As of yet I have refrained from expressing my thoughts upon this situation and as I shall continue to do so. My brother in blood having said similar to my thoughts. As to the actions that myself will take, that twill wait until I receive official word of the stasis of the challenge from the Keeper of the Standings, as of yet I have received nae. Until then I merely wait.

Whereas the Neutral Baron Daegarth, has declined to make comment here, holding true of course the his current alignment, I shall of course endeavor to make a few things clear.
The current outcry against the challenger, though well worded and researched, is completely from the lower ranks, thusly not a single word of support nor denial has come from the Council of Barons, nor from the Overlord. I do not think and cannot scry, that a Council will be drawn into decision here.
I will say this, challenges CAN be retracted and reissued. I have seen this happen at many different times, and even did it once myself in a younger and happier day. The Lord High Master of the Standings, Goldendust, is always understanding of unintentional blunder and very accepting of those that are somewhat unknowing of our codes, as long as they fix them forthrightly one way or another.
The challengers blunder notwithstanding, there is little reason for this argument. You will pardon me Lord Tynsdale and Lord Ar'Din if I do somewhat step on your toes here. But tis an accepted fact. If you have problem with the challengers challenge being re-accepted. That is an issue you mist take up with the Lord High Master of the Standings. Not only have you managed to "step on my toes here" but, in my opinion, have issued insult to the entirety of established warlords. To have the arrogance to refer to the grouping of warlords as the "lower ranks" dumbfounds me. Technically speaking, warlord in the highest *rank* there is, as Baron and Overlord are titles. Aside from that, I highly dislike the implication that anyone below Baron is unworthy to be debating a topic on this board.
Is your title of Baron what makes your statement on the facts here so much more relevant than those issued by we lowly warlords? Iain and I have both recognized that the withdrawal of challenge is valid, so what exactly have you "made clear" aside from your contempt for those not holding a ring? Allow me to submit that, while a baron council could be called in the future, it has yet to be done... as such, your place on that council is utterly
irrelevant to the matter ... unless, of course, you're attempting to give Daegarth forewarning on how you might vote if he were to pursue that option. Certainly Iain's discussion with Zen as to the merits of his challenge is not a council issue.
As to my own small addition to this debate, if the time were taken to read through it more closely, you might find it was not an argument at all. Rather, my missive was informative. I will grant you that I made no effort to hide my contempt for Zen's challenge, but in body it should be clear that the content was aimed strictly towards outlining the Baron's option.
To this day I am consulted, by warlords and the titled duelists alike, as to some of the intricacies of the Duel of Swords standards and guidelines. When such consultations are no longer sought I will assume that all have either gained a better understanding of what is contained or have found another source of such information. Until such time however, I feel more than justified in pointing out options to those who appear to be lacking such
information.
I'm sorry that you feel this to be the province of the council Adonai, fore I cannot agree that knowledge is bound to any level of skill. From commoner to Overlord, all duelists have the right to know what is happening in the sport, as well as what could happen in given situations. I feel it is the duty of those who hold this information, be that person a low ranked warlord or otherwise, to share their knowledge with others. Your ring gives you no
supreme right in this area.

Here's a thought, people. If I were to post a challenge right now, with invalid peer wins, could I retract my challenge Wednesday and rechallenge Thursday? I think that if one were to keep doing all of this daily, the Duel of Swords would be having many, many hours of wasted time from people submitting invalid challenges, without the fear of losing their right to challenge.
To my understanding, K'yorl's challenge was made invalid, but Jeff and him are still dueling. Kal made a good point as to whether or not the challenges are retracted before an official statement, but the recent challenge is not the case.
I believe there is a rule where if you attempt to try two maneuvers in a row, the official changes that move to a disengage. Shall the officials now tell everyone that they can't do that move and they have to choose something else? That would be wasting time. On the other hand, however, the dueler does have the right to change the move before any official call.

Go back and read what I posted. I said there was likely to be NO Council convened on this. If you mispercieved my generalization of *lower ranks* to be an insult....thats your chip and your shoulder, because I meant absolutely NO insult....it was merely a generalization I.E. Ranks lower than the one I hold being LOWER ranks. So back the hell off. I wasn't doing anything but giving MY opinion as a Baron, the title in no way makes my opinions
any more valid, I was stating obvious FACTS, had there to be any official inquiry further into the challengers challenge, THERE WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOME FORM OF COMMUNIQUE on my desk. So cool off Kal, your REAL FRIGGIN touchy.
I also NEVER said at ANY time in the post that *lower ranks* should not post their opinions on matters. I merely pointed out that there was NO infraction after the retraction and reissuance and that argument further on the matter was meaningless and moot and was doing little but encouraging hate and discontent.
You go ahead and share knowledge, I NEVER at any time said that was bad or uneeded, nor did I say that only certain ranks should be giving advice. Perhaps you should learn the old adage "Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you." I would not deign from my lowly position to your own skill to advise you however you may find that one who constantly speaks in anger usually raises the most ire of the general populace.
I would hope that more Baron's would follow the example of Baron Oakenshield and The Baroness Luthien and approach debates and challenges with at least a modicum of control. Often times your posts here show something missing that your dueling does not. At times, a black mark on the sport.
You have said many times that people have no right to criticize you and that people should not attack each other on these boards. I ask you, sir, who granted you the right to criticize or attack others with impunity?
Reason above all, honor and respect are earned, not demanded. As a playwrite once said, "Be not as those pastors who follow not their own sermon."

There is a difference between standing up for yourself and insulting people, Adonai. It might do you well to recall that along with the fact that you are constantly asking that people "learn to get along" like they did "in the good old days." Yet the first time someone asks you a question that is for them to have better understanding of your statements and your motivation for making them you proceed to speak to them in a manner that most would not
use when speaking to a misbehaving dog. Your pattern has shown you not to like being questioned publicly.
Being a Baron or Overlord is more than *simply* a rank or else there would be no need to challenge for it, one's record would simply make them available to the title. It is a political office as well, and there is not a political officer that is above criticism. As a ruler once told me, "The wise king, seeking his own interests, never shouts and screams or even passes laws, he has an aside for such purposes." My problem Adonai is that you can
never seem to stay consistent with your own desires for the DoS community.
After all, would you eat the food of a chef that refused to taste his own cooking yet insisted it was the finest around? Or buy a horse for your children that the seller insisted was well tempered yet had never once saddled it, much less ridden?
Deeds not words, teach. Often times your actions speak much louder than you words ever could. How often does Dalamar shout at people or scrawl posts in an angry hand because someone has questioned his actions? Dalamar has responded to almost every case with a grace not unlike Lord Ar'Din's, respectful and insightful. Kalamere has just as much right to his indignation as do you.
As for my "blown gaskets," yes I am a passionate man and I make no apologies for feeling and feeling deeply, but I have the maturity to accept the consequences of that passion. I have grown accustomed to the taste of roasted pride and welcome the lessons from it. People that have seen my anger, usually know that it is placed from a deep care, not my inability to handle being questioned by others. If they do not, they can approach me without fear
of having their head verbally bitten off on a public board. The one exception to this rule regards Helix, and I'll be damned if I back away from that, ever. I spend too many night waiting for her to return from the Arena and then spend hours trying to calm her not to stand up and fight for her. She is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh and upsetting my wife upsets my whole family. If people don't like that attitude, too bad. I don't care if
they question it's validity or my sanity because of it. She's mine, and I hate sharing her. So just so everyone in the Duel of Swords knows, I share her with you all grudgingly and only that because she is good for all the thick skulls in this sport and because her tenure as the Supervisor of the sport is nearing two years. A feat I see no one, in all the recent celebrations around the 9th baron and the Overlord pointing out. Helix Girvin works
herself silly for this sport and rarely if ever receives even a bloody thank you for her tireless efforts. Her sacrifice makes all of this saber rattling over egos and such like all self centered and ignoring the stability that she and Golden have given this sport. For our constant demand on her time, her patience, and her good graces with the thanks a thief might receive from those they rob, we should all be ashamed. Even me. Instead she is
blamed when evil men set loose their trained beasts to disrupt a tournament, or is criticized for trying to keep the number of people in an event to a manageable level. Helix works harder and more for this sport than any dueler out there. She works so hard that she cannot ever duel in the Arena and finds it difficult to join the Pride and never asks a bloody thing for it. So you will have to excuse me if I have a tendency to be overly protective
of her, but I know what she goes through *daily* so that the duels run smoothly for four days and most of you don't.
We should all hang our heads for not ever giving thanks to those that work so tirelessly for this sport, each caller and queue keep, and most of all Helix and Golden who answer for the whole of the Duel of Swords. So fault me, I accept that I am not perfect and deal with it by growing up, not lashing out.

A feat I see no one, in all the recent celebrations around the 9th baron and the Overlord pointing out. Helix Girvin works
herself silly for this sport and rarely if ever receives even a bloody thank you for her tireless efforts. Her sacrifice makes all of this saber rattling over egos and such like all self centered and ignoring the stability that she and Golden have given this sport. For our constant demand on her time, her patience, and her good graces with the thanks a thief might receive from those they rob, we should all be ashamed. Even me. Instead she is
blamed when evil men set loose their trained beasts to disrupt a tournament, or is criticized for trying to keep the number of people in an event to a manageable level. Helix works harder and more for this sport than any dueler out there. She works so hard that she cannot ever duel in the Arena and finds it difficult to join the Pride and never asks a bloody thing for it. So you will have to excuse me if I have a tendency to be overly protective
of her, but I know what she goes through *daily* so that the duels run smoothly for four days and most of you don't.
We should all hang our heads for not ever giving thanks to those that work so tirelessly for this sport, each caller and queue keep, and most of all Helix and Golden who answer for the whole of the Duel of Swords. So fault me, I accept that I am not perfect and deal with it by growing up, not lashing out.

The gentle angel reads the words posted, keeping a slightly crooked grin from becoming an obvious smirk. Reading the honorable Kalameres note, a soft giggle is stiffled behind her pale hand, memories of ill tempered outbursts but old shadows in her happy heart.
Reading Kal's note once more, with a private nod of her head, the seraph vanishes in a swirl of celestial light.
