Let it be known that on the twenty-fourth evening of this moon, I did officiate a duel between the Warlord Zen Rising and the Fourth Baron of the Duel of Swords, Seamus Mac Donnaugh. At stake was the Baron's title, and as the Warlord had held the same title twice in the past, it was indeed a hotly contested match.

The Warlord fought independent of House affiliations, banners, colors, or declared Second. Lisana Tiralis stood as Honored Lady.

The Baron fought under the banner of the former Scots Pride, with the colors of burgundy, tan and forest green. The Seventh Baron, Zamhulem, stood as Second, and the War Mistress Banda as Lady of Honor.

The match progressed as follows:

Round One:
The Warlord begins with a cautious circular parry, but finds that the Baron has moved aside very quickly, gaining a point. ((cp/fss))
Score: Warlord Rising 0, Baron Mac Donnaugh 1

Round Two:
Although the long Scottish claymore is nae a weapon to fall short of its mark, Zen's curved blade is faster, and scores over the stop hit with a high cut.
Score: Warlord Rising 1, Baron Mac Donnaugh 1

Round Three:
Seamus leans in to speak to Zen, and Zen leans in with a very ((fancy)) low duck. Then, the claymore cuts low, scoring the point before Zen can move away!
Score: Warlord Rising 1, Baron Mac Donnaugh 2

Round Four:
Undeterred, Zen's curved blade responds with a low cut of its own, striking right through the skillfully ((fancily)) laterally parrying claymore and tying the score!
Score: Warlord Rising 2, Baron Mac Donnaugh 2

Round Five:
Seamus ducks mightily ((fancily)), but Zen is riding on momemtum, and his thrust strikes true!
Score: Warlord Rising 3, Baron Mac Donnaugh 2

Round Six:
Mayhaps expecting a high cut, Zen's curved blade moves laterally, with a fancy twist... but the claymore cuts low, earning the point and tying the score at three!
Score: Warlord Rising 3, Baron Mac Donnaugh 3

Round Seven:
Seamus thrusts outward, but reaches only air as Zen slides neatly ((fancily)) away!
Score: Warlord Rising 4, Baron Mac Donnaugh 3

Round Eight:
Zen, a repeat Baron himself, calls upon experience and decides upon a risky maeuver. With a quick-moving slash he strikes... but nae quick enough to avoid the strike of a high cut from Seamus!
Score: Warlord Rising 4, Baron Mac Donnaugh 4

Round Nine:
Both men hope to end the match on a bloodless note, play the odds and step aside ((fss/fss)) - with Seamus apparently heading toward the bar - but neither scores.
Score: Warlord Rising 4, Baron Mac Donnaugh 4

Round Ten:
Seamus sweeps the claymore low once again, but Zen is prepared this time with a circular parry!
Score: Warlord Rising 4.5, Baron Mac Donnaugh 4

Round Eleven:
Both men remain calm, delivering defensive maneuvers designed to win or prolong this match. Seamus wards off what he hopes will be a return low cut ((cp))... and looks up to see that the Warlord has stepped away for the win!
Score: Warlord Rising 5, Baron Mac Donnaugh 4

And so it was that Zen Rising did thrice take possession of the title of Fourth Baron of the Duel of Swords, and declared it Loyal to the Overlord Shiv Blade.

Dutifully submitted,

Returning from official business, the Duchess peruses the boards, finding the announcement. Upon reading the results, a wide grin brightens her features and she quickly takes up quill and parchment...

Zen~

Well done, dear friend, well done! I wish I had been there to see it. It looks to have been a grand an honorable fight.

Fondly,
~Sid

Another excellent duel! Good for both of you! Seamus, I am glad that you held a ring again. You are most certainly worthy of one. As I am sure that you will hold one again I shall refrain from mawkish condolence and congratulate you on a fine duel, won or lost.
Zen, my friend and brother, I am glad to see you wearing a ring again. It was an excellent win in a grueling fight against a formidable opponent. Try to hold onto it this time.

Just returning, Jaycy sees the announcement and sniffles a moment, as she was unable to see the match itself. She pens a note to the two.

Seamy,

Finely tried, hon, I hope to see you on Council again soon....

Zen,
Congratulations on a fine win, and may yer reign be long and fruitful.
