About the Overlord

Fellow Duelists,
For the past night and the majority of the day, I have been toying with the idea of retiring my title after the next challenge. I've realized that I do not have the stomache to take the insults, arguments, and backstabs that I know see are part of being an Overlord with opinions. I'm sorry I cannot be a "cushy" Overlord who doesn't intercede, doesn't use champions, and doesn't say anything to offend everybody, but that's not who I am. Every day I have lost the support of people who I
believed were my friends and would stand by me no matter what kind of political error I made. I was obviously wrong. So, I decided that I would retire my title and perhaps regain the friendships I've lost, and at the same time, make those who dislike and disagree with me happy that I am gone. After talking to a few people, a good friend told me to do what I know in my heart is right, and that nothing else will matter. So, to those of you out there who want me gone, those of you who hate me, those of you
who think I'm a hypocrite, and those of you who dislike my policies and opinions... I intend to stay in my position as long as humanly possible, and everytime I receive a challenge I hope to shove it down your throats. Be that by my own hand or through the hand of a champion. I will not give up something I worked so long and hard to achieve simply because of the verbal assault that has been waged against me.

Aye, Milord Dalamar. And thus thou dost prove thyself to be one of those members of this community who IS aware of, and responsible to, the Lady Honor. She is indeed a harsh mistress Milord, and serving her is often a cold and lonely occupation, but she does offer her rewards to the faithful in the end. I am glad to know the Overlord of DoS not only speaks out against dishonor, but stands firm, despite the costs.

M'lord Dalamar........At the time of my declaration to be Loyal to thee Sir...............I was unsure......for I knew not much of thyself other than what had been told to me by certain representives of the DoS community.............One of these persons, was my Mentor........Athlstan.........He along with many others exclaimed the virtues and honor which ye have thus far lived up to. A decision was made using all available information......................and now, looking back on it.........I realize

Dalamar,

All those who have been Overlord know what you are going through. We wrest the title from friends. Everyone becomes a possible rival and threat. The pressure is never off. Defeat is inevitable.

An Overlord's reign tests skill but also character. Some are tested harder than others. How will a particular Overlord be remembered, long after the politics of the day are forgotten? Take strength in that thought.

Give your attention to the lower ranks. They don't care about politics. They are watching you, learning from you -- learning how a great warrior fights, acts, and lives. They will be looking up to you long after you have lost the Overlordship.
