A slightly different view

Krollon awoke early, the dreams in his sleep having been a bit alarming. With determination, he made his way to the Arena, knowing it would be quiet. Surely enough, not a soul was to be found, allowing him some time for quiet reflection. As is his way when thinking deep thoughts, he began to speak to himself.
"Have I been here too long? Over six years ago I came to RhyDin. I have never held the position of Baron. I am barely retaining a hold on being a WarLord. Perhaps, facing peers at every turn his cost me a few victories, but isn't that who I should be vying against? What has happened to me? Once, I enjoyed the sport for the competition and the friendships. But, now, nearly every word one says is taken in a political sense. The question is: Do
I fight the current, do I follow the current, or do I get the heck out of the river?" His musings went on for a bit, then changed topic.
"And what of Topaz? I love her more than anything in my life, but do I deserve her? Her skill far exceeds my own, and though her success does not bother me, will my own mediocrity be enough for her to live with? Two weeks until the wedding and I already worry about failing her as I have failed so many in my life." Again, he continued to speak aloud of various things until he finally fell silent, kneeling in the center of the ring where it all
began.
Slowly, he looked up to the heavens, seeking an answer. "Mother, what should I do?"
((Note: not a post but merely a scene played out in the Arena during the quiet hours of the afternoon for any who walk in to overhear as they wish.))

Lupton awoke early, the dreams in his sleep having been a bit alarming. With determination, he made his way to the Arena, knowing it would be quiet. Surely enough, not a soul was to be found, allowing him some time for quiet reflection. As is his way when thinking deep thoughts, he began to speak to himself.
"Have I been here too long? Over three years ago I came to RhyDin. I have twice held the position of Baron. I am easily retaining a hold on being a WarLord. Perhaps, facing peers at every turn his given me a few too many victories, but isn't that who I should be vying against? What has happened to me? Once, I enjoyed the sport for the competition and the friendships. But, now, I enjoy it for pummeling pseudo-intellectual morons. The question
is: Do I pummel this newbie, that newbie, or that aged Baron lass?" His musings went on for a bit, then changed topic.
"And what of Topaz? I believe her fit for gutter work. My skill far exceeds her own, and though my success does not bother me, will my own greatness be enough for her to live with?" Again, he continued to speak aloud of various things until he finally fell silent, kneeling in the center of the ring where it all began.
Slowly, he looked up to the heavens, seeking an answer. "Falon, what should I do?"

:::feels very much the same thing as Adonai, but refuses to stoop down to Lupton's incredibly low-level of intelligence in this matter:::

The day somewhat tedious, Cyggy peeks into the arena. There she witnesses something that just makes her mouth drop.
Twice.
In all her nebulous, celestial glory, she fades, mumbling softly,
"oh heavens...what next..."

::Catches sight of Cyggy before she vanishes and snickers:: " Lupton having a Baron Ring of the third time. " Smirks with a wink and kicks open the doors, steping out of the Arena. ::

A voice comes from the air, or maybe it's just in his mind, Krollon can't really be sure.
"Remember who you are, my son. You are not what your father wished of you. You are not a dark destroyer of worlds as he was. You are not the Reaper. You are Krollon, my beloved son."
A small tear forms in his eye which he quickly blinks away. He smiles as he rises, the gentle reminder of who he is and has always been making things seem so much more clear now. With determination, he strides off.
