>> First of all, judged by your fighting skills, I assume that you have learned nothing. And as far as respect goes, I do not respect the likes of you. People such as you give future champions such as me a bad name. I say out with the old, and in with the new. <<
Lad...
Before you start mouthing off about someone's dueling skills, I suggest you note how well or poorly they have dueled overall, rather than a single duel.
As for respect... While certainly Adonai could use a few lessons on holding his temper, he -does- have respect and honor... If I felt otherwise, I would've challenged him, just as I would challenge any of the Barons I felt were not -deserving- of my respect.
In closing... I have the feeling that, by the end of the next cycle, you shall be part of the "old" that the -next- bunch will be trying to oust.
Same story, different loudmouth.

Ace,
My fighting skills? MY FIGHTING SKILLS? A what pray tell do you know of MY fighting skills boy?
I'll tell you what you know....you know nothing. You have never faced me in the ring, the one opportunity you had to do so you ran like the coward you were from the Arena and did not return to take that match back up at a later date.....no...you decided to post your cowardly words here in an attempt to make you look as if you had some skill...when we all know your as skilless as anyone and have nothing to better yourself with but your
mouth.
I have dueled and defeated the best this sport has to offer, past, present and future boy, who have you dueled? Cetran, a far more worthy duelist than you will ever be, G'nort, a twice Baron of the sport and a warlord of more wisdom than you will ever have....and then...a handfull of new duelers in practice dueling....and you have not beaten a ONE of them more often than they have beaten you...and you accuse ME of being skilless? I have
defended the ring I bear three times against Warlords of this sport you could never even dream to equal in skill and won every duel by better than a 5 - 3 margin, I've got shut outs on my record that you would dream of having.....and whats more....I have the respect of my fellow duelers because of that ability. You boy, have nothing, and your attempts to make yourself look good with your big words have done naught but make you look exactly like the
ass you are.
Little education for you boy;
Ace223344 2: 3: 1 4/23/98
Duke UzieI 43: 19: 3 5/21/98
I believe your 1 Loss over Wins there. That puts me exactly 25 Wins ahead of you. I think you can start spouting off your mouth once your caught up with me, until then...twould do you well to watch your words...making an enemy of me would be the worst mistake you will ever make.

"Sounds like he's already made a few enemies to me," he mumbles to himself.
Nova Grey Shadow shakes his head slowly as he reads over the replies of the various Warlords as well as the commoner issuing the comments. He writes a response swiftly upon coming to the last message.
"Uziel,
The rookie made some comments that are questionable and, in response, you make comments which I can only view as worse. I use the term "rookie" because that's what he is. A young upstart that may one day rise to maginificent heights that may even parallel your achievements. Need I remind you that many of the current warlords were, at one time, 2-3 as a Commoner. I myself had 18 losses over wins at one point in my dueling career. It took me
three years (including a sabatical) to rise to Warlord. Indeed, a few of the best of the (now) little known duelists from the Arena's past never even made it to Warlord.
In short, the rookie can make all the comments he wants. He's a rookie, arrogance is nothing new with them. Arrogance is nothing new with any of us. Because he chooses to voice his opinion on these boards does not make him a coward. In my opinion, it makes him an obviously intelligent man, one that knows that if he opened his mouth to speak his words inside the Arena, he would be beaten back by a hail of insults from the upper dueling ranks
and no one would ever hear him. Putting his words to paper and leaving it for all to see allows us to have a little insight into the lower ranks, for it has got to be incredibly galling for the lower ranks to look up at the upper ranks and see that, when the Warlords are not busy arguing with (or insulting) each other, they are busy taking on the newest dueler to voice his or her ego where people will doubtlessly hear him.
I have respect for your dueling skills, but then, I have respect for every duelist's skills. It takes a bit more to garner respect for yourself as a person (this goes for not only Uziel, but Ace and all others, from Commoner to Overlord). A little something for us all to remember: None of us skipped the Commoner rank, even if we were only there for a day or even an hour. And very few of us can claim that we did not, at least once, believe we
could defeat anyone the Arena had to offer.
Also, all of us are prone to fits of bellyaching. Do you think I enjoy reading every little complaint people have to offer here? Frankly, yes I do, it's the reason I still read these boards. Then, and only then, we know exactly where these people are. We can listen to them, and, God forbid, communicate with them. To use a rather tired cliche "Judge not lest ye be judged". I would assume this applies to everyone, not just the lower ranks.
Yes, all of us tend to judge, and some of the lower ranks will judge and place their opinion here, as will the Warlords from time to time. Sometimes, it's up to us to attempt to be the first to show respect. Perhaps then the "rookies" may even grow to become our trusted friends.
Respectfully,
Nova Grey Shadow"
He sticks the note to the board, and, shoving his hands into his pants pockets, he strolls away. In the back of his mind, he knows a few people may hear his words, but, odds are, even less will actually listen to him. Regardless, he knows opinions need to be voiced every now and again. He secretly hopes to see a day where opinions, no matter how arrogant or even idiotic, will be made known without fear of insult. Nova Grey Shadow steps
through the Red Dragon Inn and out into the bright sun, noting the clouds gathering in the sky of the early afternoon.

Nova,
I see you decided to come out of your cave again. Far be it from me to say you, or anyone has no right to post their opinion to the board. But I can guarantee you one thing, if anyone uses that right to step out can call me a skilless cheat.....I believe I have just as much right to respond, and will do so with all evident vemehence.
Look at it this way GreyShadow...you and I respond to disrespect from young duelers completely differently. I choose to confront the boy on his words. You on the other hand would most likely retire in disgust once more for the mere fact a *rookie* would disrespect you.
As far as being a commoner was concerned....aye...I was, for a standings period of about 1 week, though I surpassed that rank in my first two duels and finished the weekend as a GrandMaster.
So do not be mistaken GreyShadow....I do not belittle Ace for his being a *rookie* I belittle him as I would anyone that would spout such mindless drivel with no ability to back it up. Even if it was you....if the situation was the same I would lash out at you in the same way....so do not misconcieve me.

Lord Uziel:
I fear you misinterpret part of Lord GreyShadow's point.
Perhaps I can make it more clear; by lashing out at the offender, you again lend credence to the perception that you foam at the mouth, and - worse - you give the fool the attention he craves.
Anyone dim enough to feel that your skill in the ring is the fruit of dishonesty, and that you are not skilled yourself, is not worth the effort of responding to. Do you see?

And Nova,
Make note that he treats everyone the same he treats Ace; insults.
You spoke well, sir. It's sad when truth and honorable words are covered by mud thrown by others.

Iain,
Your words are as usual, the words of long borne wisdom. And thusly I understand them....mayhaps tis true I foam at the mouth at times...and mayhaps that is why I am quick to answer these kinds of posts. And it is possible that I misinterpreted GreyShadow's response....but then...even if I did I tire of people telling me how *I* ought to be.
Var,
You my ex friend happen to be one of the biggest hypocrites in the entire sport. You speak so elegantly about how people should be honored and respected. Yet you give none yourself, you dishonor whoever you must have stolen your signature quote from by perpetually attacking those that are doing little but being themselves all because they do not hold the exact same code of honor you do. You Var DeMedici-Giovanni...are a hypocrite. I did not
and have not insulted you at any time other than your prior challenge...at its commencement, I dealt with you honorablly and treated you as an honorable man even in your defeat....you Var...need to do exactly what Huma and Seamus has told you to do before. Keep your nose out of business that is not yours. Had I insulted you at any time....your words would be founded and I would not be so enraged. But you merely pontificate on your own
self-righteousness and thusly damn those that do not as you do. Well, you may go forth and pound sand as far as I am concerned, I used to care what you were talking about....I used to think there was some element of meaning in it...but now Var...I unveil you for exactly what you are, a hen pecking, nosy, ill spoken, hypocritical fool.
You have done naught but cast judgement after judgement upon me time and time again...so there is mine upon you. Instead of sitting around looking for things to be righteously mad about Var, maybe you should go do something useful...like knit a quilt for your wife.
Friends and others,
I have stated this again and again, I am me...you don't have to like it and I can care less if you do. I generally am a very friendly and approachable being, with little ill will towards people in general. My friends know this well and have no reason to question it.
You don't like how I do something? Fine.....you don't friggin have to....and I never said you did. But I can tell you flat out that I really don't care how you think *I* should do anything. I have proven time and time again that I am an honorable man, I have proven time and time again that I am worthy to hold the title I hold and the respect that I have within the sport. And whether you like me or how I do things pertains little to any of
that.
Don't like it? Do something about it....otherwise, take your magnifying glass elsewhere...because I tire of being under it.

Respect is earned. By the way you treat others, I don't respect you. Simple. I respect Nova and Drake, for when they make their points, they don't come down to childish insults. Hypocrite? I don't think I am. I preach that you should treat those with respect, but I also say that you need to do what's right.
When Nova spoke, in a way that I thought was mature, you responded with a childish insult. I judge time and time again? Maybe you don't remember why I challenged you. I didn't respect you, and I don't know if it's wise to have a baron that would be so childish as to throw insults whenever someone disagrees with him.
No, I don't respect you, and when I see dishonorable, uncaring children such as yourself try to get half of Rhydin bow down to you, through "tough guy" words, I speak up. Nova was speaking truth, you speak childishly. But next time I'll be sure to mail Nova my thoughts about you.
That way, your ego will be fed by the belief that I kiss your feet.
And when you do an act, that helps someone other than yourself, then I'll actually believe you have a sense of what honor is. I stand here at the boards and defend those whom I felt have been wronged. I don't care if you criticize me, or anyone else. I stand by the belief that one should live with honor.... and when I write here before the DoS, defending those wronged, not caring if you damn me, I think I'm doing a pretty good job not being
a hypocrite.

It's weird how when one insignificant commoner insults a baron, the incident erupts into a full-fledged war between some of the most-repected duelers in Rhydin (though respected only b/c of their skill, not their manners in some cases). Lord Tynsdale is right - learn to ignore certain affronts, and life will be a lot less frictionous.

A simple fact...
If you don't like being under observation by the masses, don't put yourself in the position to be observed... A Baron's words and actions will always be scrutinized.

::Sighs, writing::
I humbly apologize, once again, for any problems I may have caused. Respect is earned, yes, but I have not shown respect to the boards, by putting harsh words on it, and actually thinking people will read it.
I suppose with everything gone on, I am fed up, and I was stating my opinions, but in the wrong way. Ace shouldn't have insulted Adonai publicly on the boards, just as I shouldn't have.
If it will make things easier for people, my words seem to always cause disruption. Because of this, I'll keep quiet and mind my own business, as Lord Seamus, suggested.
Again, I apologize if I seemed to have force fed my morals. Since people know where I stand, I suppose there's no need to speak up anymore.

I dinnae say ye should mind yer own business Var, I said tha' ye should let the challenger challenge and let those which wield the power of yea and nae when it comes to validation of wins do their job. I read all that you place here upon this cork. Just as I read tha' of each and every person tha' has an opinion. Tell me Var, how many times in the last year have I ever commented on your writings? Only once, and it was something so trivial I assumed
you and I could ha'e a drink and discuss our sides of the issue. As you know, this is not how you wish to solve it. I am nae trying to run yer business man. You are free to say all tha' ye like and I will do as I always have, I will speak when I see a reason and hold my tongue when I deem it fit.
I did nothing to disrespect you and still hold you in high regard. If this is all it takes to break a friendship that has lasted as long as ours, then I doubt there ever was one.
Ask the Overlord what criticism is before you consider the two sentences about finding something to do with your time to be chastisement. Apparently your skin isn't as thick as mine or that of Dalamar. With this said, I will refrain from comment on these boards as I have done for sometime now. Not that I wont be listening, not that I will stay silent when I feel the need to speak out. Those who know me, already know my opinion on most of the things
that go on in this community. Those that know me well, know why.
The offer for a drink is still open, and I am still willing tae buy.
And M'lady Drake, I am nae sour and I welcome scrutiny, for I have nothing to hide from this community. I do however hope that at the end of the Warlord Tournament ,you take yourself a ring and have the chance to have your every word disected by those around you.
Simply,
Seamus

Baron Seamus...
Was that a well hidden "Goodluck"?
Should, by providence and luck, I gain a ring... I will more than look forward to my every word being scrutinized. I have nothing to hide, and I never have.
