With a sleepy smile, Jaycy's eyes fluttered open. Sitting slowly as she stretched, she glanced around the tent. Rix had already gone outside, as had the kids. They had arrived at the site early, it luckily not being too far from the house. Setting up the tent was rather easy as well, the gypsy using her magick to perform the task. They had settled in, and even the girls went directly to sleep.
Her smile was cut abruptly short as she sneezed, then frowned. She hadn't been feeling well during work last night, and she still wasn't at her best. But she had promised the kids... fall was almost here, and it would be getting colder soon. They didn't have much more time to do this... work was getting busy very soon, and next weekend would be her only real vacation before that happened. Marit had offered to take her and the girls away for a
weekend retreat, and she had jumped at the chance. Of course she would be going... and she had gotten permission to ask Rix if he wanted to come along, but she hadn't quite gotten to do that yet. Marit had just offered last night.
Finally pulling herself free from the too-warm covers, she stood and moved outside, taking in a deep breath of fresh forest air. It was a beautiful day, and the campsite was overlooking the lake... the view itself was unbelievable. Looking out over the lake, this was one of the few times Jaycy had truly felt at peace in some weeks. The pressure of being watched was wearing on her... it wasn't helping her health, making her more susceptible to
colds and infection. But now... she was happy.
As her emerald gaze passed over the tranquil scene, she couldn't help but grin as she saw Skye try to splash Rix. The girls had taken to him well... which wasn't too surprising, but a pleasant blessing. Moving down the path, she mentally uh oh'd as Dawn spied her.. that look in her eyes that said "Pouncing time!!". Sure enough, the lil' girl took off toward her mother, and launched her soaking wet, muddy self into Jaycy's arms. Oomphing, Jaycy
scooped up the muddy child, carrying her down to the water's edge.
"G'mornin..." Skye giggled and responded "Hi lazy!" Wrinkling her nose, Jaycy looked over to Rix, who was just grinning. Setting down Dawn, she stripped quickly and dove into the chilly waters.
With a gasp as she surfaced, Jaycy smiled to herself. It was looking to be a very nice weekend indeed.
Calm before the storm... ( Jaycy )
