((Author's Note: I, sometime back, found the notebook I used when my first character was dueling back-in-the day. If anyone who was here back then ahs records of duels with Bleys, please send them. Not that I expect any:).))
I recently found a hidden compartment in the room of the Inn in which I make my home. In this small, hidden hidey-hole I found an old, battered notebook. Apparently, in the same room that I inhabit now, here dwelt a rather unimportant duelist of modest accomplishments. His name was not familiar to me, but many of the names of the opponents in his notebook were. If anyone knows him and wishes to tell me of him, they are welcome to. If anyone
wishes to make any comments on the duels posted here, or on the opponents in those duels, these are also welcome. History is well served by such contributions.
So, here is the first entry in the book. The name of the opponent is the name of a good friend of mine, who I doubt anyone needs to comment on. I have already talked to her, and she remembers neither Bleys, nor the duel.
Bleys CMR vs. Jonalyn
R1: Bleys evidently got off to a slow start here, thrusting into a lateral parry. 0.5-0, Jonalyn
R2: He cut low after this, but was instead laid low by a thrust. 1.5-0, Jonalyn
R3: For some reason, Bleys chose to disengage AFTER a thrust. Keep in mind that this was the very first duel of his career. He was hit with a low cut. 2.5-0, Jonalyn
R4: Here is where the comeback begins, in very innocent fashion. Bleys parries lateraly, Jona high cuts. 2.5-0.5, Jonalyn
R5: A bookend. How clever for someone to utilize such a key combination in their first duel. Bleys parried low, and Jona cut into it. 2.5-1
R6: A boring round, both stop hit. 2.5-1
R7: A more exciting round, both thrust. The comeback seems to be halted for a round. 3.5-2, Jonalyn
R8: Here it resumes. Bleys cut low, and Jonalyn ducked. 3.5-3, Jonalyn
R9: Bleys parries laterally here, and was rewarded when Jonalyn thrust. 3.5-3.5
R10: Bleys now takes control and keeps it. First, a thrust under a high cut. 3.5-4.5, Bleys
R11: Bleys parries circularly, Jonalyn stop hits, no joy. 3.5-4.5, Bleys
R12: Here Bleys make an error. Wanting a win, he thrusts. Jonalyn parries circularly. 4-4.5, Bleys
R13: The last round. Jonalyn thrusts, Bleys stop hits. 4-5.5, Bleys wins.
This is merely the first entry in the notebook. I intend to post it in its entirety for posterity. All comments, background, and discussion is welcome. More, it is invited. Even demanded:).

This is the second installment in my series of historical posts based around the notebook of the largely unknown duelist, Bleys CMR. The first installment was with an opponent I know personally, and whose memory of the duelist and the duel was nonexistent. This second duel is with an opponent I do not know and have not heard of, so any comments or information anyone can give me is more than merely welcome, but strongly wished for.
Bleys CMR vs. Binzo
R1: Bleys was apparently fond of opening with thrusts. He does so here, and scores over his opponent's low cut. 1-0 r1, Bleys
R2: Here, Bleys apparently chose to remain on the offensive after such a move. His opponent, having cut low, was apparently hoping for a lateral parry. Binzo sidesteps, and Bleys catches him with a low cut. 2-0 r2, Bleys
R3: Here Bleys disengages. Maybe he was expecting a thrust, maybe he was merely trying to create an unpredictable situation for the next move. Either way, he was fortunate. His opponent Parried laterally rather than thrusting. 2-0 r3, Bleys
R4: Another scoreless round. Still, apparently, thinking thrust, Bleys sidesteps. Binzo, also thinking thrust, stop hits. 2-0 r4, Bleys
R5: Here, both are clearly thinking the same thing. Having defended against thrusts for two turns in a row, both now choose to thrust. 3-1 r5, Bleys
R6: Dual high cuts in this round. 3-1 r6, Bleys
R7: Dual low cuts here. 3-1 r7, Bleys
R8: A lateral parry. Here, technically, a "safe" move. Unfortunately, Binzo used a very risky move. A slash. 3-2 r8, Bleys
R9: A duck from Bleys. Very interesting. A stop hit from Binzo. 3-2 r9, Bleys
R10: Bleys slashes, apparently from out of the blue. Why? Maybe because of the stop hit the round before. Anyway, it pays off. Binzo goes for a 50/50 and parries laterally. 4-2 r10, Bleys
R11: Dual cuts, Bleys going high and Binzo going low. Bleys wins in 11, 5-3.
If anyone knows anything about Binzo, that would be suitable history for this particular train of thought. All comment, background, or discussion is hoped for.

This is my third notebook post, and the third duel to be reprinted.Once again the opponent is one who I did not know personally, and also one who I have not heard many tales about. One Quentor, by name. Any information that anyone would care to post here would be welcome for my records.
This is the first duel in the Notebook to go 15 rounds. It is also the first of several duels int he notebook in which both duelists ended with a score of 5.5 or greater. It appears to have been a grand match. Enjoy.
Bleys CMR vs. Quentor
R1: For the third consecutive duel, Bleys opens with a thrust. Quentor opens with a lateral parry. 0.5-0, Quentor
R2: Dual high cuts. Apparently Bleys was doing his very best. He must have badly wanted to win this one. 0.5-0, Quentor
R3: Dual circle parries. Once again, great minds think alike. Quentor's parry, however, was fancy. In the old days, that meant an automatic advantage. This duel is from the old days. 1-0, Quentor
R4: Bleys, apparently angry at the fancy, thrusts right into a stop hit.. 2-0, Quentor
R5: Bleys gets ont he board with a low cut. Quentor keeps a two point lead with a high cut. 3-1, Quentor
R6: A combo I myself confess to being fond of. After the low cut, Bleys slashes. After the low cut, Quentor parries laterally, and fancily. 3.5-2, Quentor
R7: Dual low cuts now. 3.5-2
R8: Dual stop hits. 3.5-2
R9: Bleys goes back to the thrust, and nails it home over Quentor's low cut. 3.5-3, Quentor
R10: Dual lateral parries. 3.5-3
R11: This time it is Quentor who nails the thrust home over his opponent's low cut. Some opponents would throw in the towel, Bleys gets rough. 4.5-3, Quentor
R12: Bleys slashes again, Quentor parries laterally again. Back then no one expected slash combos, I guess. 4.5-4, Quentor
R13: Dual thrusts. 5.5-5, Quentor
R14: Quentor, expecting a high cut after all the low cuts, parries laterally again. Bleys cuts low again. 5.5-6, Bleys
R15: Last round, and Quentor STILL wants the elusive high cut. So he ducks. Bleys apparently didn't like high cutting very much in this match, because now he thrusts. 5.5-7, Bleys
Apparently Quentor must have been someone dangerous, because Bleys wrote instead of the usual, simple "my win" a very delighted "I win!" with the addition of an exclamation point. Any posts about Quentor will be very welcome.

R4: Dual cuts, Bleys high and Mobson low. 3.5-1, Bleys
R5: Bleys parries laterally again, but Mobson has learned and sidesteps. 3.5-1.5

I remember dueling someone by the name of "Binzo" once... It was about four or five months ago I believe. He gave me a good fight, the duel ending in a close win for me... 6-5 I think.
As I recall, he was quite a character... A little like Goon in a way.
Of course, I wasn't around back when most of these duels probably took place, so I'm afraid I can't give much insight here.

I remember Binzo...he was one of those Permanent Commoners, or somethin like that. I don't know that he ever called himself that, but he was one of those guys who was a great dueler, but never rose in rank.
He was around back in my earlier days...my first tour of duty in the DoS, if you will.

BINZO.
Never made Warlord. Was one of the best duelers Swords has ever seen. I learned much from BINZO's style. BINZO was the first humbler of the rings. When he didn't care about the duel, which was the majority of the time, he was just being silly and having fun. When he thought someone needed to be taken down a peg, he would challenge you in the Arena and whoop up on you nicely in the best old school schooling fashion. BINZO was the orginal
Eternal Commoner and I was the Anti-Overlord because of my sparkling record for one cycle of having something like 60+ more losses than wins way back many years ago. When BINZO was gone, as he is often now I have tried to fill the role as humbler as well. Of course now mostly try for Barons and Overlords to humble. I became a Warlord simply because my Kensai, former Overlord Xenograg, urged me too make a name for myself in the duels. BINZO, is
probably one of the few duelists never to make Warlord or any challenge title that I would consider belongs in whatever type of DoS Hall of Fame their could be someday.

Here it is folks, the next notebook post. This duel is shorter than the others, 6 rounds. It is also the first duel I have reprinted that was a defeat for Bleys. It is the first such in the notebook. It is not the last. The opponent is one I have heard of, though never met personally, the former Overlord Vernick. As near as I can tell, at the time of this duel he was a Warlord. Whether he had already lost the title, or whether he had yet to win
it, I am not sure. He is obviously at the top of his skills in this battle. He quite simply takes Bleys apart.

R1: Bleys opens, again, with a thrust. Apparently this was his staple move int he first round for some time. Vernick opens with a sidestep. 0.5-0, Vernick
R2: Bleys cuts low for the point, and Vernick cuts high for the point. This is one of only two points scored by Bleys in this duel, both times his opponent scored as well. 1.5-1, Vernick
R3: Bleys parries circularly, his usual move following an opponent's high cut. Vernick slashes for the point. 2.5-1, Vernick

Yes ladies and gentlemen of the rings, it is that time AGAIN. Time for the next post from the Notebook. I am sure a lot of you are sighing deeply now, wondering why I keep taking up so much space on these boards. I have seen some positive feedback, however. I have received some side comments, and three people have posted to this topic. So I know that SOMEONE is enjoying this.
On that note, here is the next duel. Comments, background information, etc. are all welcome, as always.
This one is another defeat for Bleys. Not everyone can win them all, and some people have trouble winning any. Here Bleys's opponent is one Suzielle, whom I know nothing about.
Bleys CMR vs. Suzielle
R1: It all begins with a pair of cuts. Bleys, cutting high, scores. Suzielle, cutting low, scores as well. A dramatic beginning. 1-1
R2: Bleys thrusts, but is countered by Suzielle's cicular parry. 1-1.5, Suzielle
R3: The thrust trap was popular back then, and Bleys demonstrates it, stop hitting. Suzielle demonstrates why it was popular, thrusting right into it. 2-1.5, Bleys

Yes ladies and gentlemen of the rings, it is that time AGAIN. Time for the next post from the Notebook. I am sure a lot of you are sighing deeply now, wondering why I keep taking up so much space on these boards. I have seen some positive feedback, however. I have received some side comments, and three people have posted to this topic. So I know that SOMEONE is enjoying this.
On that note, here is the next duel. Comments, background information, etc. are all welcome, as always.
This one is another defeat for Bleys. Not everyone can win them all, and some people have trouble winning any. Here Bleys's opponent is one Suzielle, whom I know nothing about.
Bleys CMR vs. Suzielle
R1: It all begins with a pair of cuts. Bleys, cutting high, scores. Suzielle, cutting low, scores as well. A dramatic beginning. 1-1
R2: Bleys thrusts, but is countered by Suzielle's cicular parry. 1-1.5, Suzielle
R3: The thrust trap was popular back then, and Bleys demonstrates it, stop hitting. Suzielle demonstrates why it was popular, thrusting right into it. 2-1.5, Bleys

She tacks up a piece of paper with the following written:
Binzo I knew. Fun guy, but I didn't know him well.
Suzielle, now...I *knew* the Amazon babe. She, Amaltea and I made mischief many times in the arena. I miss her greatly, she was a wonderful person and a terrific friend. I could tell you stories about whipped cream...nah.
Seems to me she was also a friend of Celyn and Tyran DuChere (whatever happened to them? I think Celyn's around now...) and that whole crowd. (Klytus, MidnyteBlue, DareLTan, Goldensword, among others.)

And once again, folks and folksettes, we have another Notebook post. I figured since I was responding to Jola's comments anyway, that I might as well put up the next page. Once again, comments, background, etc, are always welcome.
Once again the duel is between Bleys and Vernick. Again, Bleys lost in 6 rounds, this time 5-1 instead of 5-2.
Bleys CMR vs. Vernick
R1: Bleys opens with something other than a thrust. Finally. Unfortunately, his low cut is blocked by Vernick's circle parry, quite fancily. 1-0, Vernick
R2: Bleys sidesteps here, thinking thrust or another parry. Instead he gets clocked by Vernick's high cut. 2-0
R3: Now Bleys himself thrusts, not having pulled one before. He gets a fancy sidestep in return. 3-0, Vernick
R4: Bleys, staying on the offensive, cuts high. Vernick slashes, and is himself wounded. 3-1, Vernick
R5: Bleys himself slashes, and is himself hit by a high cut. 4-1, Vernick
R6: Bleys now thrusts again, and is stopped by a fancy circular parry, ending it. 5-1, Vernick.

I am sure there still must be people here who remember Valmion. Evem I remember Valmion. And I must be half senile by now (or so all those of you who responded to my House Rising posts seem to think ..grin..).
This a good duel. A 5-3 decision in 11 rounds. What? Who wins it? Read the whole duel and find out.
Bleys CMR vs. Valmion
R1: Due, possibly, to past problems, Bleys opens it up with a thrust again. Works pretty good too. He nails it home under Valmion's high cut. 1-0, Bleys
R2: Now Bleys parries circularly, and knocks away a low cut. 1.5-0, Bleys
R3: Bleys cuts low, and the crowd gets sprayed with blood because Valmion cuts high. 2.5-1, Bleys
R4: Bleys slashes, only to get clocked by a low cut. 2.5-2, Bleys
R5: Clang!!!!!!!!!! Dual high cuts. 2.5-2, Bleys
R6: Circular parry by Bleys again deflects Valmion's low cut. 3-2, Bleys
R7: Valmion is pissed, and he thrust in hard. Bleys sidesteps out of the way. 3.5-2, Bleys
R8: Clang!!!!!! Dual high cuts again. 3.5-2, Bleys
R9: Bleys thrusts again, and gets knocked away by a fancy circular parry. 3.5-3, Bleys
R10: Bleys parries laterally, and manages to draw the thrust. 4-3, Bleys
R11: A 50/50 here. Bleys cuts high and the circular parry is too low to stop it. 5-3, Bleys wins

"Who in their right mind gives a rats arse about some old notebook only posted to serve some sick self-rightous pleasure? Argh... I swear..."
Resisting the urge to spit on the post itself, Camrion simply inclined his head to Casey and awaited her perky, and no doubt annoying, reply.
