On the issue of aligning to the Overlord because of how you feel about other Loyals:

While the saying "Your enemy's enemy is your friend" turns out to be true more often than not, that doesn't mean that "Your friend's friend is your friend" neccessarily holds water.
If you ever took the time to notice, the web of friendships, alliances, and rivalries in the Community is a complex one. And it is the mark of a mature man to accept that a friend of yours also is a friend of someone you don't like, and not hold your mutual friend over a fire for it.

But I was more aware of Daelin's discontentments than Drey was; I was actually told by the source about them, and it's my belief Daelin wouldn't change alignments anyhow.

In closing, Drey, if you really have that much a problem with Daelin's decisions as Baron of the 11th, get your Warlord status back, challenge him.

Eh...pardon me for bringing this out, I could be wrong...

Drey,

Was it not you who complained about correcting others' grammar? If it was you, why do it to Dae? Wouldn't that make you the sad hypocrite?

Quite disappointing my dear. You know how harpish the patrons of DoS are...

My dear Lexi,

I didn't correct anything Dae wrote or anything about his grammar.
If you are regarding the post I had written regarding MY OWN personal writing and calling MYSELF a fool, then hey, please, defend myself against myself.

Pardon me, Lexi.

People are often times judged by those who they associate with. Sometimes opnions are based not on the merits of one person, but rather the group a person hangs out with. When one chooses to "align" themself with another, then they are often aligning themselves not only with that person but that person's other allagiances and associations whether
wanted or unwanted. What a person must determine for themselves is if their alignment to an individual is an alignment to them, to what they represent, or to a group of people they are apart of. In determining any continued association, especialy in regards to "loyalty" to that person, whether in this sport or beyond it's rings, one must consider all the potential factors. For the good of themselves, for the good of those they associate with, and
for the good of the environment/community that these associations are carried out in. the choise is yours, the preferences indivudla, but there is by no means a definite right or wrong way to chose your alignment to anyone anywhere, including the Overlord of DoS.

Be advised however that your choices and your justifications for those choices will more than likely not be accepted by a majority or minority of individuals and/or groups, while some won't care, and others may approve. The point being, do what you feel is right, and be prepared to whether whatever storm might come from whichever horizon.

>And, as a Patron of the Duel of Swords, I should be able to eavesdrop on
>anything I want to regarding the sports growth the elements of the upper
>ranks.

There is something wrong with this statement. More, there is something wrong with this attitude. I know the reason for this attitude, but that doesn't make it any less objectionable. A private conversation is a private conversation, and eavesdropping is an invasion of privacy. One might argue that Daelin and Magnus were imprudent in holding their conversation in the Arena, but their imprudence does not make the eavesdropping any less objectionable
either.
When Drey, a relatively new but in the past relatively sensible and well comported individual, espouses such a dangerous idea one has to ask where he got the idea. The explanation is simple enough. There are those who make a hobby out of manipulating and misinterperting what others say in their private discussions under the aegis of 'the good of the sport'. Their conduct is considered noble and they are respected.
Drey is obviously learning from that example. I don't believe he is deliberately misrepresenting what Daelin said, but he could easily have misunderstood. When eavesdropping, one often fails to hear the entire conversation in its entire context. Which is why a good deal of the information gained by eavesdropping is useless.
However, would I be writing this post if someone other than Drey had done the eavesdropping? Probably. Would anyone else care if the eavesdropping was done and justified by someone other than Drey? I think it depends on who it was.

Personally, I think all these petulant little diatribes could mostly (read: mostly) be done away with if people would just bring themselves back to reality for a few moments and ignore the soap opera politics in order to remember that this is a sport and not a political regime. If you've got enemies here, you take care of that on your own time. If you've got friends you disagree with, you discuss it with them face to
face and don't look for answers from other people.
Loyal or Renegade. One person's choice. Trust me, if the community could vote for barons and their alignments, no one would ever be baron, let alone aligned. Barons might base these individual choices on friendships or dislikes, feelings toward tests or what-have-you; but at the end of the day, those two words, "loyal" or "renegade", should mean about as much to people on the outside of the title as what the Overlord wants to eat for dinner.
Sure, you've got the folks who want to challenge because of one of those alignments, and that is their perogative; however -and I say this with all the hope of someone that was here before those rings- deep down inside, I sincerely hope they're fighting the fight for the ring, for the honor of holding that title, to see if they've got what it takes to ascend to the pinnacle of this sport ... not simply for the ability to slap a label on a piece of
metal.
