Despite the cough that was getting decidedly worse, Simini insisted that Lupton take her all the way home. She knew she was getting sick, and wanted to be in her own bed. By the time they reached the cottage, she'd developed a slight fever, and Lup insisted on staying with her. He stabled Inanna, prepared some chamomile tea (with a few helpfully croaked-out directions from Sim), and took care of
everything.
In the morning, the fever was a bit worse. Lupton won the argument, and the physician from the nearby village was summoned.
As expected, he diagnosed a respiratory infection, and instructed the woman to stay indoors for several days, with limited activity for two weeks. Simini wrinkled her nose at the news, but Lupton's face was stern.
She felt duty-bound to explain her absence, however, and penned a few letters while lying bed.
To the Council Members, Overlord, Staff and Patrons,
Much to my annoyance, I am suffering from a bout of infection in my lungs, which is going to seriously hamper my attempts at regaining a respectable record, begun successfully tonight. The physician has instructed me to restrict physical activity for at least two weeks. Please consider this letter notification that my physical presence will be unavailable until approximately the 10th of September; I do not know if my post will be read or not.
Also, I wish to declare my position as Renegade to the new Overlord. The reasons are the same as always.
My apologies for my absence. Be assured that I will return as soon as possible.
With Regard,
~ Simini
(( Note: I will be visiting family for the next few weeks, and may or may not be online. ))
