::Reads the note, not quite certain of the nature of the question. Gaejin is a Warlord, not a Baron, and is not rquired to declare alignment. Baron Evan has already declared his alignment as *Neutral*. Shrugs and walks off back to the cottage.::

Sorry, I just meant I want Evan's ideas on the matter of a neutral baron being aligned renegade for his actions, and his idea on being "neutral", and an answer if it is acceptable to take sides if you're neutral.

The meaning of the word "neutral" is not favoring either side in a quarrel, contest, or war.

By Testing for the Overlord, or by defending the Challenger, doesn't a Neutral Baron cease to be Neutral?

According to the rules Neutral Baron's are allowed to champion a warlord in a ToW?

I'm confused as to why Evan is being punish for exercising his rights per the DoS rules. It is Dalamar's right, but what's the point of it being a RIGHT of a neutral baron if this is going to happen?

A clarification, if you will...

Being declared Renegade is not a punishment.

That depends on yer point of view, Sid, but perhaps ostracized be a better word, aye? Either way Evan is being made an example of for doing what he believed right at the time.

Gentles.

One must accept that one's actions shall reap consequences. It is both the right and the privilege of the Overlord to declare to his Baron's his thoughts concerning their loyalties. It is equally the right and privelege of the Barons to chose their path.

One who is truly neutral stands not as the one to shift the balance, but is indeed the balance, the pillar from whose limbs the pendulums of Loyal and Renegage find their balance. Should the Neutral stir the winds of controversy, the balance is likewise stirred. Should therefore not the Neutral be the calm within the eye of a storm?

"Being declared Renegade is not a punishment."

Renegade's have the tendency to loose their barony faster than loyals; not becuase of skill, but of the amount of challenges they recieve. People then feel its a punishment to be labled Renegade. Clear as that...

Collie, yes, according to the rules a Neutral Baron can take either side in a Test of Worthiness.

And that is exactly the point some of us have been trying to raise. What IS the point? Now, Dalamar might not do the same thing in every instance, who knows? However, in this case, I think he was wrong. All my arguments and reasonings are under Avery's line of posts.

Well, it hasn't always been that way. Baron's come and Baron's go, whether they be Loyal, Renegade or Neutral.

You may not have been here, but when Leto was Overlord, there were plenty of Renegades that kept their rings for a decent amount of time.

Actually, in this case, I think the punishment of being "banished" to Renegade was that Evan was not allowed to maintain the alignment he had chosen.

That is one view for neutrality. There are also some who believe that Neutral means you can take up arms when you wish to either against or for the overlord without getting pushed to a different alignment. I'm not taking sides, just merely stating this.
