Musings At The MileStones

Friends and Patrons
I have spent the entire day and most of last evening pouring through the archives, and remembering the past. My thoughts, turn to many things, a laugh and a smile here, a wistful yet sad smile there. This has been a place of many wonders. Many tales have unfolded here and friendships and alliances formed, and broken, all in the furtherance of the Duels.
Mayhaps I become emotional in my dotage ::grins:: But I think of those that have left us with a slight pang of loss...some to reasons unknown, others for personal reasons beyond reproach. But still...in my perusement of the archives I cannot help but feel the Arena seems a less bright and more hollow place than it was at one time.
Not that I think it is any worse...but somehow...the color it once had has faded, still there, in slightly faded version...but still...not what I remember.
Above all....I miss my blood brother and life long friend Dem Cyrax, avatar of the God of War, and a former Warlord of the sport. Given more time, Dem would have been standing with me this day, with his other friends, Huma and Seamus. as a Baron of the sport, mayhaps he would have gotten there sooner than I, mayhaps later, but he would have been here. And I anxiously await his return to the realm.
Others I miss that gave this place the color and life it had once that I now feel it has forgotten. The Highlander Elijah Basia-Uhr, commonly known as Ecore, for his fiery belief in his own convictions and his willingness to shove his foot, and logic down anyones throat without care for consequence or public opinion, Lupton est Dracoern, for his razor sharp wit and mind, and for his oh so superior mein, between the both of them, there
were more than enough people to dislike, and their schemes and powerplays left more of an impression in my mind than any title the had, or will ever hold.
I miss many that have left our Arena, for good or for ill. And some of the banter and wit that once was has been lost....to most assuredly be replaced by newer ones...ones I am sure I will come to know and love as I did the old ones.
I look back upon myself over this time, and see my own evolution through the ranks, blasting through the ranks at a speed that even myself had not expected...and the friends I have made and the people I have known. The debates, the knock down drag out fights I have been in, I watched myself, through the archives, go from the ill mannered, fiery, unused to humans and mortals Valheru that I was....to become that which I am today, a
member of the finest community of heroes and bladesmen and women in this realm.
Tis been a wonderous journey so far...and the road stretches ever onward before us....may we all...bring light...and fun..to this...our Arena.
My Respects,
~Adonai Uziel~
~DragonLord of RhyDin~
~Baron of the Seventh~
((For those that truely wish to know the motivation for this post. Adonai Uziel first stepped into the Arenas on this day last year as Lord Uziel, its been quite a trip so far...glad to have been here. =) ))

Adonai me frien'...
Ah hates to admit it when ya makes sense but it does happen from time ta time. Kinda like seein me sobah, ya will nevah believe it til ya view it wit yer own eyes an evens then ya haves ta takes a secon' glance.
All jestin aside for th moment, ther are indeed mannah people that have graced th halls o th Duel of Swords wit their presence or in some cases nha so pleasant personages. Whethah they were partakin in th clashin o skill o weaponry in th rings, masterin the nuances o manipulations, or evens jes havin a plain ol' good time at th bar wit friens. Ther are indeed mannah ta remember, enemies an comrades alike.
People such as Buffy, bubble gum chewing slayer. Ulyssess Graham, star warrior and former baron. Karturis, the fun-lovin inventor of Homebrew. Rix Favre, Co-founder of Team Slash. Xenograg, Sensei, former Overlord and so much more. Sondragon, th first ah coulds truly call frien. Draven Altruis, skilled dueller in his own right and former baron. Exacalibur, in his brief time here he made his mark well known. Legendanza, though we had our differences
she was exceptional in her own right as the druidess of th Sidhe. Athlstan, devoted Cleric and staunch Overlord. Prudence, wily thief and lively character.
As ah remember those ah liked an call frien, ther are also those tha in their own way, added a bit of memorable strife, such as the immortal pain known as Guild God to name but one for now.
Well ther are far too many for me ta membah an list all th names o those departed friens an enemies, and ther equally many new and present personages tha are here now. Combined, their memories an the experiences to come ensure tha th Duel of Swords will leave an impression on all who visit, dwell, and duel within these hallowed halls.

We'd remember you a lot more fondly if you'd leave, Gnim.

Don't worry about Gnim, he's like Herpes.
He'll flare up fer a while and then seem ta' go away again. Then once yer happy...BOOM...he's back.
