Fellow Patrons of the Duel of Swords,

I would like to inform all of you that Warlord Gnimish Gnimoi has challenged myself, Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon, for the title of Overlord. I have accepted the challenge, and the match will be taking place this Thursday, the 26th of March, at 9 PM by the eastern clock. As always, my defense will be fought on The Battlefield under the moonlit sky, and the honorable Lady Alais 'd Nitesong Sidhe has agreed to call the event for us. My second for this
challenge will be the Lady Ariana "Prin" Dragoon, and my Lady of Honor will be the beautiful Lady Sidartha Elgarette. I shall be dueling under the silver and black of the Oldest House, and I shall be wielding Vengeance: The Blade Half in Shadow. I hope that all of you can attend. It will be an entertaining evening of dueling.

sincerely,
Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon

Overlord of the Duel of Swords
Lord of the Dale
Guardian of the Oldest House

The commoner pens a short note, tacking it to the cork board.

In thee, Baron Jeffrey Oakenshield, the Overlord has a Loyal, staunch, strong, albeit vertically challenged ;), Baron. Audacity personified, Jeffrey! A spectacular and dashing final maneuver!!! Well won, indeed, Jeffrey.

M'Lord Gnimish Gnimoi,

A fine attempt indeed, Gnim, e'en though thee fell abit short. ;)

Lord Dalamar ArD' aumon, Overlord.

I applaud thee in thine wisdom to choose the Test of Worthiness as thee see fit ast be thine right and privilege. May thee continue in thine wisdom and in thine reign, Dalamar, and may the burden of the mantle rest lightly upon thine shoulders.

Jona,

Greetin's to whomever...
This is the New Schooler Jake Ryleigh, Many now know who I am just from my good looks, charisma, & my excellent dueling skills in the ring. Also, by my somewhat challenging nature to the Old Schoolers of the Arena. Well, after observing the recent challenge from Warlord Gnimish Gnimoi against Overlord Dalamar, with the interceedin of Baron Oakensheild; I have now witnessed the verry thing I look down upon, Old School Politics rearin its ugly
blade.
I first raise my dagger to O'lord Gnimoi for his challenge & his honorable acceptance to what faced him in his attempt to gain the ultimate seat. I will lower my dagger in disgrace to OverLord Dalamar for letting the baron Oakensheild fight his own battle. No one should deserve to be an Overlord, if they don't have enough pride to stand proudly with there blade & skills on their own standings. The same goes for Baron Oakensheild for agreeing
to this Old School philosphy.
While I may not have the skills to defeat these two at this present time, I will forever make it the ultimate goal to knock both of them out of there lil' pedestal & restore respect & honor to the seats they hold. Out with the Old, in with the New...
A personal note... Ater seeing your impressive record Baron Oakensheild, how could you lower yourself to such foolish beliefs? I would think a skilled swordsman like yourself understands that fair competion is the equal ground to show your worth. To the Overlord... I need not say anything more... In time, you will lose you seat & precious power with the knowledge that you were afraid of your own talents of worthiness.

::reads the posts, coming upon Jakes, simply shakes his head::

Son, you don't know what you're talking about in this case. You're opening your mouth and removing doubt of who the fool is. I did not see any politics involved, and your referal to "Old School" politics is both ignorant and sad. You're still basically new to the duels, so I suppose a few instances can be overlooked, however, I suggest getting facts before speaking out again, cause you're only making yourself look less intellegent.

As for restoring "Respect" and "Honor" to the seats they hold.. there aren't many who have been better Baron or Overlord than those two. And noones beliefs are foolish if they are their beliefs, and they hold true to them.

Basically, if you're trying to make friends in teh duels, you're going about it the wrong way.

Tosses a wink to Jeff, "Short, an ta' th' point."

She winks and blows one of the stashed targeted kisses to G, "Mayhap, th' young, brash, outspoken Jacob hast nae visited th' history room tucked away in th' far alcove."

Master Jacob 'Breeze' Ryleigh,

A wee questrion, Sir, if I may. Thee hast earned a measure of experience in the dance of steel ast attested by thine current rank. Do thee duel to the best of thine experience against thine opponents or do thee withhold a bit of thine learned and earned skills?

Cordially

OK, for a while, I've been hearing about "Old School" and "New School". Now I'm not so well-educated as many of the other duelers, so I'd like someone to explain the differences between them to me. Thank you.

Greetin' all,
First my reply to the Master at Arm, Jaems Triver about the differences of New & Old School. A quick suggestion, that Redhead, with the sweetest lil attitude in the arena, don't follow that idea. For Old & New school is on philosphy, not Generations. A New/Old Schooler can be new to the arena or have been here since it has started. It depends how they were raised to believe what honor & respect is all about.
While I feel many of these Old Schoolers fear the presence of some the New schoolers, for we may change the way the establishment had installed there ideas into each generation. Let me give you a brief description of what I would consider Old School Philosphy.
Old Schoolers seem to form an alliance to protect one another from upcomming challengers, by using a political structure, which is allowed by the for fathers of the arena. An example of this is the Alliance to the Overlord. The Barons now has protection & also protects the Overlord by using the Test of Wortheness to their challengers. They believe since this is allowed in the structure that is honorable to use it.
Old schoolers fundamentals beliefs seem to be that you earn respect from the years & outstanding performances. That structure outside the ring is involved to what happens inside the ring. They believe you must prove yourself above normal talents to have an opportunity to duel them. That they may decline to duel a lower rank until they see it is fit. The Old Schoolers follow the structure to a T & will use whatever method they may maintain. Old
Schooler is the philosphy that seem to hold the seats & is followed by many of the lower ranks.
New Schoolers are a bit more split up into different views with one another. New Schoolers are ones that don't follow the normal beliefs of Old Schooler, yet doesn't totally agree with other New School Beliefs.
New Schoolers are the minority views of the arena, until they join together or slowly take the seat saway from the establishment & maintain there views so that future duelers may follow their beliefs in the future.
So, if you want to know what one example of a New Schooler, then I shall let you know what I was raised to follow. I Do not believe you earn respect! Respect must be given to all that exist. If you are a swordsman, you still deserve the same amount of respect as the Baron, I might admire the Baron for his/her skills, but I do not treat him with more respect than a swordsman.
To lose respect from me is to deny a challenge from me or to challenge one of lower ranks. Always accept lower rank challenges to you, for the have courage, that is honorable, but nver request a challenge to a lower ranks, that is unhonorable. I believe that this arena is for the skills that we come to show the folks of RhyDin. This is a competion of the best swordsman & we are hear to prove it. That is when the Political strucuture come in &
taints the rings, & expeccially the Battlefeild.
Second, The Baron Renegade Huma is actually following a New School Philosphy, He did not choose to alliey with the Overlord. He has enough honor to fight his own battles & to truly prove that he is the best swordsman to hold his ring. He lets his blade speak for himself, no one else. As I said with the Overlord, He should feel shameful in not believing in his own talents to let the Baron interceed, a true swordsman would be glad to prove his
own worth instead of making the other prove his worth, after rising up the ranks.
Third, To G, You tell me that I look foolish, for sayin what I have said, I am sadden somewhat, for you have just contridicted what you said, you believe I am foolish for standing by my belief, & yet the Overlord & Oakensheild are honorable for stickin to their beliefs. While I do not consider them enemys outside the arena, They are my foes inside, they are the ones I want to unseat & to implant my New School Philosphy into a seat. I will
honor them with there beliefs the day I challenge them & follow their structure, but I will not agree with their ideas they hold.
As to making friends, I make friends to one that duel to the best of their abilities & are not afraid to show their skills to their challengers, we are trained swordsman who live by the blade here, not politician, let the RhyDin Government handle that outside the Arena. While I veiw you with amirement for your talents when I first enter the arena & was able to duel a skilled Warlord like you many of times, I must disagree on the beleifs
you were raise on.
To Jona, I believe you must be the one with that unique language, sorry, m'lady, I would need someone to translate what you wrote, for I can not comprehend what you are trying to state?
Again, Remember me, Jake Ryliegh, the next great dueler of the Arena...
