The news was all too disturbing. First his nephew went searching for the Lady Tremond for reward, and then he kidnapped her for ransom. How could he face Marta to tell her that her grand-daughter is dead.

My dearest Douglas...

It is with no remorse that I send this letter to you. You know I have sought to take my own life while you and others tried so hard to protect me. This time, I failed you all. My heart bleeds as this letter will find you, I will cold in the ground.
