Sond sat at the far end of the damp cave he had been using since his return to Rhy Din. Alone again, he shivered, but not from the cold. It had been seeing people from his past that caused the tremors in his hands. People like Jeff ,Jona, Dak, and Lady Rae. He thought about Rae a moment, his thoughts turning to he sister Poi, Poi had been a friend, perhaps more than a friend. She had seen past his hideous face and deformed body. She had seen the man
inside the beast. Scad was there as well, and many others he had known.
Sond looked down at the ground, and screamed out in rage "One of them? Is it to be one of the people I once loved? Was the sin I committed so terrible, that I should be thus punished?"
With the fury of his father, Sond smashed his hand into the stone wall. He struck out again and again, punctuating each blow with a single word. SMASH "What" SMASH "Makes" SMASH "You" SMASH "Think" SMASH "I" SMASH "Will" SMASH "Kill" SMASH "One" SMASH "Of" SMASH "Them?" Again and again he struck, until at last blood began to splattered his face, blinding him.
Unable to contain the shaking that racked his deformed body, Sond collapsed to the floor. His mind reeling, he began to relive that day again. The day the dream had died, the day his heart had been rent asunder, and with tears streaming down his cheeks he remembered every detail.
>>SOND’S MEMORY OF THE DAY HE LEFT RHY-DIN<<
Sond stood by the rose bush in the garden, looking at the wilted leaves and dying flowers. Slowly he reached out his hand, only to have the dead plant crumble at his touch. As Sond began to tremble, a single tear slid down his cheek. He knew then, knew before anyone had a chance to tell him, what had happened. In one stroke it had all been taken away, the happiness, the love, the very dream. Sond threw back his head and screamed in pain. "NESSA,
NO!" Collapsing to the ground he wept bitterly.
When the sun went down, the guards gently carried him to his room in the tower. Unsure what, if anything could be done for the high priest, they murmured amongst themselves about the dark times that had befallen the land. But Sond no longer heard them, Sond was already beyond anyone’s reach. Now he wondered the twisted paths of his mind, lost in the memories of the few happy days he had been given. He remembered the day he had met Nessa, and Kart ,
and all the others. He remembered the day that ShadowHawk had pulled him back from deaths icy grip, and how he had pledged that day to follow the path of the church.
Sond sat bolt upright and sucked in a deep shuddering breath, feeling as if he had been dropped in an icy stream. Taking up his pen he jotted down a short note "I Sondragon do hear by renounce all titles and claims to any and all possessions of this, or any other realm in Rhy-Din. To no one lies any blame for what I do this day, excepting myself."
Sond paused a moment, then a little farther down the page he wrote.
"Near, far wherever you are."
"I believe that the heart does go on."
"Once more, you open the door."
"And you’re here in my heart."
"And my heart will go on and on"
Below the song verse he signed
"True heart, travel well. You go ahead to light our way, and sleep with the stars. Truly you will show them how to shine
Sond."
Sond closed his eyes and pictured the vast plane to which Nessa and Kart had ridden a silver dragon.
Upon that fateful day, they had sought to touch the heavens, and they had. Now Sond longed to see that place one last time. As the picture of the plane became clear in Sond’s mind, the magic took hold, and he shifted.
Sond stood upon the vast plane, and looked up at the stars. He thought about his father, and how he had killed himself when the pain of life had grown to great to bear. "Odd" he thought "It’s not the pain that I can’t bear. It’s the emptiness"
With a heave of his powerful arms, Sond plunged the dragon bane tipped spear into his chest , and crumpled to the ground, dead.
The nightmare over, sond lay on the cold floor of the cave, his eyes open yet unseeing. "May the gods have mercy on me, and grant me a lasting death"
A dragon without heart. A man without soul

::He found himself walkin upon an old trail, long abandoned and forgotten...His mind whirled with the many thoughs that plagued him, of those that he had been with, of his friends, of old times, and now of new. There were so many things he wished he had done, but now...now it was too late to do them. He was getting old, perhaps too old for this realm. Age was something that he did not feel, yet lately he could.
The trail carried him through a plane, a forest, over hills, and through a vally..but now, he was within another forest, one which held the base of a mountain in it. A low thud came from the mountain, and it seemed that the moutain screamed with pain with each pounding. As if it were human...
Tass found himself lookin into the face of a cave at the base of the mountain...the scream and pounding coming from within. He took a step forward, feelin a bit of a rush at not knowing what lied within, but also knowing that what was within might not want to be bothered. The decision was made when he thought he heard weepin. Tass solmly steped into the cave::
