I have sent out a statement of challenge to the Renegade Baron Rand alTan for his ring and position as Baron in accordance with the Duel of Swords Rules.
As you can probably imagine due to my lack of political views, and the lack of politics I have seen Rand get into while I have been paying attention, you can pretty much imagine that this challenge has *nothing* to do with politics. It is merely a Challenge for his Ring, to further the sport.
My motivations (and they are merely motivations, not really reasons) are thus:
-I am looking to move up in rank from Warlord,
-I consider myself Loyal to our Overlord, and Rand is Renegade,
-Every other Renegade Baron is pending challenge(or just finished a challenge), and I 1)don't want to be in a queue, and 2)think each Baron deserves a roughly equal number of challenges, and I will do what I can to help that.
There are other motivations in the back of my mind that helped me decide to do this, and they are not public matter.
Now....for the dreaded...
~~~~~PEER WINS~~~~~
Score Peer(s)
5-0 Skyler JC
5-2 RLupton, Rand alTan, KnghtVHonR
5-3 TinyTopaz, Raiyko, Draven Il
5-3.5 Rix Favre
5-4 HumaDragbn, Ecore X, GnrtDrgoon, Sir Cetran
((Don't worry, the official statement of challenge has the dates and callers))
As you can see, I decided to list them a bit differently. I just wanted to put a nice twist into the seeming "contest" of staying off Peer Win Lists.
Take this challenge at face value. I am a Warlord. I have 10 (or more) Peer Wins. I challenge. I could care less if I win or lose. Winning isn't everything nor the only thing, but merely something nice that has happened to me more than 15 more times than I lost, as well as more than 10 times against Warlords. I will go back to being a Warlord and continue duelng if I lose, and will claim my ring as Baron and continue dueling if I win. You may ask then, why challenge if you don't care? I do care
about winning, but It doesn't effect me if I lose.
Enough said. Lets end the rambling here before I say something I really don't want to say, though I probably already did. I hope I didn't offend anyone. If I did I probably didn't mean it. I just want to express my views and make a challenge.
Yes. Enough for a simple challenge post. No more. End of post.
I am sure this will be cleared up soon but my husband has always considered himself loyal to the Overlord.
I am confident that Golden and my husband can resolve this.
Accident or not he wants the ring.... Intentional and otherwise, i wish the Baron the best of skill despite the reasons.
Dexter,
With all the misunderstanding and tensions going on around here, I truly appreciate your clarification -- I certainly did not mean to imply this should cancel the challenge. That most certainly is up to the Challenger.
Regards,
Morgan
There's no breathing space around here to even make a challenge if you want one... things were slow for a good while but boom! Everything's heptic.
All in good fun.
After much thought and discussion, I have decided to not retract my challenge due to the new information of Rand being Loyal. This decision was not easy to come to, as there were equal arguments both ways, and no one thing convinced me to continue instead of withdrawing.
Thank you to all who discussed the subject with me, for your input and opinions.
Warlord Steven Glowacki and the DoS,
I do accept your challenge pending the verification of your peer wins. I am assuming that all will be well in that area.
As you probably know, there was some discussion about this challenge. Both Steven and I talked about it, and Steven decided to continue with the challenge. Though I disagree with some of his reasons, I understand at least one of them completely. To challenge is to challenge. I do swear I will do my best to retain the ring, and, allowing myself more bragging than usual, Steven, you are going to have to work hard for this one, regardless of your peer win list.
At such time that those wins are verified and this duel can commence with officiality, I will let you know of my wishes for its details.
A challenge....with a disagreement...where it all was just talked out and resolved without mudslinging or mindless insults?
Goddess....what's the Arena coming to?
Having received word from RDI Golden that the peer wins are in fact valid, I thought about when I could be here to receive your challenge.
Warlord Steven, I ask that we have this challenge on Monday night/Tuesday morning, August 25/26 at 12:30 am of the eastern clock (11:30 pm for me). I ask also that we meet in the Basement Annex. I will look into a caller for our meeting, hoping for either RDI Alais or RDI Golden if this is fine with you.
My colors are black, red, gold, and white. My two insignia, a sinuous golden dragon with red-tipped claws on a field of black, and the symbol of the Aes Sedai ( yin yang ). My Lady of Honor will be my wonderful wife Morgan. I do not know my second at this time. I await your response.
Friends,
I have decided, upon Steven's request, to try to hold this challenge on Sunday night. I would like it to take place at midnight eastern time. I would ask RDI Alais if fshe would be willing to call for this challenge, and if she cannot, then RDI Golden.
I hope this works for everyone.
