Challenge (Lupton)

There was a time, before most of the current patrons began their career, that an organization known as House Llewys-Lathadoscia blossomed into creation, founded by Elijah, then Elijah Llewys, and Baphelocutis est Lathadoscia. I was a member of this House from its creation, and a defender of its integrity.

At one point, for reasons unknown, Elijah left. A few months later, fearing the safety of certain people, I moved to destroy the House.

During my time of loyalty, I defended Elijah, even using my blade to terminate a Test of Worthiness for his challenge for Overlord to Dalamar.

Since the end of the House, Elijah has dealt nothing but insults towards everyone, especially including myself. He no longer even attempts to be a decent creature.

Recently, he has declared his intent to destroy the Council. With this added upon an already festering pool of ugliness, I opt now to challenge him, and simultaneously negate and correct my earlier defense of him, as well as cease his attempts of destruction.

I have no more leniency or tolerance for this man, or any of his purposefully harmful goals.

Listed below is the evidence of my right to take power from this man gone mad.

Unagi, 7-3.
Deluthan Ev'rt, 7-3.
Skyler Jackson Chamberland, 7-3.
Aspen Jerista, 8-6
Zen Rising, 8-7
Roland Sal Roa, 8-8
Daelin Dragonsblade, 8-14
Cletus Ganderfald, 8-14
Seamus MacDonnaugh, 8-19
Sartan, 8-19
Lord Normglade, 8-27
Cassius Maximius, 8-27
Drakewyn Silvertree, 8-28
Verceterix Gavin Favre, 9-2.
Var Medici-Giovanni, 9-9.
Percival Marchand de Clermont, 9-9.

And so, my challenge is present. I leave the date, time, and setting to the Baron's discretion.

Warlord Lupton,

I have set the date for us to resolve this challenge for the day of Wednesday on October 6th of this year at the hour of 3:00 PM in the afternoon by the eastern clock's reckoning. Your choices of RDIs who are available for that time to call this match that I agree with are, Scad, Poison, Marit, and Glo. I shall have no Second as none would admit to calling me comrade in these halls anymore, and sadly, as I have no intimate lady friend I shall
have no Lady of Honor either. My colors are my personal coat of arms of the dark blade pointing down entwined by the white rose and the red serpent on a green field. I shall wield as ever the shard of the LyfeStone of Mount Bane, the dark blade, Draco.

As Guardian of the Seventh till Draco fails me,

Warlord Lupton,

Since you are being too difficult and trying to go against the normal traditions of the sport in allowing the challenged to set the date, and the challenger to set the RDI, I give you either of the three options to fill.

A. Meet me at my original date and time of Wednesday, October 6th, at 3:00 PM Eastern with your choice of caller.

B. Meet me at the date and time of Wednesday, October 13th, at 8:00 PM Eastern with RDI Stormi as the caller.

C. Withdraw your challenge.

Since your being too stubborn and inflexible against my own schedule, even though you are the one pressing challenge, but don't want Stormi to call any of your challenge matches, then you must make the compromise. Either go with tradition and meet my time, or sacrifice your caller preferences, the ball is in your court now. Remember you were the one who left in their orginal challenge letter that you leave the date, time, and setting, to the
Baron, which is me.

Idly, I note that I seem to recall being told by the officials once, when I accepted a challenge, that challenges were expected to be contested during 'reasonable' hours. Upon asking what hours were 'reasonable,' I was told, 'during the evening.'

Take that as you will, Baron. I pass no judgment, other than to note that you yourself seem to be attempting to be difficult. Indeed, I recognize your right to set the particulars save the caller... yet, an early afternoon match seems to stretch the bounds of reasonable accomodation.

Ian Rex.

It's really sad Elijah is tryin' ta fight his grudge match *outside* da rings.

I find it disgraceful he is unable ta work out a reasonable date and time with Lupton. Personally, as Baron, I always chose da caller despite what tradition may be. But I also *always* discussed da date and time with my challenger because ta try and gain forfeiture or withdrawl by placing unreasonable dates and times on da challenger is just sickening.

Seems Draco won't fail Elijah if he doesn't have ta climb inta da rings with Lupton, so its a more sound strategy ta suggest 3:00 pm in da afternoon. I guess some of us (Elijah) don't have work on Wednesday afternoons, must be nice.

Be reasonable with Lupton, Elijah, fight yer grudge match IN da ring where it belongs.

Jeffery,

I look forward to beating the snot out of Lupton with Draco and am looking forward to the pleasure of ripping his entrails out all over the ring's sawdust. If anything I have always been one to live and die by the blade, and preach nothing but settling issues in the rings. I don't want this match to be forfieted or withdrawn, because I would like the pleasure of humilating Lupton in front of the whole Swords Community in the ring.

However, just because I have Wednesday afternoon off, and Tuesday and Thursday, doesn't mean I have the rest of the days off, especially when I work when most others have the weekend off. I have never seen anything in any of the laws that govern this sport that a challenge match has to happen during certain periods. RhyDin is made up of all walks of life who have different lifestyles, yet should they be penalized for that? I have given the
challenger three choices, my orginal time, a more suitable time for him with my preference of caller, or he can withdraw.

I don't know why I, the one who went 7-2 and won second place in the tourney to claim this ring as a prize should bend over and take in the rear with no lubrication to jump through hoops for a challenger who is making a challenge out of malice anyway towards me. I don't know why I should be the one to have to make sacrifices against my lifestyle and my schedule to accomadate a Warlord who was knocked out of the same tourney in the early rounds who
claims his life is more important then mine it seems. I offered him a compromise.

Either meet my time, or if I am forced to compromise then he should be forced to compromise.

As Guardian of the Seventh till Draco fails me,

::copied from the original mail::

Elijah,

So, your schedule is indeed flexible. 'Tis wonderous that we will be able to meet at this date, October 13th. It appears, however, you are choosing to be spiteful and purposefully seeking arguement. Either I choose a time I cannot duel, or I adhere to a referee I find unsuitable and biased. Please, Baron, where lies the maturity in this?

I'm delighted at your choice of time, and I agree to it wholeheartedly. It's excellent for me. However, choosing the single referee I have issue with is more shallow than I originally thought you. You have, though, proven that you can duel at a reasonable time. We both agree on a time, and we may now move to the next "phase" of this struggle, the referee.

To say you cannot duel at the preferred date without that specific caller is ludicrous. I'm sure others, including the Council and the Supervisor, will see the pure spite in this demand. I would ask you be cooperative in this, as you finally--thankfully--were on the date and time. I'm allowing you to choose the date, time, place, AND referee, with the single request that your selection not be the one called Stormi. I'm being more than cooperative,
flexible, and reasonable in this request.

For the respect of the ring you bear, act in a matter befitting of its symbolism.

I recall the outrage expressed when the most honorable Alais was held with the same contempt that is now being cast upon Stormi.

I find the claim that a dueling ref would be unsuitable and biased an unfounded insult that is worthy of an apology.

Any referee under the employment of the Arena, including Stormi, should be acceptable.

Of course, it is merely my opinion, but one that I believe in.

Baron Ecore, Warlrod Lupton, Baron Council, and DoS Supervisor;

Eagle, Lupton, Baron Council, and DoS Supervisor;
When I was informed of this Challenge I explicitly informed Baron Ecore that Warlord Lupton would not agree to me as the Official at this match. I further offered Baron Ecore the name of another RDI, which I spoke with, that would be able officiate at the given time and one that Warlord Lupton would agree to.
I hold no ill will or bias towards Warlord Lupton and I am honored the Baron Ecore requested my services. But I refuse to be abused as a pawn within this battle of egos betwixt the Baron and Warlord.
My services are hereby withdrawn as Official of this Challenge. I wish both the Baron and Warlord well in their endeavors.

Sincerely,
~RDI Stormi~

Warlord Lupton,

No time has been agreed to, I was giving you options. Since you did not agree with my terms of my options, then there is no agreement. I will see you at October 6th at 3:00 PM Eastern to commence this challenge.

Cygnet:

Alais was being tormented by insignificant little twits who simply couldn't believe that Dalamar was that good.

That is a far different circumstance than a situation where a dueler and an official might bear one another great animosity. Rest assured, there are any number of officials whom I would flatly refuse to allow to call a challenge match for me, and I would hope that, in their own recognition of that bad blood between us, they would voluntarily recuse themselves from calling that duel. Stormi, to her credit, seems to have done just that. In any
event, I would most certainly refuse the services of an official I flat-out disliked. This is a challenge match, and I don't want someone calling it and dearly hoping I lose.

By your overall logic of "any official should be acceptable," Cygnet, when Luthien and I were married, someone would have had some right to be outraged if I were involved in a challenge and my opponent demanded that Luthien not call the duel. In reality, of course, during that time Luthien should have been -barred- from calling -any- official duel I was involved in; I, at least, had the sense to simply refuse to allow it. Obviously, your
generalized opinion on this issue has some weaknesses.

Ian Rex.

Slowly, the quill glides over the parchment with her simple one-sentence reply, although she had until now been loathe to make one public comment upon this issue.

Drey... your acceptance of the date offered was comment enough, no?

Good sir, Ian,

Point well taken.

The familiar squeek of an insignificant little twit was heard, but I concede to your broader view.

Lemme say this... When I talked to him, at the same time he was sending missive of when the challenge shall be met - Without my concern nor him asking if indeed it was alright.

>your acceptance of the date offered was comment enough, no?
>

It was shaky whether or not I could make the date. I argued with him for several minutes over it, even for a 15 minute raise. No. Whatever, I agreed, and If I wasn't there, I would have made a -big- stink.

I agreed only to -his- and -Elijah's- tradition. The challenged shall set the date. I even asked numerous amounts of people upon the subject. Most of them said he was full of it.

But that's the past, I don't really care now. Lupton has been defined.
