Change of Alignment (Dueler)

DoS community,



With the advent of the new rules as of the stroke of Midnite this Monday, May 25, the option becomes available for Barons to be aligned Neutral, instead of having to pick which side of the Overlord they wish to align themselves. Often that created a dilemna for new Barons that had feelings both ways, or not enough feelings either way to base their decision.



When I first started dueling more frequently at the end of last year, I highly respected our current Overlord, for his skill in combat and the way he handled his Overlord affairs. Although my first challenge was to a Loyal Baron, as I stated in the letter of challenge at that time, I never held any negative feelings towards the Overlord. When I finally became a Baron by challenging and defeating another Loyalist, I had an easy decision to make to
choose to be a Loyal Baron.



However, things change. I supported, although with reservations, Dalamar's testing of Baron Evan in his challenge. One event that sticks in my mind, that I did not speak out about, was the testing of ex-Overlord and long time dueler Kalamere Ar'Din. Although I know the Overlord was merely trying to defend one of his Loyal Barons, I do not find the test accptable against established, highly skilled and respectable duelers, as I have stated
previously on the Message Boards. I did not speak out, for a number of reasons, one of which was that I would feel more pressured to turn renegade by the ensuing discussion, something I want to avoid. I highly admire all the other things that the Overlord has done in the past, and turning renegade would be turning my back on that.



Therefore, I realign myself as a Neutral Baron. I wish to show some way of disapproval of Dalamar's way of conducting his affairs as the Overlord, but I truly see no reason to turn completely against him. Were there such an alignment, I would be a "Loyal Neutral" Baron, but there is not, and I cannot hold my Loyal alignment now that there is another option besides turning renegade.
