Ladies and Gentlemen of the sport...
On this eve I did witness the grand challenge between Warlord Rand al'Tan and the Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon. My colleage, the Lady Alais did call the first match, which transpired as follows...
Dalamar Rand Score
Fancy Circle Parry Circle Parry 0-0
Low Cut Duck 1-0
Thrust Stop Hit 1-1
Fancy Circle Parry Duck 1-1.5
High Cut Low Cut 2-2.5
Fancy Sidestep Stop Hit 2-2.5
Stop Hit Slash 3-2.5
Fancy Sidestep Thrust 4-2.5
High Cut High Cut 4-2.5
Stop Hit Slash 5-2.5
Thus did Dalamar take the first duel by the score of 5 - 2.5 in 10 rounds.
The winds of fate prevented Lady Alais from continuing, so I stepped in to call the second match of the duel, which transpired thusly...
Dalamar Rand Score
Fancy Circle Parry Slash 0-1
High Cut High Cut 0-1
Low Cut Low Cut 0-1
Fancy Sidestep High Cut 0-2
Stop Hit Thrust 1-2
Fancy Duck High Cut 2-2
Fancy Sidestep Fancy Disengage 2-2
Low Cut Fancy Circle Parry 2-3
Thrust Fancy Sidestep 2-4
Fancy Lateral Parry Slash 2-5
Thus did the challenger Rand take the second duel by the score of 5-2 in 10 rounds.
When the Lady Alais still did not make an appearance, I called for the third and deciding match, which transpired as follows...
Dalamar Rand Score
High Cut Fancy Disengage 1-0
Low Cut Stop Hit 2-0
Thrust Fancy Duck 3-0
High Cut Fancy Sidestep 4-0
Low Cut Fancy Duck 5-0
Thus did Overlord Ar'Daumon take the final duel by the score of 5-0 in five rounds, and so does he retain his mantle and crown as Overlord of the Duel of Swords, having proven victorious in the best of three match.
I do here-by avow that this match took place as I did witness it on this, the Seventh of July by the Gregorian calendar.

::he walked up and read the results of the challenge. It had been a good match through the first two duels...but the third? A 5-0 sweep...an unusually offensive show by Dalamar, who had started each other duel with a parry...and a purely bizarre effort by Rand, who should-- no, does-- know better than to sidestep directly after an opposing thrust, and duck directly after an opposing high cut::
::he then walked away from the corkboard, thinking hard about what might have happened in that third duel, as he asked himself "What's going on?"::
((Of course, not a post.))

::reads the post and shakes his head, knowing full well that no one in their right mind would duel the way Rand did on the final match of the night before.::

::Reads the post, and wonders at how Rand could have lost in the third round. Lets a small smile play on his lips, as he mutters something::

::having watched the match itself, comes over to the board later to see what kind of response the results had garnered::
::seeing no visible signs, takes the opinion that no one wants to be the first to criticize Rand in his choice of maneuevers at the end of the deciding match::
::merely shakes his head, thinking much the same as before when he first witnessed the moves himself, glad that someone that did so many slashes, disengages, and poorly chosen moves did not end up as the supreme dueler of the DoS::

I wonder how Rand and Dal managed to get such high ranks with such pitiful skill as that.

...Nods at Sidartha's words to Zem. Tacks up a post of his own...
Actually, when did he beat anyone on a consistent basis?
Someone who has beaten Zem on a consistent basis

:::Adds her two cents to the old cork board::::
Those who cannot, brag about it...
These are my letters to the world,
Which never wrote to me...

::Looks to the corkboard and chuckles... and I guess none of us have ever completed a duel and thought that we could have done better... I have laughed at myself many a times at the dumb mistakes I've made and a few of them were against the Overlord.::
