Well, as a few of you know, I have a problem with some of the people around the arena lately, and in an effort to do something...this is my first action. Thursday nights, 10-1...the "arrogant jerks" can call thier own duels. I am stepping down from the arena staff. It's been fun, but it's just not worth it to have to put up with some of these rude obnoxious people. Nuff said...

Tis sad watching fine duelers leave, yet the loss of a valued staff member due to lack of disrespect and common courtesy by others, is distressing and keenly felt throughout the dueling community.

I understand your plight, but wish you would reconsider. I've watched you call many a duel and found your presence and commentary a refreshing addition to the wonderful dueling staff. Your wear your honor as well as you did the uniform.

It with no small amount of sadness that I read your announcement. You are one of the people here whom I truly respect and admire, both as a duelist and as a caller. I am sorry that you feel this to be your only option, but I truly can understand your decision in the light of the behavior of some members of this sport. For those who might claim that this is not a sport but a community, I of course agree. However, the people who cause these
problems are people who obviously do not care whether they belong to the community or not, so I allow them to exclude themselves.
I will add my voice to that of Noelle in a request for you to reconsider your decision. However, as I said, I understand it. I will also understand if you feel that you cannot change it. After all, a person can only slam his head a against a brick wall for so long before something breaks.

What's truly sad is that a person's many faults are immediately cast aside from public regard when that person becomes a duel caller, as though overlooking obvious idiocy, arrogance, foolhardiness or impetuousness should be considered an obligatory gratuity in the case. Half of this boar-spawn crowd seems as though they'd embrace their father's killer, were that person in a position to officiate their fencing match.
Open your eyes and stop acting like such ingratiating oafs.

Perhaps it is sad that we ignore what Huma has done in the past, and continues to do in the future. I did not post anything originally when I read Huma's retirement notice, since I believed somewhat along the lines of thew views expressed in the previous post.
But I do not know of anyone that could say that they were officiated by their father's killer.
Or anyone in the arena that is boar-spawn.
Perhaps what's even more sad is that people come and anonymously post such insulting messages.
Obviously, the writer of the last last post has no idea what exactly it is like to be a caller of the Duel of Swords. I admit that I do not either, but I do know that calling even 3 practice duels at once is very taxing. The Official Callers do up to double that figure, then add to it everything else they are required to do, and for a full 3 hours.
For anyone that actually dueled regular in the arena to suggest that the arena's extremely grateful attitude towards its duel callers is not warranted, and to even go further and say that we are all "acting like such ingratiating oafs" in doing so, would, well, I don't think that words could describe what would happen.
Perhaps not signing it was a good idea.
