The transformation had taken place without his calling and this brought more than a little concern to him. If he lost the ability to contain the rage then he only endangered those around him. But those thoughts were pushed away, just for tonight, as he allowed the sensation to wash over him and he persued the hunt.
The moon was thrown behind the cloud cover with just a trace of a breeze blowing. He had stayed downwind of the deer herd, stalking them for over an hour. On several occasions he had managed to get right beside one of the deer and pluck a hair from it's hide. It was a game he was enjoying. But growing quickly tired of.
The herd was not a large one and it would not do to over harvest it. With a quick calculation of the over-all number of deer around the Tower, Lyon decided that four from this herd would help to bring their number into a more managable state. The time to strike was upon him.
With three strides he was upon the first deer, pouncing on it's back. His weight was too great for the small animal and it collapsed without taking a step. Though his killings were cruel, they were quick. He opened the deer's neck with his now bloodied razor-sharp claws and it died instantly. It had been a long time, too long, since he had hunted in this form. He would make up for lost time.
It took only mere moments before the entire herd was slaughtered. Lyon had corned the last deer and he was swimming in the scent of fear that the poor creature was choking on. With a savage roar, he lept at the animal, taking it in the neck with his deadly fangs. With his powerful jaws locked on the deer, he shook his head, needlessly ripping the deer apart. As the blood flowed down his throat, his mind swirled. He had become lost in the hunt.
The Rage threatened to over take him. It was a welcome relief from the pain that stabbed him.
