The summer's hint of golden heat...not quite yet, but the promise thereof in the spring's wind. With cloak slung over her shoulder, she strolled up the cobblestones of Main street RhyDin. The breeze suggested she swirl the heavy dark fabric around her, but the sunlight was convincing, and it had been a long....such a long ..winter.
Despite the afternoon's cheery surface, Luthien's eyes fell mostly on the path in front of her. Her sword was drawn and it doubled as a walking stick, ..something she would probably scold her sons for if she caught them so dulling their blades. The toe of her boot would come up to smack the flat of the blade, kicking it up in front of her a bit as she walked, then planting the tip into a crevice in the stones, her strides catching up with it again to
kick once more.
She stopped finally, in front of the Red Dragon Inn. She recognized a few of the horses tethered out front and nodded to herself. Narrowing her eyes, she raised the sword and cut through two sets of reigns. The startled beasts wasted no time in their escape. She considered a trip down into the basement, but now was not the time. It may never be time.
Ancient grey eyes tore away from the front door of the Inn. Every doorway she looked upon in the street was irritatingly familiar to her, looking up, even the skies were a picture portrait of a generic RhyDin. Her brow was set in a frown as quick steps carried her back up the lane from the Inn. She didn't notice when her cloak fell to the cobblestones, if she had, she would have left it there. What did it matter. What mattered...those were her
thoughts in general.
How long had it been since something mattered.....it had been too long since she had a cause. For joy, for purpose, ..something to ---...
...someone to, believe in.
What's the matter?
