::finally finds some time from his world building to catch up, and stumbles on the old foot in mouth post he knows so well::
Patrons, Overlord, Friends, etc,
One word basically describes this clash of opinions.....and that word is *semantics*.
Whether the Overlord chooses to test a Warlord or not is totally without need of ponderance. He is the Overlord....tis his right to Test or interceed in any fashion he sees fit. And I do not believe Master Ryleigh, that you have the right to publically besmirch Lord Dalamar's name because of it.
We have as thing here...its called the Universal Terms of Challenge, it has pretty much set in stone the rights of challenged and challenger, be they Overlord, Baron or Warlord. Now whether you believe the Overlord was wrong in testing former Overlord Gnimoi is moot. Lord Dalamar did not cross any lines, break any rules, nor in my eyes, dishonor himself in his opt to test the Warlord.
Now I will not say that I did not raise an eyebrow at the testing myself. But I do not question the rights of the Overlord, and I, my fiery young man, have been at the game of questioning much longer than yourself. Believe me Jacob.....if an Overlord steps out of line...you will know, because I will be the first, or mayhaps the second to attempt to chastise them for their wrong.
And as far as you being the *leader* of the new school. I find that to be bunk and an out dated philosophy. Look to the Baronies and you'll see several representatives of the so-called *New School*, Myself, Sartan, Huma, Lucian even Evan....hell...there are those that look upon Jeffery as being new school himself....so your self proclaimed leadership is bunk my boy.....as I find that you have little to overqualify most of the other
representatives of that timeline tag.
But as I age into this sport I am finding something that I once believed to mayhaps be in error. When I was a new bladesman, hacking and chopping my way into the ranks of this sport....I once thought there was a new and a old school. But now I believe this. There is no *school*. There is merely this. Those that accept you as a friend and pay you respect. And those that do not. If you....and many others still feel a need to segregate the
ranks in the old school/new school fashion, after I have pointed out this most salient fact, then I brand you fools. All the old school/new school argument has ever been, was a way to justify anger and ill feelings of not being accepted. That is all it ever was...and thats all it ever will be. In time...you find no schools apparent. As there will be many of both *schools* that are your friends, and many of both schools that revile you.
So...in closing. Just deal with it and flow Jacob...there will be many things you do not like here...and little you....or your self centered opinions will do to avail yourself of them...we have a saying where I come from, *Eat it and grin*, a philosophy I am finding much more attractive to taking offense and starting private little wars everywhere as I gel over and grow within this realm.
So on a personal level, not just to you Jacob...but to everyone. Lets dump the *school* thing, as I believe that if it is this glaringly obvious to me what the true grist of that argument is, then diverse others must have seen it also.

Aw, come on now...*I'm* not whining about this, why is anyone else? Dal tested me, Jeffy kicked me rear, simple as that, end of story. Sheesh...

Damnit Sid, get off my arse before I play exorcist with that bubble head of yours. Apparantly yer the only one who didn't realize it was a joke. Maybe Dal can buy ya' a sense of humor...Elijah seems ta' have died with yers.
Unlike you, I realize how this sounds and just wish I could make it a little bit harsher.

This is the New Schooler Jake Ryleigh, Many now know who I am just from my good looks, charisma, & my excellent dueling skills in the ring.>>>
Sounds to me like he's trying to get a date. ;)
As far as the challenge, Gnim challenged me when I was a baron and did not prevail, then he moves up one step higher to challenge the overlord. In this instance I thought the test was well placed, since he didn't first take baron. Of course that's my random opinion.
Gnim is hardly a poor dueler and if he's not upset about it, I'm not sure why others are. The challenge debate is old, like the fancy debate, everyone will never see it the same.

::the Guardian of the Ward stirs::
The Test, the Test... 'tis the Overlord's right. When Gnimish was Overlord and I challenged him in time nigh forgotten, Gnimish used the test well against me. Do I recall rightly, 'twas Billy Ray that pounded me well that day. 'Twas Dalamar himself that bested me to gain the title he continues to hold so well.
As one who held the title twice, I salute he who holds it now.

Um...Billy boy..you didn't read further.
And if that was a joke, then, chalk it up to my being cranky that day.
