::a letter recieved by the young Sir Olivier Nightsbrow from his companion.... both young men, having the indepence of wealth are known explorers and archeologists of the Inner Realms::

My dear Olivier,

Nestled in the borderless groves of mist and fir trees, hidden beneath the shadows of untouched boulders and the shade of forest, ancient magick, divine and raw, flows from the core of the soil to the reaches of the sky. This I have learned of in ancient tales of the Chautanian Valleys.. tales that have not been heard for centuries, of a land that has not been seen for millennia.
The research we have gained from the Keletor monasteries have been invaluable, but no other article we gleaned from the shelves of those hallowed halls is as breathtaking as the evidence of what lies in Chautania.
Chautania, as the Keletor scrolls describe, lies within the timbered valleys of the far north, beyond even the reach of Dracoern. You may find difficulty in believing my research, but Chautania was civilized over fifty milennia ago, and this land had faded from all memory a great many thousands of years before any recorded civilization would rise again in the Realms. Heed this, fair Olivier, the reign of Chautania occured in such antiquity that
global climes of the epoch were of drastic difference to the ones we experience, and land now bitten by snow and the chill of Northern winds I seek out was a fertile and temperate region, rich in the resources that a fledgling society neccesitates.
Our time at Keletor spared me little detail as to Chautanian technology. With metals abundant, this body of people were quick to learn the secrets of the forge and the power of steel. I shall be certain to gather what my stamina shall allow, and following expeditions into this great mystery of our heritage as a Realm shall focus upon the retrival of artifacts by which we may understand the nature of our collective yesteryears.. yet, I must correct
myself. Chautanian is the beginning of all years and as history may show us, this ancient enigma of a people may have been the first of our kind to have seen Sol rising to nourish our world.
This noble expedition takes us furtherback than years, I expect that we shall find the secret to our beginning in this, we shall learn the nature of the yesterdawn.

With warmest regards to you and Celia,
-Sir Daniel Amstershy Maplecrest
