First of all,
Yes, go with friends, Seamus. You have apparently done that. You chose which side to be on, and since you're rooting for Adonai to maintain his baronial status, as a renegade, we can see your loyalties toward Dal. Least I can. Just remember, Seamus: if I root for someone to be a warlord, when they have loyalties against you, I hope you understand how I think Dal feels. Only difference is, Dal considers (or considered, I don't know his
position) you a friend.
Var,
You can see nothing beyond your nose in my humple opinion. Dalamar has 1 renegade in the entire council. Do you think he gives a rats hind end. I do not venture to speculate on his opinion, but I would think not were I in his position. You mistake my friendship with the Dragon Lord as a stand for renegades to the Overlord. I would merely stand as his second should a *warlord* try to take his ring and he asked me to( which mind you he hasn't) Where
you to challenge for the same ring, I would abstain from this position as I still hold you in a regard that would prevent me from chosing sides. If you choose to believe that I have abandoned the Overlord in this perhaps we should ask his thoughts on the matter. Neither of us have the right to speak on his behalf, nor do I feel we could do justice to his oratory prowess. As for the second matter and that being you allying with a Warlord wishing the
ring I do cherish. This would be your choice and at that point I would know the value of our friendship had dimished to nil. I had hoped you would get beyond the missive that sparked your ire, but I see it is not so.I had hoped you would recant the words, "never contact me again, but see the hope was for naught. I can but say that is is a sad day in Rhy Din when a man can not openly support his friend without the neighborhood watch commander
misconstruing his ever word. As I tend to ramble and lose my point within the rant, I shall step back and wait to see what the future holds.
Respectfully

>>As far as Seamus' support is concerned. I once remember Dal cheering on the opponent in a challenge against a loyal baron. Think on that. It is friendship that matters over all<<
I believe that baron then turned renegade, then challenged Dal for the overlord crown. The baron then said Dal wasn't a friend.
Basically, as I should have reworded: Seamus was "in between loyalties" one could say, and he chose a renegade which shows that hesupports someone who wants the title of renegade.
Honestly, I'm not that mad at Seamus, save for a few incidents. He knows how hurt I was when he told me to be quiet on the boards. The fact that he'd let someone change a title of loyalties, and support them disappoints me.
Honestly, Seamus, or Adonai: if I said publicly, "You can consider me a renegade to X" just to get people to challenge me, wouldn't you consider that the LEAST bit childish? Or if I were to say, "Seamus, I don't like you" just to get people to challenge me, wouldn't you feel used?
No, Seamus, I'm not saying I don't like you. Past actions have given me the idea that I wasn't as special a friend to you as you were to me, that's all.

>My loyalties to Dal are essentially the same Var, my friendship to him is also, you think I've changed liking him because I've changed the loyalty of the ring? God your shallow.<
Actions speak louder than words. You have loyalty for him, maybe you want to consider yourself a loyal baron. Even neutral. You go and play, Adonai, remember those who had the ring before you, that they would at least not be so fickle.
And I like you as much as you like me. I find it immature for a baron to declare themself a renegade just for "excitement".
>As far as the rings concerned. Its my ring, and I'll play with it how I want. You don't like it....you know what you can do about it.<
You're more blind than the arena is boring then, Adonai. I already stated I would not give you what you wanted. And again, you state your cocky attitude by saying, "It's mine, and I'll do what I want with it."
Do you abuse your pets, Adonai? They're yours. How about children? Do you kick the couch around? What about the next person that holds that ring? You're tainting it. If you truly think of it as "just a ring" maybe you should just retire it now. That's something to symbolize effort and honor.
I have a ring on my finger: a wedding ring. I know rings are powerful items of symbolism. There's NOTHING I would do, to taint this band of love I have for my wife, as I don't think is mature, to taint that ring of honor, just to get a "challenge"
>Dalamar has 1 renegade in the entire council. Do you think he gives a rats hind end. I do not venture to speculate on his opinion, but I would think not were I in his position.<
One can have many friends, but when one declares themself renegade to have fun, I would understand how Dal would get upset, because I certainly would, and, understandably, I think you would too.
And I can understand you standing by Adonai as a friend. If I were to root for someone, and this person has "pledged opposing loyalties" to you, I could not consider myself a friend to you. Now I apologize if I misconstrued your actions, and I apologize to you only.
Hopefully, Seamus, we can work our disputes out, because your friendship was something I valued. I still do not agree with Adonai's actions, as you know, and I personally do not understand how one can condone childish behavior, when I expected more from a baron (regarding Adonai).
As you said, I may not be able to see much farther than my nose... but there's the rest of me behind this nose, and inside is a soul, Seamus. Emotions are more powerful than anything physical... I do know, that my morals will always be true, and whom I consider a friend.
So you do what you want, Seamus. I commend you on not abusing your ring.

"What I find even more insulting is another loyal publicly stating he'll support a renegade in his endeavors, when, to my understanding, a loyal's priority is the overlord."
As long as the renegade's endeavours do not include seeking the overthrow of the Overlord, there is no conflict. Adonai has not declared opposition to the Overlord; he has removed himself from the Overlord's protection.
What I find insulting is the unwarranted slur inherent within the implication toward my fellow highlander in the above quoted text.

Var,
You said it yourself, "Actions speak louder then words." I'm not even really fully reading your posts anymore on this thread because I am begining not to hear you because your drowning out like elevator music. Either put up in a baronial challenge or shut up already.
Adonai,
While I might not agree with your approach, I think in terms of duelers should defend that which they have earned as often as possilbe to keep the spirit of the rings vibrant. Your reasons are your own and in some ways I understand your view of boredom in the rings. IMHO, the skill of days past is lacking except for a handful of regulars, so anything to light a fire around here is healthy for the life of the rings.
Anyone else who cares to hear,
As Adonai so well put, don't like his way then try to take it away from him, or otherwise quit your whining. IMHO, the spirit of the rings is always being on your toes especially as a title holder to defend those acomplishments which you have achieved. Complacency of the blade will lead to a quick death.

Fellow Patrons of the Duel of Swords,
It seems the people involved in this discussion have called for my opinion, but I will involve myself in this frivolous debate only to prevent further speculation and needless arguing.
First, Var, I would like to thank you for your support. Good intentions are always of supreme importance, and you have clearly exhibited the finest of intentions. Your loyalty is much appreciated and will never be over-looked.
Now, I would like to make clear that I bear Baron Adonai no ill-will as regards our friendship. His actions are his own, and I understand that this has nothing to do with our personal relationship. He continues to be a friend; *end* of discussion.
Thirdly, as regards to Baron Seamus's offering of support to Baron Adonai. Needless to say, this is *not* something that I find in the least bit offensive. There is no conflict of interests unless Adonai were to act in a manner that sought to undermine the throne. Then, of course, this would become a problem, but I expect that Seamus-- a friend and loyal baron-- would continue to support me; therefore I do not need to enter this realm of
possibility.
Finally, we reach the touchiest issue. I happen to have my own personal feelings on the way Baronial Rings and Loyalty should be handled; to be honest, I do not agree with Baron Adonai. Now, Baron Adonai has disagreed with me in the past as well. This is the nature of friendship: to be able to disagree without it becoming an all out war. Despite my disapproval of the seeming frivolity with which Adonai has handled his status of loyalty, I would
*never* purport to tell him how to handle himself. He is an honorable and respected member of the dueling community, and I trust that he will always do what he believes to be right. If that is in opposition to what I believe to be right, as it has been in the past, we will discuss the issue and attempt to resolve it.
These are my feelings on this matter. I do hope that we can now cease to continue with the majority of the arguing; I do so hate to see such issues

>Billy Ray once was a renegade and held ques, you didn't open your mouth then. So go to hell okay?<
I wasn't here when BRK was baron. Good comparison. According to the history, he didn't switch from loyal to renegade either because he was bored. I wouldn't have cared as much if you were renegade initially; really Adonai.
>What I find insulting is the unwarranted slur inherent within the implication toward my fellow highlander in the above quoted text.<
I apologized to Seamus for the misunderstanding. And I apologize to you if I insulted you, Iain.
>As long as the renegade's endeavours do not include seeking the overthrow of the Overlord, there is no conflict. Adonai has not declared opposition to the Overlord; he has removed himself from the Overlord's protection.<
I believe that's what neutral alignment's for.
> Shut ye mouths and just challenge him, alright?!?!?!<
I guess you still don't get it, Evan. I'm not going to challenge him just because he's bored.
>You said it yourself, "Actions speak louder then words." I'm not even really fully reading your posts anymore on this thread because I am begining not to hear you because your drowning out like elevator music. Either put up in a baronial challenge or shut up already.<
You don't need to read everything, but you seem to miss the point again and again. When a child kicks and screams for a cookie, it isn't the best thing to hand the child this cookie. The child will kick and scream for another cookie. I'm not going to be putting on a top hat and dance shoes to entertain lil' ol' Adonai.
Please, before insulting, read the facts.
Additively, Dal can agree or disagree with what he wants. I respect him for being impartial. I'm loyal to Dal, simply, and I do not agree with Adonai's actions.

Var,
If you keep comparing me to a child I will personally see to stomping the largest mudhole in the world dead center in the middle of your chest. Quit pushing me boy, the debate is closed. Dal said his piece, and its over, go home and hide under your wife's skirts a little longer. Maybe after that you'll have the stones to actually take a title, until then all your words and speculation are taking on a distinct edge of whining to me.

Taking a moment before heading off to the park with Delilah, Drakewyn reads a few of the notes, Chuckling as she does so. "Every time I take a day or two off, wild things start happening again..." glancing down at her daughter, she asks. "What do you think Delilah? Do I stay with my current plan, or challenge Adonai instead?"
Delilah thinks for a moment, then nods. "'donai scary, he yell at daddy."
Laughing quietly, Drake bends down and sweeps the two year old up into a hug. "Don't you worry little one, nobody would ever hurt you."
Taking out her quill pen with her free hand, she posts a little note to the board.
Baron Uziel:
I somehow get the feeling you'll find a way to take insult from this, but I'll say it anyway.
Weren't you the one who, not very long ago, was complaining about all the challenges that were coming your way? Complaining about how it seemed that so few had respect for your ability to hold the ring you wear? Then going on about how you always, except in one case, defended your ring without the Overlord's intersession? I'm sure that anyone who truely wished to challenge you would realize this and know, with a small amount of sureity, that
you would face them in the ring without Dalamar testing them.
If you're really that bored, maybe you should take up the Duel of Magic, or the Duel of Fists... I'm sure there are many other things out there to help drive away boredom... Personally, I hardly have the time to duel some nights... but then, I always take time to spend with my daughter.
And, again meaning no offence, perhaps that's something you might want to think about... Children are a joy, and I'm sure your daughter could keep you busy enough with her antics to keep you from getting bored.
Having said my piece, I am...

If you don't want to be compared to a child, then don't act like one. Simple. Maybe my son can teach you why it's naughty to change loyalties just because you're bored. By the way, how many challenges have you recieved so far? I'm just curious, since this was your purpose.
