To all those it may concern:
I am very pleased to annouce the formation of a new House amongst the many that have graced the Duel of Swords. We wish to set an example of how duelists should conduct themselves, speaking fairly and supporting our words with our blades. We wish to set a positive example amidst the bluster, recrimination, and political bickering that all so often permeates this Board and these rings. We wish to restore some of the old ways, and if possible
educate som of the newer duelists in the old cornerstones of courage, self assurance, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
We will oppose the Test of Worthiness without fail or partiality, regardless of the popularity or unpopularity of the challenger. We will champion challengers against the Overlord's Intercession, again impartially and without prejudice, because we respect the right of all to challenge. Finally, we will oppose any Overlord who does not respect our opinions and at least be willing to discuss them calmly and honorably without recourse to either
dogma or personal insult. Above all we will attempt to be walking examples of sportsmanship, making neither personal insults nor empty threats. We will respect all, whether they respect us or not.
The name of the House will be House Rising. Its colors a rising sun on midnight blue, its members thus:
The Leading Trimuvirate: Zen Rising, Evan Rush Rynth, and Duc Percival Marchand de Clermont
Members of the House: Darkness2, Lord Tom Evasion, Max Kanyon, and Kenman9696
Allies of the House, who support us in the pursuit of sportsmanship: Avery Shiv Blade and Hunter Mano
Those who wish to join may contact myself, Evan Rush Rynth, or Zen Rising. We will share our beliefs and goals with you, and if you believe them to be your own you may join, subject to approval of the Triumvirs. Rank is not so important as sportsmanship. However, those who wish to join must be willing to live the ideals of the House Rising.

Well, the idea of sportsmanship and honor is good they should be the foundation of the DoS. I must say, however, that starting a house supposedly with those values then declaring total opposition to the rightful actions of the Over Lord seems a tad silly to me. Perhaps the members of the hose do not realize that the declaring of champions, and the
championing of one's allies are time tested traditions? Not only in the DoS, but in duels from most all lands and cultures. A respectable house would be an honor to join, but assaulting (or cheering) an Over Lord for the use of useful, traditional, honorable, challenge rights, without regard to the situations involved removes the respectability of any house in my opinion.

I also believe, however, that you do not always consider your words when you post your opinions. You allow your emotions and loyalties, which are commendable, to cloud your judgement. I agree with Baron Var Medici-Giovanni that Baron Zen Rising seems to be contradicting himself, first declaring his loyalty to Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon, and then including himself in a group which is in favor of challengers' rights. Is there anyone that can better explain the idea of a loyal baron, to reconcile Zen's two views? I have a general idea of a way to interpret it, but I'm not totally sure.
In general, a house based on sportsmanship and respect is a good idea, but I am not ready to fully commit myself to all of the views held by the house.

While I am for the creation of new organizations such as Houses within the Duel of Swords which support sportsmanship, this particular House seems more like a terrorist group. "Finally, we will oppose any Overlord who does not respect our opinions and at least be willing to discuss them calmly and honorably without recourse to either dogma or personal insult." A list of demands with a hidden threat upon the government, perhaps?

Finding himself of the unique position of actually finding some agreement with Luptons words, Gnort definately feels armageddon is approaching. He decides to post one thought about it.
I'm curious if this opposition to the Test of Worthiness will be in effect until such time as it suits them. I, for one, know that if there is someone I do not feel is remotely worthy of holding a title, and there are a few, then I would do almost everything I could to keep them out of holding such title.
Only time will tell how this new House will handle situations.

Finding himself of the unique position of actually finding some agreement with Luptons words, Gnort definately feels armageddon is approaching. He decides to post one thought about it.
I'm curious if this opposition to the Test of Worthiness will be in effect until such time as it suits them. I, for one, know that if there is someone I do not feel is remotely worthy of holding a title, and there are a few, then I would do almost everything I could to keep them out of holding such title.
Only time will tell how this new House will handle situations.
