Do not be blinded by its majestic beauty, traveler. Rone is ugly, horribly ugly. Like all truly awful things, its mask of beauty is its most terrifying trait.

Wandering Historian of the Multiverse, Mino,
in the prelude to his Rone chronicles.

"All is well if all is thought to be well by well thoughts contained within a well mind of a well being housed in a well body joined to a well House by well alliances," frighteningly furry brows lifted with each "well," their long strands invading a smooth forehead. Jerky motions flipped through pages and pages, small eyes staring down a thin nose to read each twisted symbol at a lightning rate. Pitor's other hand scribbled
frantically at a constantly scrolling wheel as he mumbled to the walls. "Well alliances are in a well society within a well city within a well country within a well continent within a well hemisphere within a well world. Our world is not well," his eyes shot up to peer outside a warped window, the wind ripping along trees, "Nothing is well."

Tap, tap. An ebony fingernail pulsed lightly against a hard table. Tap, tap. Where is that report? Tap, tap. Master Lorokk rose from the plush velvet chair, his dark robes hanging about him. He turned his imposing gaze toward the door expectantly, and short Pitor clammered through, his heavy, dusky robes nearly tripping him in his hurry. "You are tardy, Pitor."

"My most... humble apologies, Master Lorokk," his eyes diverted as he stuttered forth, stepping forward to offer his Lord the paper he'd just finished scribing upon. "There are problems, Master."

Lorokk's elegant digits took the analysis in hand, gaze darting over the figures and notes. "Such as?"

"The elements, according to this, will be able to spread beyond their regions soon. Water and Air are already merging nations. You must speak with the Elementals. If they leave their regions, human life on Rone--"

Pitor was silenced with a gesture, then prompted again to speak, "What of the Arcane region? Are their borders still secure?"

"Strangely, they are the most well. I suggest--"

Another silencing gesture. "We need war, Pitor."

"War, Master?"

"War, Pitor."

Flying birds of liquid creation soared through dark skies, shards of ice darting from their deft motions to rain Hell upon the fiery landscape and lava-built beings below. The sharp ice and swiftly fired beams of water sent the crimson glowing people to a swift demise. Chaos grasped the land in an icy hold as freezing gusts of wind attacked from an opposite flank. A peaceful city of fiery build was destroyed, its people
dead, maimed, or fleeing.

The Master of House Tolur reclined in his luxurious chair. Pitor was due to stumble in any moment with his calculations and assessment of their little strike. Useful and loyal you are, Pitor, and far too imbedded here to ever leave. The analyst pushed through the door with all the grace of a half-winged bird, his precious statistics in hand. "One medium-sized city of average military import is in ruins, Master."

"Perfection in action. What was the response?"

"Fire's troops are marching upon Water as we speak."

"Were we linked at all?"

"No, of course not, Master Lorokk. It was precisely done."

A small grin finally dabbled along Lorokk's thin lips, and he straightened in his chair, "Have Suna send all the Elementals our usual statement of neutrality and our continued desire to have harmony between the elements and the creatures of flesh. Send an attack toward Earth with our Air warriors on the morrow. Everyone must remain busy around an idle Arcane. Has Arcane attempted to spread as the other elements yet?"

"No, nothing at all, Master. The Arcane fear you than any of the other element-societies, I suspect. They seem content where they are. Their borders only strengthen and close them in tighter."

Lorokk's fingers perched thoughtfully beneath his chin as his mind worked, his head nodding, "They'll stay in place. They have no desire to get involved in a war they cannot fight. Watch for their barriers to increase following the next strike."

"Who will win this war, Master?"

"We will, Pitor. We will."
