Bah, to hell with it. (Challenge to the Overlord)

Dalamar my friend, Fellow Barons, and Patrons of the Duels,

Let me try and explain myself here, so no one takes this wrong or tries to stick words in my mouth or anything like unto that.
I went Renegade to get a que of challenges, maybe to lose the ring, maybe not....it didn't really matter since I was feeling a need for a change one way or the other and a few challenges might have freshened my view of things around here.
Also I am a being that thrives of momentum and forward motion....I do not stand easy when I have still a level beyond me to reach to, but cannot do so. So I had tried to assuage my boredom and the creeping fear of stagnation by loading myself up with challenges, but alas, seems the worthy warlords of the community have better things to do with their peer wins at this time, and I am not, nor have I ever been a patient being.
So thusly, with only one direction to go, I shall take it. Call it ambition, call it dishonor, call it what you will. Opinions are rampant, and I am not very concerned with them. I do this for me, not out of any particular dislike for Dalamar, but to save my own sanity, and to feel as if I am doing something other than holding a ring.
I had mentioned in a post when I won this ring that I did not wish to merely sit on it. And aye...the first 4 challenges came very fast, and caused me some distress...but did not in fact, bother me to the point of hiding under a rock.
So aye, I am a Renegade, and aye, I do at this time assert my right to challenge to Overlord within this cycle. Not out of particular hope of winning, but out of a need to try....otherwise I'll go insane.
Dal, this has been a long time coming. I still honor you as a friend, but I must do what I feel I need to do. I would prefer a weekend meeting if possible, and would like to at least ask that you consider one of our newer callers for the match, as we can't let the veterans get all the glory now can we?

I am,
~Adonai Uziel
~DragonLord of RhyDin
~Renegade Baron of the Seventh
Stand still and life will pass you by, walk and you'll just miss it, run and you always be one step behind. Its when you learn to fly that you will finally surpass it and meet it head on. -Adonai Uziel

As a loyal friend to Dal, I wish him luck in the challenge. As Adonai probably knows, I don't agree with his reasoning, but it is his right as a renegade to do so.

Respectfully,
Var Medici-Giovanni

Dalamar,

This challenge most surely calls into conflict my strong belief that Baron's should not have to fight the Test of Worthiness. I find myself tempted to offer you my blade for such a test, but alas, I must stick to my convictions. As such, I'll simply wish you the best of luck.

If you do decide to use the test I will, of course, be forced to issue my usual complaints, but if you do use it, I urge you to employ a duelist who may directly challenge the Baron if successfull in the Test. Remove this disgrace of a baron from the council.

Adonai:

When you altered your alignment, you stated directly that you had no desire to stand in opposition to the Overlord. I defended your stance when you were attacked.

Meanwhile, you have consistently accused me of seeking the Overlordship for myself, despite my protestations to the contrary. For months you have done this, and I have not acted.

Months.

And it took you all of two weeks.

I am disheartened, appalled, insulted, and - most of all - wounded. The very thing which you have attempted to slander me with, you do yourself.

In light of this, Adonai Uziel, Lord of the Valheru, do not ever presume to accuse me of deceit, underhanded plotting, or sneaky motivations again. Ever,

Or we will meet outside the rings, one final time. This is not a threat; it is simply that if you ever have the gall to hypocritically cast aspersions on my intentions again, I would sooner be dead myself than live in a world with the likes of you.

Dismayed,

Iain MacKenzie

Friends and Patrons of the Duel of Swords,

As of this time, I have yet to receive official notification of challenge from Baron Uziel. I have no doubt that this was merely an oversight on his part, and that shortly I will receive a letter addressed directly to me that will request a meeting in the ring.
In the meantime, I will again say that I, no doubt, am bothered by Adonai's whimsy. I cannot force my values or feelings on him or anyone else, but I clearly can display atleast a modicum of displeasure with such actions as these.

Baron Uziel,

You continue to perplex me. I believe I shall leave it at that. Now, when the official challenges comes, I will, as usual select the date, time, and caller for the affair. You need only show up. If you should win the challenge, I will be receiving your Baronial Ring, and I would like you to know that I will resign it immediately. I do not believe that someone is deserving of a Baronial Ring because they lost a challenge match.
I now challenge you to do the same. Should I defeat you in the ring, you will resign from your position and leave your "stagnant" post and take your need for momentum elsewhere. Of course, you can simply say No to my challenge, but I think it only fair that you let this be the final chapter in my involvement with your inconsistancy. Should you, for whatever reasons, refuse this counter-challenge, I would like to atleast request that you venture
into the realm of true "Neutrality" from that day forth.

respectfully,
Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon

::scratches his head now knowing this was Adonai's plan all alone, and thinks silently to himself:: "The ink had hardly dried on the new official posting on Adonai's change in rank, and yet he had not waited 24 hrs before he stepped forth to challenge Dalamar. The veil of deciet had been lifted in record time so that his own desires would not be delayed. Interesting indeed" ::Reaches into his breast pocket and tears up the missive he
was taking to the DoS offices, and goes about his merry way whistling, knowing his time will eventually come::

Maybe it's just me, but am for the idea or challenging to Overlordy...
Even if it is just to sit on the throne....
Is this a fighting arena?
or is this a political scene?
If it is a fighting Arena, then there should be fights...especially fights against the greatest fighter....
When you gain the position, you also gain the attention and the adversaries, it comes with the job....
If Joe Blow gains rank, and challenges the Overlordy, then im for it
Any overlord who just sits around hoping not to be challenge should not stay overlord....
the position was made to be defended...Physically,....not politically.....

"My Votes for Adonai!" "Mine for Dal!"
The arena is not a ballot box, it is a fighting zone....

personally i don't know Dal very well and maybe i should be calling him Dal, but i can't remember his whole name,
but anyways, it is nothing against him, i have only fought him once and i can bareley remember his face....
Im not rooting for Adonia cause i don't really know him either...

But considering we all fight, and most of us do it to gain rank, it should not have to stop at Baron if you have a slight twitch to go for the throne....

Passing thru the arena, arm-in-arm with Nimmy, the angel pauses, blinks and tugs Nim back to the ancient cork board. They both read of the Baron's challenge, turn, face one another and grin.

Cyggy's voice is light with a stiffled giggled, "Oh dear...I'm so shocked...."

Nim pokes her in the side as they stand there reading the responses, then Cyggy whispers,
"Interesting that Adonai wants to suggest a newer caller.", shaking her head.

Nimmy just nods thinking the very same thing.

::uncringes from his ball that he has been in, so that he can read the post::

Well...well...well. This is certainly interesting.

::wonders what would have happened if he had just challenged Adonai instead. Sighs::

My lord,

I wish you great luck in your defense, and see that your counter challenge is one of great honor, and respect. If i were not in my own challenge i would lay down my sword for you... but i respect your decision to face Adonai head on. May the sun shine on your path.

Adonai,

I think it is only natural for you to go ahead and try to achieve a higher status, and find no blame with you for it. you are here to fight, and i respect your skills, and courage to do so. yet i question your honor. I ask this one question to you. Is there any other reason for you to challenge other than to gain the rank? I feel justiofied in my questioning, because you were once loyal, and the turned Renagade, with the promiss of not challenging
the OL i believe, although i might be wrong. I do respect you as a fighter, but await the answer to see you as a person.
