A tired warrior...

Friends,
I have lost everything that matters to me. I have lost my wife, and now, I have lost my ring. I wish i could have done better. It is time for me to resign from the DoS. I am not even a warlord now, but a grand master. In my face, I have lost my honor, and now, I must go in search of it. I will miss my friends. I shall miss the fourth ring. Take care all of you.

You'll be missed.
There is a space in the rings saved for you, if you return.

The commoner takes up the quill dangling on its ribbon, pens a short note then tacks it to the ancient cork board.
M'Lord Huma Dragonbane.
For the loss of thine lady wife, I have most inadequate words to offer in comfort. In matters of the heart tis such as is always right and proper, in the end as in the beginning, betwixt the lad and the lass.
For the loss of thine ring, I have only this to offer. If, within thine heart, thou knowest thou didst truly strive to the very best of thine considerable skill, that M'lord, speaks most eloquently of thine fortitude and thine honor. Thou stood steadfast as Renegade in the face of formidable and vocal opposition, M'Lord, and thou didst stand alone. Thou didst hold to thine principles, M'Lord, and did not waiver. Hold thine head high and proudly,
M'Lord Huma. Let none disparage such courage. I offer this also, let none disparage the courage of Jesse Troyan, for his action, callous as they may be, also took courage, mayhap of a different nature, but courage nonetheless.
T'was from the outset of the challenge, the warlord Jesse Troyan didst plainly state his reasons for seeking thine ring, nor did he hide his nature with honeyed words. Thou, M'Lord did answer in kind and thou also did not hide thine nature.
The histories shall record that thou didst successfully defend thine ring four times. They shall record that the Baron, Jesse Troyan, did hold the rank for mere moments, casting aside any chance that he would be called upon to defend it.
I shall offer thee this, M'lord Dragonbane, this was not the first time a Baron has cast his ring aside, an act that could be construed as callous disrespect for his Baron's ring as well as for each Baron that has ever worn that symbol of rank. Albeit never before has a Baron held his rank and ring for but moments then cast aside both ring and rank as if both were mere baubles.
The ripples shall widen, M'Lord. Time alone shall reveal whether the waters will calm or if a storm shall engulf the basement. The telling shall be in those with the strength to weather the storm should it come. Good Journey to thee, Huma Dragonbane.
Humbly,
Jonalyn Nenshen Starfare
Common as they come.
The commoner wanders to the dueling house to stand before the south banner wall, continuing to ponder the ramifications of last eve's events as well as the conversations she has had overtime with both Huma and Jesse.
Unbeknown to her, Aloysius, one of the serving kids sneaks out to add a post script.
PS: Hubie put in a huge order for umbrellas.

::saunters to the board, and reads slowly through the many missives. Smiles at the post script to Jona's well turned message and then tacks up her own thoughts::
Huma luv,
Ya be sorely missed and I hope ya find peace in ya journey. There be more ta life than a ring and a rank; I think me heart broke when I read tha' be all holdin' ya here. I never realized how sad ya must be, an' how hard it must hae been for ya ta stay wi' ta troubles in ya life. If ta Arena only give ya sorrow these days, then mayhaps ya best go find ya joy again.
Ya hae given joy ta many here. It be me wish tha' someday ya find wha' ya been lookin' for, and come back ta us tha' be missin' ya. Ya a fine man Huma, one o' ta great Baron's.
Will be waiting,
Summer

Huma,
Though you and I have disagreements... our spoken words against eachother don't make us blind. I understand the pain you are going through, but I don't have the ability to make you heart feel better.
I do have the ability, though, to write a personal story. I have challenged for a baronial ring 3 times. I have been in a warlord's tourney. With all four chances of returning with a baronial ring, I simply have not succeeded. I'm telling you something I told another warlord a day ago, though; I'm darn good I've been trying, because I don't want to look back and think about what I missed.
You have every opportunity of earning a ring back. You can comeback and duel, and win your rank back to warlord. Then you can enter the tourney.
Huma, you do what will make you happy. For your own sake, though, don't look back and wonder about what life would be like if you did otherwise. Either way, take care.
