The ring's orientation
From: dueiist@aol.com (DueIist)
Date: 23 Apr 1998 20:48:15 EDT
Loyalty in its basest form is a globular, undefined mass worthy of neither name nor recognition. The sort of loyalty Dalamar has cultivated is neither globular or undefined - on the contrary, I find him a worthy and capable man. It is for this reason that I seek to cultivate his regime into one of order and chivalry, lacking the flapping edges that the Renegade offers.
Lord Huma Dragonbane, baron of the fourth ring...
I seek, with no hostility towards you, nor towards your character, the ring you proudly—and adeptly—wear upon your finger, and to set its light upon the Overlord as opposed to erstwhile desires and intents. I cannot wish you the best of luck when facing my blade, Lord Dragonbane, but I will endeavor to mold the honor and loyalty we share into something lasting. Our views may differ—let our paths of honor never stray.
With all due respect,
He.

Namless person, prepare for a beating. I refuse to give this ring up, especially to one who is shames enough to hide thier name. As for my fans, this is the magic challenge number four. To the fourth ring's history, the odds be against me. As Xy found out, I don't believe in odds.

::Can't see how people root others on when they sling mud at a challenge that seemed innocent enough, he posts a few words::
Want to know what's really ironic? If Dal were to retort to a challenge as Huma did, half of DoS would be down his throat.
It may sound like I am biased, but I reread Huma's post, and he attacked the Nameless One personally, by mentioning such minute details that have nothing to do with the challenge (why he doesn't have a name). Why am I named Var? Why is Huma named Huma? Why is the Nameless one Nameless? Why does an octopus have 8 arms? Is God a man or a woman? Such things aren't pertinent to the challenge, thus shouldn't be used as an
argument/insult/defense mechanism.
If the nameless one were to challenge Dal, and Dal responded as such, how many would expect Huma to question Dal's honor and such? How many of YOU would question Dal's honor?
One post I read a while back seemed to condone such mudslinging. I won't mention names, because I want to try to practice what I preach, and not sling mud. Reading above may seem like it's slinging mud, and, to be quite blunt, I don't care how the second paragraph came out. It's stating fact, without attempt to attack one person.
Why bother? Am I attempting to get the hypocritical in view? I want certain words swallowed, like all of us (or the majority of us).
That's my two cents, people. Please remember that when I use "you" it means in a general statement.

Speaking of muddy hands, Var, get your hands and nose out of things that are *none* of your business. You know *nothing* about why I do or say things...possibly *I* have a valid reason for attacking the challenger. All of this is none of your business, and I am sure at least half the community would be gratefull if you would just keep your nose out of everyone elses business. Are you this nameless challenger? Or are you the holder of the
fourth ring? no, you are niether. If you don't like how I do things, that is your opinion. Keep it to yourself. freedom of speach? Yes we have it, but I also have another way to look at things. "Is what I have to say *worth* saying, and *does* this matter pertain to me in any way?" ask yourself that when you read each posting to this board. From what I have seen, if you'd button your pen, more than half of the arguments on this board would cease.
Yes, I am incinuating you are the instigator. Hell, I don't have to make any accusations, just browse the boards. Any who are not blind can see for themselves. A word of warning Var, if your nose gets to close to my business...you may loose it.

The gladiator regards the sundry notes for a moment, absorbing the information and formulating an answer.
-------------
Lord Giovanni-
You have my thanks for your support. You've proven yourself a capable swordsman and a worthy friend.
Lord Dragonbane-
I shall meet you this Tuesday. Your words ring hollow in my soul, yet I cannot condemn you. Good health.

::Coughs::
Last time I checked, this WAS a public message board, therefore making it open to the public. That makes it the public's business, that makes it my business. If you truly want people to keep out of your business, then keep your business out of the boards.
Now I do think people are going to question you, for threatening me publicly. Should they mind their own business, too? Is this Huma's message board? Is it that Huma Dragonbane says what is to be censored?
Many people speak their mind, I spoke it. Difference is, I wasn't slinging mud. Now whether or not you have a reason for not liking someone, everyone here is tired of the mudslinging. It has to stop somewhere.
Now if you want to hold up to your threat of removing my nose, perhaps you should remove everyone else's nose, because in your eyes, it seems that this isn't their business. Hell, if I knew decisions of the DoS community was partly run by some guy making threats to another within the community (publicly, for that matter), I think I have a right to speak my mind.
±
::Wanders off, thinking since he's the only one that spoke words Huma disliked, he's the only one that will get his nose removed. Thinking this sounds like a dictatorship with a twist::

I am restating something. You say that I am not you, and that I am not the nameless one. No, I'm not. Maybe nobody should root one another on, since it's their business. Maybe we should all play hush hush...
Or perhaps, Huma, you need to learn to watch where you throw mud, because you never know what people will see in you from now on. I have an idea of what people think of me, and, to be blunt publicly, the only one that really matters to me, and who will always matter to me, is Noelle's view of me.
I hold my friends in high regards, and I value their friendship, yes. However, I dedicated my life to one. If a friend were to betray me, I would be upset naturally, for a while... but as long as I have Noelle, I'm happy with who I am.
