I was just struck by a thought..

Fellow Patrons,
As I read through the messages upon the Board, I came upon one that got me thinking. This post said, and I quote, "to the DoS community, do we really want another of House Rising on the Council?" That got me thinking of a time not too far back when Questrion was thought to be attempting to gain control of the Baron's Council. Now, correct me if I'm
mistaken, but the most Barons Questrion had upon the Council at once was three, while right now House Rising seems to have 4 people upon the Council (if Avery were to be counted), and, if Percival is successful against AJ, that would be 5 Barons contained within their house. They also have several other Warlords within their ranks, I believe, who would be able to challenge once they had enough Peer Wins.
Now, what I'm worried about is the fact that House Rising could conceivably have 7 rings within their group and have control of the Baronial Council, shockingly enough.
I'm sure others have noted that House Rising seems to have quite a few members upon the Council, but it took that one line in that message to stop me and make me think. Even though there are only 3 or 4 members of House Rising upon the Council at the moment, I'm worried what could happen within a few weeks. Personally speaking, I wouldn't want a council that was controlled by one House, since they'd control each and every decision to come forth
from the Barons and Baronesses, and these decisions would probably be what merely was in the best interest of the House...

I usually wouldn't say anything about alarmist conspiracy theories, but Sartan's post seems to me to be quite serious. I would even have to go so far as to call it libelous. Not only towards House Rising, but also towards a few individuals who would seem to be coated with tar by Sartan's brush. Here is the passage I will object to first, "Now, correct me if I'm
mistaken, but the most Barons Questrion had upon the Council at once was three, while right now House Rising seems to have 4 people upon the Council (if Avery were to be counted), and, if Percival is successful against AJ, that would be 5 Barons contained within their house."
First of all, Avery is NOT a Member of House Rising. He is a member of Atrebla and the GoT. He is a personal friend of mine, and has openly allied himself with House Rising, but that is it. His personal goals simply coincide with ours in one way. He opposes Dal's past policies. Now, if you really want to make this conspriacy good, maybe Ajay (who is a member of the same House and Guild as Avery) is conspiring with us to give us another seat on
the Council? No more far fetched than your theory. Here is another one, Sartan. You and I, by challenging Avery and Ajay at the same time, are part of a conspiracy against Atrebla and the GoT. From what I understand, from a source I trust but will not reveal, several members of the GoT believe this very strongly. There. I hope I have helped a little. Now you have three conspiracies to choose from. Everyone can take their pick.
By the way, each one is as ridiculous as the other. If anyone is so alarmist as to take them seriously, I hope they enjoy the nightmares they give themselves.

Perci,
I fail to see where Sartan goes out to an extreme here. From the begining of your House's creation you have been out for one thing only: Titles. You've jumped on any rank of title within these rings in hopes to strengthen the House, regardless of their personal views on the situation. I might bring up our newest Baron Magnus, recruited into your house *after* he obtained the title of Baron, perhaps he could tell us just what House
Rising motives are in these rings. You've even went to a desperate low as to try and recruit myself to an Anti-Ar'Daumon house. That in its own right is a direct insult to myself and loyalities to Dalamar.
But personal insult to myself isn't the drive behind this post. Your assumptions of Sartan's post are totally out of line as well as your theory on Baron Bird. I would go on a limb to even question the truth in your words should you claim House Rising isn't out for influence. And the fact that you threaten the Overlord with your promise to interceed when the test is used only re-enforces Sartan's assumption on your House.
In short, yes, I have a problem with your views. I have a problem with your flase claims and promises to your house. I have a problem with endless posts that you claim are rediculous, yet derived from a serious point. I oppose you, and everyone claiming loyalities to your house. Including those houses that would allow their members to ally with such an extreme House. Should you find a problem with my views, or my assumptions, you may
find me in the rings... not on these boards.

tRoland,
I don't know what you have against me, but if you would like to here my piece, so read this post.
I was already considering being in the House Rising before the warlord tournament. My brother Cletus Ganderfald had told me he joined. He told me of their policies and other important things, so I considered joining. When I won the 13th Ring, I decided I would join the House, seeing how I agreed with many of their own reasons. If you think I was conned or something into joining this house, no one knew I was thinking of joining. Only Cletus knew,
and he told no one.
Oh and by the way...Cletus is no warlord or high rank. He is a commoner, so not all in this house are high ranks.

First, this is completely untrue. We are out for one thing and one thing only: sportsmanship. The cessation of these constant attacks via boards that should be made in the rings as is proper. The return of respect and good manners to the challenges. An end to a lot of the ridiculous and spiteful lack of common decency that so many here seem to possess for one another. The members of the House all share these views. As for having "jumped on"
anyone, I would strongly deny that.
"You've even went to a desperate low as to try and recruit myself to an Anti-Ar'Daumon house. That in its own right is a direct insult to myself and loyalities to Dalamar."
If I remember the occasion you are referring to, it can hardly be referred to as desperate or insulting. You, Avery, and I had been joking around, no? Avery and I, jokingly, invited you to "join the revolution" or some such nonsense. I have never deliberately or knowingly insulted you, nor would I.
I, however, AM insulted. Three times last week you had ample oppurtunity to say whatever you wanted to say to my face. Each time you joked around, as I did, acted in a generally friendly matter, and seemingly had a good time all around. Instead, when I make a joke in response to a very alarmist post that cannot possibly be taken seriously, you take my joke seriously and, to use your words, "jump on" me.
Tell me, which is truly the way you feel? The friendly joking in the Arena and Annex, or the sudden attack here? Whichever it is, I would appreciate it if you told me in person. If you want to distrust, dislike, or even hate me, that is your concern. But be be honest about it to my face, please. I don't hate or dislike you, much the reverse in fact. I also have a good deal of respect for you.
I will be in the Arena for the dueling tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. If you wish to say anything to my face, whether another attack or an apology, please do so. If you wish to fight with me over your opinion of me, I will be glad to step in the ring with you.
In the future, if you want to insult me or accuse me, do it to my face and I will be glad to take it into a ring. When next I see you I will expect either an apology or a challenge. Not in the sense of the sport, but in the ancient sense of the word. If you have a problem with me, challenge me to a duel of honor.

::Thinks back to the 5 challenges aimed at him to realign the fourth to Dalamar and get the baron's title from Questrion::
Well, first off lemme say this, Brother Birdy...do as you have some 10 times prior. Now for the matter of how many barons are in House Rising...who cares? Around here it's either your for Dal, or against him. It's that simple, *if* house rising wants to dethrone him...more power to him. If you don't like it, do something about it. Procastinating about it gets nothing done. Now, having been one of three barons belonging to a house many sought to
keep from getting anywhere in the council, I think that those of you should sit back and relax. From experience, I know what the people of Questrion had in mind...unfortunatley, the rest of RhyDin went into a panic and started making rumors about what they knew nothing of. Ask yourselves this..."Is House Rising having four barons going to affect *you* negatively?" Note..that's a generic you, it is aimed at any who want to blow this situation all out
of proportion. For the record, I am *not* a member of Rising. I am not showing support. I just want to give the community the idea that *maybe* we shouldn't come to a conclusion that four barons belonging to one faction is a bad thing. In some cases it might be, and to the best of my knowledge, Rising isn't full of child molesting rapists...so, far as I am concerend, unless they start trouble with me..let 'em do as they will and not bother them. I
think Percy shoulda challenged somebody other than my friend AJ, but, well, that happens.

I will say this since my name has been brought up in these posts...
1) I AM NOT A MEMBER OF HOUSE RISING. I never have been. I am in the GoT, and Atrebla, as was noted. I only offer advice, and support to HR because they do have one goal that is mine. We all know that goal is to get rid of Dal.....
......and before the rumors start flying on that last statement.... No i dont hate Dal. I like the man. I respect the man. I honor the Man. But my VIEWS differ from the man. So in following everyones simple advice i will offer challenge to him soon, to change those veiws.
2) I am not in any conspiracy.... although the ones Percy brought up were kinda funny. I have made my motives known to all for a long time. I will challenge Dal at the first opprotunity i get. Which happens to be next week... assuming he defeats the Borg thing this sunday.
3) I AM NOT A MEMBER OF HOUSE RISING. It is funny to me that even yesterday people thought i was. Yet i a sorry to disapoint you all but, i am associated with another House... and that is where i belong.

Pretty bold on the boards, eh Roland?
I don't know how much Sartan knows about House Rising's going-ons, but I really did think that you knew better of our motives, views, and means of reaching our goals than to say some of the things that you said. I thought this only because of the generally friendly manner in which you conversed with several 'key' players in the scheme of things. Percy and Avery come to mind right away, but I suppose that was all just a rouge. I'm truely sorry, but
slinging rather unsavory words about regarding my House, my friends...my opinion of you has been greatly lowered. I do not know if this means anything to you, seeing as we have never had occasion to speak, but I find it hard to hold someone in high esteem, when they hold my beliefs, values, and friends in such low esteem.

Official Press Release
House Atrebla
From the Offices of the Beacon of Truth
In no way has Atrebla presently dictated an official policy on the current Overlord. We have seated Barons Loyal, Neutral and Renegade to the current Overlord, and as present see challenges defended and made by our members.
We support our members in their personal quests as long as it does not contravene our code of ethics as Guardians of Truth. Should anyone be interested in the document please enquire at the Beacons offices. I would like to make note that during Questrions purported actions of conspiracy against the overlord we were on favorable ground with them, during Lathadoscias we were not in any affiliation or agreement. During the current allegations against
House Rising we have not opened formal talks of any sort as of yet. In all cases we have held 2 - 3 Barons on the council at the same time.
Should the community, or individuals, attack us for not forcing our members to certain views I simply offer these thoughts...
"Atrebla strives to teach correct principles and let their members govern themselves accordingly" ((authors note. modified from original text source unknown at this time))
"...Other mens failures can never save you, stand by your conscience, your honor..."

((excerpt from Atrebla anthem..orginal words anonomous))

Gentleman,
The possible evidence of a House attempting to dominate the Council is not the absolute truth of such a thing. And while your observations Sartan....could be seen as quite justified....the fact that the yourself, and Roland are the ones waving the flag of conspiracy against the throne proves very little in my mind except the fact that someone somewhere has finally decided that House Rising is becoming chafesome...and the war of
propaganda has begun. Within a the next few weeks, I am sure there will be many other attempts to instigate a negative image of House Rising, with many prominant duelists, current loyalists and voices from the past that will rise up and rally the peasantry and the nobility against them. And thusly...the war is won months before in some room where a plan was hatched.
I am not affilated with House Rising, nor am I particulary adverse to the loyalist camp. Sartan is a man I would consider a friend at times. Roland, while I am sure is not my friend, is someone I occasionally find reason to respect for his actions. But I cannot merely sit on my hands and watch something so blatant go unnoticed.
Mayhaps House Rising will gain several rings within the Council. I do not see this as a problem as long as they keep their political motivations in the best interest of the people. In fact....if I remember correctly. House Oakenshield just recently held 4 or maybe 5 rings(The 5th being Seamus and his close ties with several members of that house) I do not believe that Oak tried to dominate the Council, and that was in a 9 ring Council. So
I let it stand that even a factual holding of most of the rings of the Council does not de facto mean a true *dominance* of said Council.
There were few cries of alarm when the Council was dominated by loyals, with only Huma to stand as Balance and Antithesis. In fact...the same tactics were used against him to solidfy the entire Council. The lap dogs of the Crown lining up one by one to try and remove Huma, until finally....one of them got lucky. And even now....I am sure that the loyalist camp mobilizes its Warlords to attempt to divest House Rising of the titles it holds.
I had wanted to stay out of this, I had wanted to mayhaps mend fences here where my prior descent into darkness had broken many bonds. But I cannot stand by and watch this without feeling I would dishonor this great place without attempting to bring defense to the men who fight the good fight, against what has over time, become a strong boot of oppression that would grind underfoot all that stood against it.
Is that our way? Over a year ago Athlstan dominated the Council, all challengers faced the Test of Worthiness, the Warlords were enraged, and ground under the boot of a tyrant many of them rose up to strike against the Council and the Overlord.....all to have installed yet another one. Yet another that would hold those that he wishes in title and deny it to those that might also be worthy. Is this the way of the Duel of Swords?
Other than popular opinion...how could it be no worse for the Overlord to hold the majority within a Council? Isn't that essentially the same as a House holding a majority of Rings? Especially when the balance of Barons have been Loyal to Dalamar not only in title but in the years before? Does that somehow make you believe they would ignore their own interests and hold the interests of the community above their own?
I ask you, nobles, commons and gentles all....to open your eyes. We have not here a plot against the Crown, nor a conspiracy to control the Council, but a plot to control the hearts and minds of a community that once would not accept such a yoke of slavery.....I see it, as plain as a fire in the fog of a forest.
I didn't want this, I wanted to come home, back to my life and my family. I wanted peace, but it all means nothing if I stand by and watch the malignment of honorable men that do nothing but fight for balance and change.
With this I raise the banner of a past long gone. Will those that remember its meaning heed to its call.
Lord Dalamar, friend of my past, I am sorry...but seems...once again, we stand on opposite sides of the battle field.

Ssartan, Percival and Roland,
I would address each of you in this missive, but I do so one at a time for ease of reading.
~ Sartan: Your thoughts are not unfounded, but I believe now that Avery has made his stance clear, you can see how far away House Rising is from gaining control of the council. With three current Barons, they would need an additional four. More than double the current number.
Also note that, unlike Questrion and Dracoern, this House has not stated an intent to do so. I grant you that perhaps this simply means they are going about it in a more intelligent manner and not allowing the rumors to slip out, but it may well also mean that the intent is simply not there. I have trouble believing that a House who's very purpose is to fight against the politics of the sport, would manipulate those very politics in this regard.
Both of those things considered, with a heavier weight on the former, I believe you may sleep easy for now, without raising the banner against these men.
~ Percival: While understandable, your jest in this matter is ill placed. The threat of one House taking over the council and manipulating the DoS as a whole is a very real one. You were not present at either time, but twice DoS has looked such a threat square in the eyes and searched for ways to stop it. The point being that this is considered a very serious matter to some and to address it with an offhanded jest may be seen as demeaning.
Remember to have care to the past before addressing the issues of the present.
~Roland: I count you among my friends here, so I ask that you not take too much insult at my words, but in short I believe you are being childish. It is counter productive to take insult to poorly chosen generalities and then paint your own in return. While you take insult at Percival's words, should I then take insult to yours? Recall that I, in some regards, was aligned with House Rising as well. I believe I know better than to take affront
at this, however and in turn, you should know better than to take affront to Percival's reactions.
Thank you gentlemen for your time,
~Kalamere...
