>>Gnort,

I must disagree with yer notion dat Jesse had no right ta challenge. I do not much like his choice of action after winnin', but in our sport when ya dislike a baron ya have verra few options. Challengin' is da one way ta bring about change in our upper ranks. Sure Jesse could flame him but it would accomplish even less. Our sport is based on da rings, and what transpires within 'em. Tradition is formed from how our Barons act both in and out
of da rings. Jesse will not be a part of our traditions because he made da choice ta give up his rank. Perhaps he was not ready fer responsibility, perhaps he doesn't care much about anythin' ta do with ranks. It was verra clear from his initial challenge dat he sought change, he sought ta remove Baron Dragonbane, and he had every right ta do so.

~J<<

Jeff,

I stand corrected, that was indeed correct in that he had a right to challenge.

However, -I- Feel he had no right to present himself how he did before, during, and after. In my opinion, what was done was a total lack of any kind of respect for this sport. I'm sure you and many others agree with me on that much. It would be one of the first times that almost everyone did agree with something around here... at least for as long as I can remember.

Actually G I cannot agree with ya 100%

Sure it would be great ta have another upstandin' baron, one who cares as much about da ring as Huma did, but it didn't happen here. Jesse had one purpose fer challenge, ta oust Huma from da ranks. He didn't want fame or rank, maybe a little attention, maybe ta settle some grudge. Perhaps our upcomin' tourney will find us a baron we see as "worthy". I wouldn't like ta see dis happen in every challenge, and Jesse could have been a bit more
respectful and observant of da rings tradition and meanin' ta da sport; but he wasn't wrong in his challenge, he didn't break any rules, and it really isn't da end of da world.

Sad ta say at least he had a real purpose fer challenge, more dan some of da past ones we've had.

I believe a'many has missed the true intent on what the challenge was all bout.
Ya many that have shared words here..might have overlooked the obvious.

T'wasn't a challenge fer the ring that is of concern...nor the improper act which occurred after the victory took place.
If one would ask me.....I would say..."mission accomplished".

Someone, somewhere wanted the previous Baron detroned from his position..and they succeeded. They did not want the ring itself....they simply wanted more not ta see Baron HumaDragbn hold it.
Who would plot such a thing?

Perhaps one or a group of many wishing ta complete the loyalty allignment under the
overlord.
Perhaps t'is Zaradda, up and about causing mischief once more.
Fact of the matter is, t'was uncalled for.

I was neah there ta witness the occurence that day...and I've not once crossed words with this dishonourable one calling himself Jessee, something or the other.
And ta the RDI whom was forced ta observe the act...Luth, gain not a rise from it..fer me's believe the dishonourable intent was not meant fer ya..but moreso towards the old baron.

No one can dishonour another person....unless that person allows themselves ta be diswayed and show themselves dishonourable.
Only the truly honourable will grasp the rhetoric.

I've read yer intentions Sir HumaDragbn....and I make public me intent ta assist ya gather up yer ring once more.
Should there be any way I might be of assistance in doing so..consider me an allie.
I know not of yer true nature, and have only witnessed what has been done ta ya....and I find it wrong...ya have enemies, that have proven themselves dishourable.
I'll draw my sword and stand aside ya, should ya wish!

Respectfully,
"Milites CHRISTi"

After skimming over all the replies and various sides presented, he posts a simple writing, more for the thought than for the presentation:

"Maybe he gave up the ring so he can challenge someone else he doesn't like. New month isn't that far away. Perhaps he fancies himself some kind of enforcer against Baronial power."

Left unsigned, since the thought is more than likely not original.

Jeff,

I wouldn't think i would hear something soo self centered from you. Maybe it wasn't your intention to make it sound soo bad but you wrote it none the less. There are a couple hundred other duelers in this sport who could care less about these silly possesions that are tossed around. The sport survived before the introduction of the rings but with actions such as of Jesse's and the constant arguing and bickering you never know when this place will
crash. Just rethink what you wrote and if i'm taking this way out of context please feel free to correct me.

The resident redhead wearily flips through the ramblings of gentle men and women of the DoS. As she nears the end, a shrug passes over her shoulders.

"I think he's sort of cute."

A heel-clip sounds through the arena as she battles her way out the door.

Um, Fala... I think when he says "rings", he is referring to the rings you duel in; not the baronial rings.

:::although he tries to keep from the politics of DoS, feels a response is needed and picks up his pen:::

Nova seems to have put her finger on something here, a DoS Enforcer. But, the true question is, who does he work for? Seems to me he picked Huma out pretty deliberatetly. Funny as he was the only non-loyal Baron, isn't it. So, does this perhaps mean that loyalty will be forced or punished now? I wonder. I for one am truly sickened by the lack of respect given to the honor of holding a Ring. As one who has aspired to that for quite some time
now, it saddens me to see the honor disgraced so. Well, now I look forward to the Tourney more than ever, and not because it leaves another Ring up for grabs but because it gives Huma a chance to get it back.
Huma, my friend, my sword-arm stands ready if ever you need it.

Peoples-

I don't believe Warlord Dragonbane was selected just because he was the only non-loyal Baron. More because his WoL record didn't match that of a warlord. In which case, some believe that enough to think a Baron unworthy of his rank. If Jesse had caught Huma on one of his more "depressive" nights that too could have been seen as unworth. Doubting his skill as a dueler... pondering retirement... even if he didn't mean it... Jesse could
have sen it the wrong way.
Another point, if you believe Dal actually sent Jesse out to take down the
former-renegade... well think of all the Pro-Dal duelers out there he could have gotten to challange the renegade. Gnort Talanador for one... he's a public supporter of Overlord Ar'Daumon. He's got a better reputation than Jesse... he would most deffinately have made a better Baron... has more than enough peer wins... and is in searching for a ring. I mean, think about it... I'm -believe- the Overlord hasn't said much more than two words to Jessa
in a single month(and no I don't think they were "Get Huma" :).
The thing is... the only one who knows why Jesse challanged is -Jesse- himself.
The only one who knows Dalamar's intentions are -Dalamar himself.
The only one who knows what Huma is up to is -Huma-.
That's the beauty of these assumptions... they are yours... some can be very believable... but they aren't exactly fact. Anyway... you've heard gotten all the assumptions you'll get from this merc. For now anyhow...

::Writes a few words::

Mud free post, guaranteed.

Isn't it a tad unfair to say that Dal sent someone out to get the only non loyal baron? If someone were to challenge Dal, or a loyal baron, does anyone have any idea who would be calling Dal the paranoid one, if he were to claim people are "out to get him"?

I'm also a tad confused as to what Nova posted, because I don't see his name in any of the previous messages, but whatever.

However, I think this is way beyond politics, now. Nobody here is a "hitman" for barons, trying to take their rings. Is it just coincidence, when the House Questrion were trying to get renegades? I apologize if my sources are limited, but at that time, I don't think Dal was complaining about someone paying the house to "get him".

Hallelujiah, no mud thrown. Just facts.
