Handing Over the Reins

To all,

As I am sure many of you are aware of by now, there is a new Standings Keeper for the Duel of Swords. After accepting my new position in the sport, it was time for me to hand over those duties to another. Bridgette DiGregorio is the brave soul that has volunteered to perform the task. I would first like to thank her for accepting the position and wish her the best of luck.
As my predecessor, Devon Goral, once said, maintaining the standings is an extraordinarily difficult job. He compared it to skiing down a steep slope with only one ski, backwards, blindfolded, while juggling objects and singing an anthem backwards. Or something similar to that. No words have rung more true in my mind than those. Maintaining and updating over eight hundred records week after week can be a mind-numbing task. Devon kept up
with the standings for over a year and a half, a mark that I just reached a few days ago. He was instrumental in teaching me his techniques and tips, and I can only hope that I will be as good an instructor as he was.
Bridgette has been in training for some time now, so the transition should be smooth. I have the utmost confidence in her abilities, and I can think of no one more suited for handling the abundant task. Please be patient with her, as you were with me so long ago.
I would like to thank all of the callers that I have had the honor of working with for the past 18 months. They truly aided in making my job easier with their performance. I would also like to thank all of the patrons for being respectful and understanding of errors. My thanks also go out to Lady Helix Girvin, whose patience with me was without measure during that time period.
Although updating the standings was an arduous task, it was one I also enjoyed. Perhaps my dementia grows with that statement, but it is a true one. Holding that office was a learning experience as well as being a pleasure. I will miss it, but I know that my new duties will fill my time.
Once again, congratulations to Bridgette on her new job, and my deepest thanks for the good times. May they continue on for her and myself indefinitely.

...Och, and a brave lassie she is too! Guid luck a chara. Patience is a virtue ye might find lacking here on occasion. As in all sports, the blood can run hot, giving rise ta impulsive words, not always meant. I'm sure ye have the nature ta deal with such, and I wish ye the very best on this new and exciting endeavor.

Umm...did I miss something? I always assumed Goldendust was male...everyone refers to Golden as "lass". Just curious.

In reading these words,"Umm...did I miss something? I always assumed Goldendust was male...everyone refers to Golden as "lass". Just curious." she writes:

Folks are congratulating Bridgette on her new job.. not Golden.
