Thoughts about the new generation

Lords and Ladies,

I rarely post as most know, and usually when I do I just ramble about idiot things. Well, I have something to say, and I think it makes sense this time. I want to speak of the new generation of duelers. We can not stop the flow of the newer people coming to RyDin, in fact we should welcome them. My only problem is that some of them are checking there manners at the door as they enter the arena. Not all mind you, but three in specific I have seen.
These three are rude, obnoxious, and have no respect for anyone, not even the RDI's who donate time to our fare sport. I do enjoy seeing the new faces, it just bugs the stuffing out of me that we keep getting these people who insult us at every possible oppertunity. Why I was even called a coward the other day for refusing to duel one such obnoxious person.
These kind of people the DoS can do without. It's these kind of people who ruin tradition, start arguements, and make the arena a very umpleasant place to be. Time and time again, seeing these people I have considered going home soon as i see them in the place. Hell, I've considered retiring, just because I can not stand such rude behavior. Granted, I can be obnoxious at times, we all can. But I feel it's a sad person who feels they must try and
insult anyone from Baron to commoner for they're own personal enjoyment. Do they do this this because they are jealous of others and lack the qualities to make friends? I'm not sure. Well, I've rambles enough.

Greetin's Huma,
First of all, my fine establish dueler; It was an honor to meet you & your ladys presence the other day. You are a lucky man to have a fine lady with great wisdom & Beauty. Yet, I do want to laugh at you writings, for it repeats what I have said, but with a different target, the new generation.
Second, you give examples of some of my peers being rude & showing no respect to other. I will agree with you there sir, but the same goes with some, now remember what I said, some, yes some of the older generation are the same.
To Target this generation as crude, is shameful, for every generation had the same results. I enjoy this, the clash of beliefs & views, it is what makes duelin more of a competion. To knock down one in the ring without actually attempting to kill them, unfortunatly that is not the case outside the ring in the land of RhyDin.
For it is a duelin center created for competion, prove your worth & show them a good lickin, if ya can't then, oh well. In time if you are worthy, I beleive you are from what I know, they will leave you alone or kiss you feet. If they ask for a fight and call you lil unworthy names, do not ignore them, you are a trained swordsman, I believe it is not honorable to deny anyone a challenge, you are suppose to defend & to show us your talents
against your foes. For even I would think it is shameful not accept a challenge.
Now a question of your fears, do you fear the next generation sir, for you may be seeing that you were once like us, wild, full of dreams to become great swordsman. Knowin that one day your greatness might fade. Finding reasons to show we are chaotic just to hide your fears, fine dueler. That is my dream sir, like many others, are attempt is to create a legacy like you and others have. But, always remember, that you will always be a legend &
admired for your greatness, but your talents will fade away, so prepare, the new generation will take it from you...Til then... Live your Dreams.

Wisdom and beauty? ::chuckles:: Huma must have another woman around somewhere!

::tacks her two bits to the discussion her hubby started::

Hey all,
I know what he's talking about. You walk into the arena, in a great mood, only to hear someone nearby insulting a perfectly respectable member of our sport, because they chose not to accept that person's duel. Last time I checked, everyone was entitled to decline a duel if they wanted to.
Manners "new generation", Manners. Respect is earned. You can't announce that you are here and expect everyone to turn cartwheels for you. It simply won't work that way.
Honor and skill to everyone. May we all be blessed by the spirits.

::becomes angry at reading the dispatches pinned to the board. Walks up to the scribe and plinks down several coins:: Write what i say EXACTLY as I say it.::the scribe inks his quill and begins writing on the parchment::

Hallo Lords and Ladies, fellow duelers of the rings:

My name is Djef Morhgun of the Clan Morhgun, and though I have met some, and dueled again others in my two weeks in RyDin, most do not know me. I came here looking for sport, and adventure. I have found both in the Rings. I have noticed rude behavior, both from what I believe are veterens, and newcommers. I myself witnessed what M'lord Dragbn has wrote about. He turned down a duel, most honorably and m ost graciously, then was chastised for it?
::thinks a bit his fingers drumming on the desk:: I myself was turned down by another warlord who was looking for an opponent in the Rings. He did it curtly, but was I offended? NO! that man may have saved me from a skewering!::calms down and talks quieter:: I would believe that ALL duelists in ALL the disciplines are important to the sport. This is NOT war here, but SPORT. If you cannot be received into a clique, or whatever you people call
them, start your own. Someone started theirs. Give new duelists the respect and guidance they may need to honor the sport( they actually could use abit) but give the Barons and warlords the respect they richly deserve. One day you may be on top, or very well on the bottom. Would ye not want respect in either case. I have been insulted in the Rings, it is true. Both by the expericanced and inexperianced. Such are people though.
I would give one word of advice.....least you dishonor a man or woman, think how ye would feel if they dishonored you. and quit crying! sound like bloody sheep bleeting in the pasture!
::motions the scribe for the quill to make his mark muttering:: damn I may have said to much. I suppose I will find out when the Rings open again....

The "new generation", huh?
It's just old-school and new-school revisited, but seeing as that's the common theme, who am I to complain?
One little comment though....Huma, Aja, how long have the two of you been around? These types of comments are far more suited to those deemed "old-school"...which, if you'll excuse me saying so, you two aren't generally seen as a part of. But it's all a sliding scale, and who knows, but I might be seen as old-school next by the next miss dueler to walk through the door.

::walks by the post-it boards and looks to over a few of the notices, stops at one that sickens him to his very core::

"Baron" Huma,

Ya speak o honor an bein insulted by new duellers actin their own way within an without th rings to those tha have been aroun. Ya say ya deserve respect from 'em?? Nay, "Baron" Huma ya deserve nha more respect than tha ya show othahs. Ya wish ta talks about disrespect? Not too long ago, you "Rambled" about how I offended your so-called "honorable" personage who seemed ta be above reproach and that ah was jes short o bein a dishonorable liar
fer challengin one tha holds th fourth ring Renegade ta one ah respect as a duellah an frien'. In me most recent challenge, ah stated me main reason fer challengin ya, tha o returnin th fourth ta Loyal status, ya took this as an insult ta ya though ah stated mattah o factly tha it wasn'. Nha onlah dids ya fin' an offense ta sumtin tha was nevah present ya posted it 'pon th boards an mades public yer views o me....

Once ah called ya frien', supported annah challenge ya faced or made cause ah believed in ya. Friens an honor remain constant although times an personal ideals may change. Ya questioned me honor afore me challenge although ya knew me beliefs way afore then. If nha, since ya accepted me frienship, why dids ya question me honor? Those who nha me or evens o me, nha tha ah am honorable, an yer actions have made ya an enemy, nha worthy o th
freinship ah once gave freely ta ya.

In Short, "Baron" Huma Dragonbane....takes a good look in the mirror before makin annah sort o assumption o othahs behavior, for ya are nha role model an shall be deposed shortly. This is nha politiks, this be me vow.

Lady Aja...tis me fond hope tha even o small amount o yer grace an honor shall "Rub Off" on th "Baron" cause ya are a Lady beyon reproach o annah sort, perhaps ya coulds get 'im ta look at the Baron AJ, yer relation an' an example o th grandest nobility.

::tapes a small brief note to the board::

Why do some newbes show such lack of respect and curtesey? There is one simple answer for this. They want attention....they want to be noticed in such a big crowd. Most realize they dont have what it takes to get attention by skill in the rings and turn this into annoying every person that walks by. I have met people that have told me this (not naming anyone ;P) so i know it has to be true in some cases. Now about the old-schoolers who are
annoying.......lets just talk about that some other day.

Mmm Mmm Mmm...

How foolish and pathetic one can become when he learns that he is just as old, withered, foolish and hypocritical as a newer type Warlordian. He calls it sad that Warlordians do not choose to follow his own morals and veiws on life? Bah! I call it a happy moment of celebration! A time of showing that everyone is not a Lemming in a group, ready to jump off a cliff like the one before him.

Well Humaian, you have been secessfully disresepectful to me, or had you forgoten? Eh? Is your memory so weak and rotted with maggots crawling through it that you do not remember that you were just as much as a disrepectful little new-guy acting Warlordian as I have *always* acted? Hmm? Your not worth listeing to or fighting. In fact, I wonder why people like you. I know why people don't like me, it's because I don't allow them to like me (With
mabye, one or two exceptions).

One day, Humaian, Baron Boy of the DoS's Fourth Ring... you will wake up a dried up, witherd old prune and you look to the reflection of the still lake, and then. only then, will you realize how alone and misrable you really are. And if you think you will reort saying that I will wake up facing the same fate, or a dirt bed on top of me... I have always excepted that, and I... don't really care.

Oh... in case anyone of you were wondering,

I was the one who told him that he is a coward. But he forgot a couiple of pieces that went with it, I believe because he thinks it's true. I think Humaian is a egotistical, lying coward who swollows his morals at a chance to participate in a couple pieces of word contests of his own.

Honor... just a word.

Ally hon, I never said I was member of the old school. I personally haven't figured that placement into either group was very important to my happiness.
I was just saying that manners aren't readily seen in the newcomers to the sport. Maybe it's the "Older" duelers fault to some extent for not reaching the hand down to say.."Look, this is how things are done..Feel free to ask me for advice anytime"
Of course, the reason for lack of manners could be their upbringing. Who knows. I would like to see more respect for the duelers here that have worked hard to gain their postions. They have spent time here, and have a right to be treated respectfully.

That's my two bits

Mr. Agrenish,
As I said earlier, get ten peer wins and come see me, or shut your hole. I try to be respectful to everyone..everyone who deserves respect. Even those I do not like. You on the other hand are the lowest form of life I have ever seen. You do not deserve any respect what so ever for the way you treat those around you. So in short, get your PW's and come see me, or as I said, pipe down.

(( Ok, folks, I look around and couldn't find a description of the area & the arena, yet the other duelin areas have one, sad ain't it :p Have no idea where our boards are really located :: outside the arena or inside; So this could sound odd in some weird way, but who cares, its all fun...))

:: It has been a long day for this dreamventurer, seekin adventure is such a task & grueling event, but someone has to do it. He finally reaches the entrance of the arena & looks at the board to see if any more letters were written to him, He smile & realizes that his has not been active lately, but sees that Baron Huma seems to stolen the attention. ::

:: -- Nearby a young feisty girl is pretending to be a swordslady, slashin at the air, & speakin to her imaginary opponent.. Another man with a bottle of orcs ale in his hand, continuesly drinkin it like its his last is staring at the board, murmuring unknowledgeable nothins to himself. -- ::

:: Jake fiddle though the board seeping in the letters that were writin to huma, He scratches his head on the first reply thinkin to himself 'RP, hmmm, what is that, Ring Preacher???,hmmm, some things I do not know of in this land just yet, I need to go to the RhyDin Library.' Reads his again, seemin to enjoy his letter for some insane reason, laughin at his own writing. ::

::The drunken fellow stops chuggin his ale and looks at Jake, 'wha, wha, ye laugfi at?' , Jake takes a cig. out and then look at him, 'Not much, my drinkin friend, just readin my letter" - Drunken man 'Ahhhh, k.' , chuckles oddly & start gulpin down his ale.' ::

:: Jakes reads lady Aja response & shakes his head speakin to himself " We differ in opinions on what honor & respect actually means..." :: Finally Jake lights his darn cigarette & inhales deeply w/ many thought runnin through his head. ::

:: The lil swordgirl and the drunkered starts play fightin with each other, Jakes chuckles at the spectacle for he can see that the lil girl could actually defeat the drunken man if it were real. He turns and reads another signed by Djef Morhgan... ; Noding at time & shakin his head at other times :: "hmmm."

:: Then a sound of glass breaks & Jake notices the drunk is yellin at the girl, Jake turns around & tells him "Hey fella, take it easy, it was an accident" :: The lil girl gets into her stance shakin her stick, "Come & get me, the true Overlady of swords, try & get me" ::The drunk just yell oddities & realizes that Jake is staring at him madly & then grunts headin off towards the Red Dragons Inn.:: The lil girl yells "I knew you were a chickin!!!!"
::

:: Jake then sees an unsigned sentenced & starts laughin outrageously then quicky angered when the next letter used the word newbie! ::Speaks loudly "NEWBIE, How is a man honorable when he uses a defamed word like that, may the gods look down UPON him with contempt!!!" ::The lil girl tugs on Jakes shirt "Mr, please don't say that, my mommy said that is a real bad word" ::Lookin at him so innocently :: He pats the young girls head " Yes your right, my
lil lady, your mommy speaks the truth, sorry & thank you lil' one" ::

:: He notices another letter signed by Ally, & thinks back remembering dueling this talented duelist that defeated him with ease & chuckles, but Rubs his chin not understandin what she was trying to state. :: The little girl tugs on Jakes shirt again "Mr, are you a baron or even an overlord? ,I'm a swordslady" :: Jake smiles & kneels down :: "Not yet m' lil' lady, hopefully real soon, for I see a talented lil lady might challenge me for a spot real
soon." Little girl "Thats right Mr, I will be the great like Baroness D'Argent & Tinuviel, I am the next Baroness mr, so watch out, ya see what I did with that mean fella" :: Jake Smiles :: "I will m' swordlady, I'll tell others that you are coming" :: "Good, I gotta go, mommy cookin supper, bye mr. :: She quickly runs around the corner slashing the air wildly ::

:: Jake then realizes his cigerette had burned down to his fingers & drops it, then look at the board again, read what Xyclone wrote, :: He laughs & thinks "I see this huma has enemys also, funny, politics gettin in the way. :: Skippin over the next one to see that ally had posted another & reads intently :: Clapping through most of it with joy until the end & grunts a lil "Hmmm, what she tryin to say there, Oh well.."

::Finally read the last one, ::Just starts laughing & grabbin his chest :: "Now this is interestin, The battle of two gifted duelers, who is truly the worthy one?" ::Continues laughing for many minutes ::

:: Jake realizes that the light of day has fallenth & turn around to veiw the semi darkness, pondering what his future will lead to, chuckles & heads off to his make shift home near the RhyDin river ::
