortable.

After seeing to his friend, Keirin stepped once more into the shadow. He used his innate abilities and quickly located the evil man who was causing such problems. He thought he had arrived without arousing the man's suspicions, but the man whirled suddenly, his Katana slicing easily through Keirin's tunic.

Keirin fell back a step, whipping his sword out and Meeting the onslaught Blow for Blow. Keirin sliced easily through the man's chain mail, cutting his chest and smiling.

"First blood's to me, Tyr. As will be the last." Keirin stated simply.

"You're that Elf what got in the way... the Albino never would have taken me if not for your cowardly interference." Dyvim Tyr sneered at him.

The two circled in the alley behind the Scottish Inn Tavern. Keirin had heard of this place from Kyle, as well as the people. He had to keep the man from entering. He began a slow, easy pattern of slashes and thrusts, followed by skillful parries and ducks. Tyr countered with parries and thrusts of his own.

Keirin, growing a little impatient and desparate to end the fight, began a corkscrew maneuver, spinning left, then reversing suddenly to spin Right. Tyr, having encountered the move before, countered with a thrust at just the right moment, sliding his Katana through the spin and into Keirin's side. Keirin fell to the ground, pain on his face. He quickly passes out from the pain and loss of blood.

"Oh, no you son't... I need you alive. If you die, Kyle won't learn anything..." Dyvim said as Keirin lost consciousness.

Then the world went black.................

He woke up in a bed. He did not know where he was or how he got there. He looked around through halfclosed eyelids and recognized the room as the infirmary at Sir Kyle's keep. He struggled to remember the events of the recent past.

He remembered finding Dyvim Tyr and struggling to draw his own huge blade when Tyr attacked him. He remembered being hit fast and often. He also vaguely remembered falling to the floor as his consciousness fled him. But he could not remember how he arrived here.

He also remembered waking up once before, in the familiar surroundings of Lady Lanu's house. He remembered seeing Tyr standing over him, sneering then pulling his Katana and slamming the hilt into his forehead.

He stopped one of the servants and asked how he got here. They told him that Keirin had found him and tended his wounds then left a message with the Guards to come get him. Jon looked at them in shock.

"Why did he not bring me back himself?" He asked of no one in particular. Then, after pondering for a few moments, he knew why: Keirin was going after Dyvim Tyr.

Jon struggled to his feet shakily and dressed slowly. The servants tried to stop him, but he glared at them, cowing them to silence. He finished dressing then walked out of the Infirmary, going for his sword.

After getting his sword, Jon went into town to find Keirin and Tyr.

Dyvim turned quickly, sensing the man following him. He whipped his swords out, dropping the bag of rope and other items he was carrying. He moved back along his path, realizing quickly who was following him.

"You were a fool to try to take me on your own. You couldn't beat me last time, and you think that because you are fighting for another? You and your master truly deserve each other."

He moved quickly inside Jon's guard, quickly disarming him and knocking him out. He dragged the body back to his hideout and tied him up with the silk rope he had just purchased. Then he set about the business of torturing the man.

First, Dyvim reached for the dagger he always kept in his collar. He cut Jon's shirt off of him, not worried about the numerous cuts he makes on the man's torso. Chuckling to himself, he begins stripping the flesh from the man's left arm, pulling inches of skin off at a time until the man finally woke up.

"Ahh... finally, you're awake... now for the real fun." Dyvim pulls the big man's huge sword from the fire and laid it against Jon's shoulder. "Now to see if I can make you scream."

Jon, trained in discipline and control, clenched his jaw, expecting anything but what happened next. Dyvim lifted the huge sword up over his head and brought it hard on Jon's left shoulder. Jon let out a scream so loud and horrnedously filled with pain, the walls literally shook. His arm hung by a small patch of skin, which slowly tore away from the limb. Dyvim decided it was time to retire to his main hideout. He quickly wrote a note to the
pretty, red headed assassin-turned-healer, telling her where she can find this man.

The small man looked at his prisoner. The Elf had endured more pain without an outcry than any had before him. Dyvim smiled, thinking he would enjoy breaking the Elf's spirit. He reached for the hot poker again and moved toward the Elf's prone frame. The Elf watched him closely, gritting his teeth against the pain to come...

Dyvim pulled the poker back from the Elf's face. He smiled at his handiwork. Then he sighed. The man still had not cried out. Even when his eye was boiling in its socket. Dyvim decided that a fitting punishment would be disfigurement, not death.

He chuckled to himself as he imagined the once beautiful Elf with a scar across his face and his eyes boiled slowly from their sockets. He decided that all the Elf had to do to save himself is scream out once.

He looked at the Elf, placing the poker in the fire once more. "Not so high and mighty now, are we... No giant albino or pretty little healer to help you this time."

Keirin merely looks at him, hatred filling his single good eye, replacing the pain for a time. He struggles weakly against the bonds that hold him fast to the table, knowing he cannot break them. He stares at the man and spits weakly in his direction, not even having the strength to clear his own body with the spittle.

The small man just watches and then laughs at the pitiful show of defiance. "Please, even the big one put up more fight than this before I took his arm."

Keirin's eye widened, thinking the man had gottne to Lord Kyle. Then realization hit him like a fist in the gut. The man was referring to Jon. The big man must have come after him and tried to fight Tyr by himself. Keirin closed his eye, a tear slipping through the lid.

Tyr laughed and slapped the helpless Elf. "I'll be back soon, Elf. Then you will either scream, or I will take your other eye and your pretty face." He walked out, leaving his hideout.

::Addressed to Khrystal Death and posted at the Local Tavern::

Khrystal Death,

Because I have great respect for the things you used to do, and because you saved my life once, I return the favor by giving you the life of one you know.

The big man is hidden in the basement of his new mistress' old house. Feel free to come and get him.

Have no fear, I would not dream of waiting to meet you... I'm good, but I'm not foolhardy. He will be alone. But you better hurry before he bleeds to death ... and bring your healing stuff ... he'll need it.

Consider my debt to you paid... I do.

The dark man quietly approached the building. He noticed the guard walking around the grounds. He watched for the better part of an hour, timing the man's routine. Finally, he had it timed well enough he could do as he needed.

He waited for the man to walk around the corner, counted to ten and then stood and walked quickly to the door. He knew he had nearly five minutes before the man returned. Plenty of time.

Meanwhile, Topaz peaked around Dex, looking at the bag while Dex pulls his Rapier and walks to the foul smelling thing. With a swipe of his hand, Dex sliced the top of the bag. It tilted sideways and a pale object slips out.

At nearly the same time, Kyle walked through the door, a lightness in his step. He saw Dev and said, "Good eve, Captain... How did the Duel go?"

Dev, having not yet noticed what Dex had discovered, replied, "You don't want to know... I did my best, but she was tough."

"Well, tis all any can ask of you."

Meanwhile, Topaz and Dex, standing apart from them, look into the bag, Topaz through mostly closed eyelids. The pale object was a Hand, still attached to the large left arm. In the hand was a smaller bag. Dex, having jumped back when the hand fell out, steps toward the bag and raises his rapier in defense, then realizes the hand is not animated. Sheathing the Rapier, Dex walks to the sword pells and retrieves a pikeaxe and walks back to the sack.

Dev and Kyle, meanwhile, continue talking of Dev's duel, oblivious of the scene not 50 feet to their left.

"Shut up, you two," Dex says, disturbed. "Come over here and look at this." They obediently walk over. Kyle hurries and steps instinctively in front of Dev protectively.

They both look at the bag as Dex pries the smaller bagfrom the hand. Kyle turned slightly pale as he looked at the large arm, which had slipped completely form the bag. Topaz covers her eyes and turns from the gruesome sight, fighting to control her bodily instincts. Dev, noticing what is in the bag for the first time, stares at it in disgust. "What the...?"
