Huma stood beside Aja as she browsed the corkboard in the arena."I'm going to the bar for a bit hun" Huma said after rubbing her tummy and patting her bottom on his way towards the stairs. He mounted Dogfood and headed to the bar. Huma shoved the door open and strolled in, it seemed normal enough, twelve patrons all going about their own business. Vedo stood behind the bar, organizing the
liquors. Huma wandered over and ploped down on a stool.
"How goes the war Vedo?"
"We are winning." Was Vedo's reply. "Been pretty busy for a sundey. It's the quietest right now it's been since we opened this morn." Vedo shrugged as he pulled a glass from the rack, filling it with whiskey and sliding it to Huma.
"Ah well, more business is good...what ever your doing, keep it up." Huma grinned as he sipped the whiskey.
The two men talked for nearly an hour...many people came and went, a group of four sat in the center of the tavern, from time to time, getting a bit rowdy and loud, but always seemed to quiet back down and smile at one another.
Huma looked around his tavern satisfied not noticing that another argument was brewing from within the small group. Huma chuckled as he watched Vedo fuss around the bar, making everything shine. It was Vedo who noticed something out of the ordinary.
"Um, boss?"
"Yeah Vedo?"
"I tink tings are about to get a tad bit ugly..."
"Oh?" Huma's brows furrowed together, wondering what Vedo was talking about. Vedo nodded his head to the center table, and the small group. One man was pointing his finger in anothers face, bending the man's nose to the side as he growled words at him, uncomprehendable to Huma and Vedo due to other conversations in the bar at the time. Both men having the look of fire in thier eyes as they exchanged words.Huma looked to Vedo and Vedo noded reading
the look and pulled the billy-club from under the bar. Huma stood slowly, watching the two men for a moment, wondering why the other two weren't trying to calm thier friends down. Huma had takin one step towards the group when the fight seemed to die right there, as both men sat back quietly and looked away from each other. Huma stopped and looked back to Vedo who just shrugged.
"Maybe i should be cutting them off now?" Vedo offered.
"Not a bad idea..." Huma said from the side of his mouth, still watching the group. "I really don't feel like cleaning up the mess of a brawl shou" Huma never got to finish his sentance. The man who had the others finger in his face picked his mug up and quickly bashed it against the table, sending shards flying and getting everyone in the tavern's attention before leaping over the table at the other man.
His target was slow reacting to the attack. He was thrusted with the broken mug directly into the side of the face. tearing the flesh of his cheek and sending him over backwards, with his attacker landing squarely ontop of him. Vedo reacted before Huma could finish the sentance by attempting to jump the bar, but failed miserably, lossing footing due to over polishing the shiny bartop. Vedo fell off the bar and onto the floor with a thud.
The other two men who had been sitting had the blades drawn, and had thier eyes on Huma who was now advancing to break the fight up. One of the men lunged at Huma with his short sword, scoring a small wound to his chest.
"Son-of-a..."Huma yelled and drew his sword out of anger. Vedo now on his feet used his club to stop another blade from striking Huma in the back, and with his free hand, decked the attacker in the side of the face breaking the man's jaw and sending him sprawling to the ground. Huma leveled out his sword to parry his first attackers next thrust, sending it to the ground, and responding with a kick to the midsection, followed by the pommel of his
sword to the back of the man's neck, breaking it quick and clean.
Vedo swung his club in a large arc, aiming for the head of the man he knocked down, but a longsword rom seemingly nowhere stopped the swing, as another sword came up at his neck from another direction. Vedo's only relfex was to drop. He dropped so fast to his knee's he suprised the first man who had blocked his club, bringing him into the oncoming sword's path. The blade peeled skin from the man's head, where on vedo it would have certainly
skewered his chest. The man fell lifeless to the floor as Vedo jerked his club free and spun around on his knee's to face the new threat...the man who had been struck in the face by the broken mug.
Huma had his hands full now, the man who had lunged at his friend with the broken mug now stood before him, sword in hand. Huma caustiously stepped to his right, eyeing the dangerous man. Upset cause his bar was now in a mess Huma stepped forward, swinging his sword high, looking to take the man's head off for starting a fight. His blade never found it's mark, the man lunged in low and fast, scoring a very deep wound to Huma's leg, causing Huma to
fall over, the muscle in the front of his leg having been almost completely severed.
The man grinned seeing the Baron laying on the ground bleeding. Huma not being one to give in so easily, managed to to his feet, leaning his weight on his left leg, since his right was now useless. He rasied his blade, ready to now take the defensive. The man lunged in again, Huma parried but not to the effect he would have liked. He managed to deflect the blade away from his heart, but to only take another wound to the side of his chest. Huma
cussed as the force of the blow toppled him again, the pain from his leg overwhelming him as the blood flowed freely. Huma lay on the ground for what seemed an eternity.
Vedo swung the club high, then low, locking up with his opponents sword each time. he tried a third swing, again going in low, catching the man off gaurd this time, and neatly breaking his knee, sending him to the ground. Vedo dared a glance to his boss Huma, and was shocked to see Huma on his back, about to be run through by his opponent. Vedo ignored the man on the ground as he lunged at Huma's attacker. He swung the club out visciously mid jump,
striking the man in the small of the back as he was bringing his sword down on Huma's chest, sending it awray, scoring a small cut to Huma's left arm. The man glared at Vedo and brought the sword up in a thrusting motion to the towering Vedo. Vedo was only able to grin at the anticipated move, as he clocked the man between the eyes with the club, causeing the man to loose the grip on his sword. A shadow crossed over the floor in front of Vedo,
causing hiw to spin to his left extending his foot, catching the other man unaware dislocating the aleady broken jaw. Vedo picked up huma's sword and stood over him as the two men considered thier next moves.
The two men looked to each other, then bolted for the door. Huma tilted his head seeing them run. "GO AFTER THEM!" He yelled.
"Yessir" vedo spoke as he ran out and jumped up onto dogfood and gave chase.
Huma layed there a moment longer...having a flashback from seeing a man standing above him, ready to end his life. Huma closed his eyes as fear of dying set in. His leg now numb and his body adjusting to the wound, he bleed less now, but was none the less still bleeding. Huma was cold, and he couldn't stand. Remembering his military training, Huma forced himself to roll over and to crawl behind the bar where Vedo had a mop. Hume climbed up the bar
grasping the mop, using it for a crutch. He moved back out to the center of the room, leaning heavily on the mop, he stopped near the table where the whole deal had started. He wanted to flip the table back to the upright position, but before he could do anything, Aja walked through the door. Huma looked at her and smiled "Hi babe! How was your day?"
A day, a brawl, an atempted assasination...

Aja walked into the bar expecting to see Huma polishing the bar or maybe yapping it up with some of the customers, she would have never in a million years expected to see what greeted her as soon as the door shut behind her.
Blood pooling on the floor from the bodies of the two men laying there, and Huma standing there with a mop, smiling at her strangely.
"Hi babe! How was your day?" he kept his smile and then pointed. "Don't step in that."
Aja looked at the blood covered floor again and made a face.
"How did this happen?" she looked around the bar slowly, surveying the damage. After a moment she realized that Huma hadn't answered her just yet. She looked at him closely as she stepped forward. "Um, dearest hubby of mine? What happened here?" Huma looked up at her slowly and sort of looked around.
"Um...nothing dear?" Aja made a sound of disbelief and Huma swallowed before answering. "Oh, *this*. I really don't know what happened." Aja sighed.
"Huma Dragonbane, I am in no mood for this. I'm pregnant and crabby. What happened?"
"Those two..." he points at the bodies on the floor. "Started a fight." Aja stepped around the mess and started looking him over. She tries to take the mop to get a better look at him, but he hangs on to it tightly.
"Do I need to get Parker?" Aja gives up trying to take the mop for the moment and starts to look at his arm. He looks around again.
"This place is a mess." he looks at himself. "So am I." Aja stopped her examination for the moment and looked at him.
"Do I need to get Parker?" She asked again.
"No, I'll live, just a couple of scratches. I'll live." he grinned a bit. "I'm gonna need a new shirt though." Aja eyed him up carefully and mutters to herself.
"Couple of scratches he says.." tries to move him so she can check him over, but he refuses to move.
"Wanna help me clean?"
"Help you clean?" Aja says in disbelief. "I want you to sit your happy butt down, so I can check you over." she tries unsuccessfully to heard him to a chair.
"I sent Vedo out after the others that participated in the little scuffle." Huma looks like he's getting annoyed with her poking at him. "I'm fine."
"Fine my behind...Now sit down."
"Aja really, I'm fine." he insists, and Aja notes a slight wobble in his stance. She starts to push him towards the chair.
"Huma, don't make me go into early labor by making me push your happy butt into that chair." Huma takes a step and falls over from the pressure on his wounded leg. Aja tries to catch him, just now seeing the wound in the dim bar light.
"Damn."
"Damn it woman, I said I was fine." he snapped.
"You are not fine! You're bleeding..." looks at the wound and gasps.."Oh my god.." Aja runs to the back room and grabs a blanket. She covers him up and looks at him. "I'm going to go get Parker. Don't move, I'll be right back!"

Aja ran to the yards and burst into Parker's lab. He turned in surprise, Aja grabbed his arm and his medical bag and handed it to him.
"Huma..he's hurt." was all she managed to get out, before she turned for the door and ran smack into Rico.
"What in the world is going on, Aja. You ran in here like the devil was after you!" Parker motioned for Rico to move, and Aja ran past him and the group that had followed.
"Huma's hurt, Rico. Let's go see what's going on. " Parker said as he passed him and followed after Aja.
The group headed to the Dragon's Lair and stepped inside after Parker and Aja. They were surprised to see the blood and bodies on the floor.
Huma was laying on the floor and Parker was starting to look over the wound while Aja held Huma's hands.
"I'm fine..damn it."
"Huma, I am not going to argue with you. Now let Parker fix you up." Aja held him against her and kept his hands in her to keep him from interferring with Parker.
Rico stepped over and touched her shoulder.
"We'll take care of the bodies for ya, boss."
"Ok, Rico..Thanks." Aja only glanced up at him afraid that Huma may try to stop Parker again while she wasn't watching him closely.
"It's a scratch hun.."
"It most certainly is not. Now hold still." Aja watched Parker work quietly and held Huma tighter when Parker went to add a stitch or two to the leg. She glances over to the guys and sees them carrying the bodies out f the bar. Rico nods to her as the second man is carried out. She returns the nod and looks back at Parker's work. "Where else are you cut?"
"Here and there." Huma smiles at her.
"Do I have to strip you to find out?"
"Hey..that's a good idea..Parker, beat it." Huma grins at her and she shakes her head.
"You are making me stress." Huma pulls off the blood soaked shirt to reveal the other cuts he recieved.
"I'm.." leans up and kisses her, wincing a little from the pain. "Fine, babe."
"Fine he says.." Aja kissed him back and looked up at Parker. "Parker, did you hear that? He's fine he says."
"I heard, MiLady." Parker said looking up for a moment. "But I do not see how."
Huma looked from Parker to Aja and sighed a bit.
"I've lived through a war, I have been hurt way worse than this. I even had a dragon fall on me for crying out loud!"
"I know snookums" Aja kissed his forehead. "But I don't want the baby to be without her daddy. So you just lay still and let Parker do his stuff."
"His daddy." Huma smiled up at her.
"Whatever. You do want to be here for this baby, no?"
"Takes more than a scratch to get rid of me." Parker looked up at Huma then.
"Any more scratches like that, Lord Huma, and you will be easy to get rid of." Huma smirked.
"Nah, I's tough." he grinned then. "Hell, I've eaten *her* cooking." Parker grinned at them both.
"Ah, a brave man indeed." Aja just shook her head and grinned.
Parker set the last bandage and looked at them.
"Make sure he gets lots of rest, stay off this leg for a while...At least walk with a cane for a while. And make sure he drinks the tea, Aja." she nodded and saw Huma look up at her curiously.
"Tea?"
"Tea."
"No tea."
"He'll take it, Parker." Huma whines a little.
"I don't want tea." Aja grinned at him and then looked at parker.
"I'll see that he does."
"I won't, I won't, I won't I tell ya!" Huma's baby voice made her laugh.
"Rico? Can ya all help me get him over to that couch?"
"Sure thing, Aja." The guys moved Huma over to the couch and Parker nodded when Aja whispered some orders to him.

Huma sat in his chair looking out the window at the snow. It had been a few days since the brawl turned swordfight in his tavern. His leg hurt still altho he would not admit to it if asked. His hand rested lightly on his crutch next to him as he watched the snow come down. He sighed heavily, his wound had kept him from dueling, and tonight there was a challenge match that he was to attend, and possibly use his political position to aid a friend.
"One hell of a time to be near crippled." Huma grumbled quietly to himself.
"Did you say something babe?" Aja poked her head from the kitchen into the living room.
"Just complaining of the weather hun."
"Ok sugar, are you ready for dinner?" Aja smiled as she asked him, knowing full well he wasn't complaining of the weather.
"Sure hun..." Huma leaned back after his quiet response. He could not figure why one man would try to kill his friend, then team up with him to try and kill yet another. It made no sense to him.
The Dragon's Lair had been opened back up on wednesday after a thourogh cleaning by Vedo and Gus. Business was slow due to rumors of the brawl...nobody wanted to risk being in a bar where ruffions tried to kill one another. Huma shook his head as Aja brought a tray with his dinner on it to him, setting it on his lap. Aja grinned at him as Huma eyed the mostly burnt food curiously.
"Um......babe?" Huma paused and stared at the food a moment before saying anything else.
"Yes darling?" Aja looked at Huma, trying hard not to grin. Aja knew she was a bad cook, she normally leaves the cooking to the house keeper Maria, but this evening, she dared to attempt fixing Huma his dinner herself.
"Babe...I am just a tad curious.....um....what *was* this originally?" Huma half grinned up at her, knowing she had done her best for him.
"Ah shoot, *I* don't even know what it was. It wasn't moving, so i threw it in a pan and fried it up." Aja giggled at him.
"Ahh..I see." Huma shook his head setting the tray on the coffee table. "Babe....I've been thinking."
"Uh-oh...that's never good darling."
Huma smirked and finished the thought, "I been thinking, and I can not for the life of me figure why those two men started to fight each other, then both try and kill me...and to top it off, the other two men with them just sat there till I tried to break the brawl up...I'm baffled....can you make heads or tales of it?"
"Baffled? You?" Aja giggled. "When is that different from any other time hon?" Huma frowned. Aja sighed at his lacking sense of humor. "No babe, it doesn't make any sense to me either. Maybe they were just drunk? Drunks do strange things ya know." Aja nodding sagley at Huma.
"Yeah...I suppose..." Huma whispered looking back to his leg, not really believing that to be the case....
