"And so the lady frightened, of a thing that might be love, turned
from him and bade him leave; she saying she had grown tired of his
company. And he, one that had not yet tasted the bitterness of winter,
looked upon her retreating form and found no purchase in experience.
Leaving him only to rely on the words that she spoke as truth, he bowed
and bid her good leave and life.
But for one moment, he did give pause. In that time he gave himself
he lingered upon the glimpse of something within the depths of her eyes
before she did close them off forever to his searching soul. What could
it have been, he wondered. But he was not so bold, so brazen, so
assured of himself that he could force the query from his lips. And so
betrayed by his own insecurity, he left. "
Katya solemnly folded the book back together, her fingers trailing along
the well worn bindings that held the pages together, even through she
abused the text with the frequency of opening. It was a tale of love and
loss, the trails of youth and experience, it was turning into a history of
her life and it echoed deeply within her.
She was young in respect to the length she was expected to live.
Impetuous with a heart that burned with chaos, loyalty and the need for
knowledge; all of which forced her to leave the confines of her home to
"work" through this stage of her existance. None there would have
told her aloud to leave, but none protested her undertaking.
She tucked the book back into it's pouch at her side; she travelled lightly
but the text was not an option; it contained the most intregal folklore of her
people and it kept fresh in her mind what it was she sought so long and
hard for, the truth.
((Author's note: This is the first of a few posts that will tell a bit about
Katya, please don't randomly post in the thread, thanks! Hope you enjoy. ))
