To all who care,
I've been reading the posts over the past few days, and I seem to find that many of you do not think I will hold to my ideals of standing against the test and champions. So, I will state that I will not step in for any Loyal Baron, and I will not ask anyone to fight my battles for me whenever I am challenged. Reasons? Most probably know them, but for those who do not...I do not wish to fight anyone's duels for them, and I do not wish to have
anyone fight my own.

Evan,
I am insulted at the fact that one implies someone is loyal for the fact of one challenge per month. I don't use my friends.
As a loyal baron, I have always had an opportunity to have an overlord step in for me when I was challenged. I did not become loyal for that aspect. I have always asked them not to stand in for me.
As for me interceding, I will be honest when I do not appreciate having an intercession or a test during the first challenge. Maybe it's just me, but I find it disrespectful to the title when one doesn't even desire to honor the first challenge with a battle themself.
But I am loyal for a more personal reason; the overlord earning my trust is all it's boiled down to. If you wish to accuse me, or anyone else hiding behind the loyal rank just for the sake of one challenge per month, then look at how often we've been challenged in the first place. I've been a baron for two months, and not one challenge has been issued against me.
If two people did want to challenge me, I am just wondering... Is it possible for a loyal baron to defend the ring more than once per month? It says in the rules that a loyalist "Need only defend their ring once per calendar month" but does that mean they have to?
But that's enough from me. In light of the long winded reply, I simply cannot sit here quietly while people make off base remarks as to my motives for loyalty.

Ironically, I find myself defending a person I do not like. What has Magnus done to deserve this assault? I disagree with his convictions, but he has always stood by them. That is something to admire, far more admirable than bestowing accolades upon imbeciles who just so happen to have been around for ages.
side note: There are some people here who have been around for less than five years that deserve respect.

Jona,
All the Overlord title means is to defend Loyal Barons? That seems to be what this statement means, but I know you do not think that. Just because I do not duel for them does not mean I would not "stand" for them. If they are challenged, I would most likely root for them. If someone bad mouths them, perhaps I would defend them. Just because I would rather them fight their own fights does not mean I do not care for them.
Morgan,
As to the best of three, I will most likely not be using that. Many say that anyone can beat any other one on any day, and this could be true. But, I think that during challenges it is different. I know when I am dueling in a challenge, whether being challenged or challenging, I duel better than I would during the regular dueling hours. Maybe the excitement brings out something in me, and maybe in others as well. So one match is not always
luck.

There are some people here who have been around for less than five years that deserve respect.
That is irrevelant to the issue. No assumptions necessary.
When one doesn't guard his loyal subjects or when one doesn't allow them to guard oneself, what is the point of being loyal? That's where I stand with E on that one. One duel, no intercessions/Tests, no Best of Three, and one duel takes all. The part that sticks out in bold is, All Barons Renegade. Renegade doesn't mean they have to challenge, just means he wants to prove himself without a guard dog to protect him. I'm full well with Tests and
Intercessions, but only on certain issues.
Just what I'm thinking.
Oh, and I'm also full well with The Best of Three.

Overlord Magnus Eques,
Certes th' title 'o Overlord isnae simply meant t' defend 'is loyals, yet certes tis one 'o 'is duties. Perhaps thee nae feel thee needs mus' accept such a duty or responsibilty ast one 'o th' burdens 'o th' mantle? Thee hae declared thee willnae defend yuir loyals by dint 'o blade. Thee hae declared thee seemin'ly prefer t' stand alone an' desire th' yuir barons do likewise. Indeed, sir, wh' be th' point 'o an Overlord wh' willnae stand an'
defend those wh' hae offered their loyalty an' blades unta thee. If'n thee aire nae inclined t' offer th' same loyalty an' yuir blade unta them hast thee then chosen t' be a neutral Overlord? Tis an interestin' premise, Magnus, an' Overlord wh' isnae willin' t' lift blade save fer 'imself alone.
Tis further interestin' wh' thee hae writ unta Morgana. Ah do trus' thee dinna mean t' say thee only put forth th' supreme effort when a title be at stake an' exert yuirself nae o'ermuch when tis nae a title t' be garnered.
Curiously,

Duty? I would say it is one of his options. Personally, I don't think anyone who isn't of the mind to defend his title himself has no business challenging for a title in the first place. After all, the whole point of acquiring a title should be defending it.

Jona,
First off, I never did state that the Loyal barons under me must stand alone. I did say I will let them duel alone, and duel their own duels. If they go Loyal under me, they obviously accept this fact and there is no problem.
And as for saying that I do not duel with all I got, except for during challenges, it may have sounded that way, but it is not what I meant, and you probably knew that already. What I meant was that with the excitement of a challenge, it could bring out the very best in me. Ill use an example.
Let us say there was a man named X. I dueled him a couple times, and we pretty much match in skill. Then say X kidnapped someone and planned to kill him or her, and this person meant a lot to me. Then we fight a death duel (this is just an example, I would not resort to such). The emotion in the match could bring out the best in us both, and the realization that someone will die will make me fight harder.
I know this is not the best example, but I am just trying to give you an idea of what I am saying, since you did not gather it the first time.

Sitting Duck Code of Conduct (continued):
3) When your loyal subjects complain about your lack of support when enemies were battering down their fortress walls; tell them that you really only meant to offer moral support from afar like all the other fair-weather leaders do.
When they complain, "but the enemy is fighting me because I claimed loyalty to you; what do I pay taxes for, if not in exchange for your support?" shake your fist at them and say, "bah! Babies! Fight your own battles and leave me out of it! Hey, do you mind sending that gold over here before your walls are battered down?" You never know, they just might do it.
4) If you have any loyal subjects still hanging around after a few incidents like above, rejoice, for they are stupid and pliable. Only an idiot would claim loyalty to someone who does not offer true support and protection. Pay the advisors no mind when they complain about the only people left are drooling idiots who stand around and nod cluelessly whenever you speak. These drooling halfwits make you look better. And smarter.
You do not need anything but your own gray matter between the ears anyway because of the S.D.C.o.C rule 1 you learned yesterday.
Since they loyal subjects that are left are so stupid, they will likely loose their holdings very soon and be replaced by someone else; hopefully that kindly enemy chap you keep hearing about. He is quite successful. Perhaps he could give you tips when you finally meet.

Very nice to see that some things don't change Morgan. You still have absolutely no idea of the meaning of sportsmanship and you still don't see the difference between war and sport. Ideas like the ones you are listing are one of the big reasons that so many people have the 'do whatever it takes to grab a title and then do whatever it takes to hold onto it' mentality that is so degrading to both the sport and the
community.
By your arguments, Huma, Deluthan, Aspen, and Methous are all completely justified in everything they did that they have been attacked for. Your attempt to belittle Magnus serves only to justify the actions of others who used your rationale. Aspen, Deluthan, and Huma were all just doing what needed to be done to win.
Sorry, I don't buy that.

Percival,
Your petulant ranting reply is irrelevant and serves to prove what poor memory retention you have.
Flip through the posts in this section and come back when you are better informed and have a refreshed memory. Naughty schoolboys who come to class ill-prepared do not learn their lessons effectively. Perhaps we could pretend you are in King Magnus' story and draw extra drool on your chin as punishment.
If we are fortunate, our esteemed Overlord will impart some more jewels of (non)wisdom so we can add to the Sitting Duck Code of Conduct.
