Overlord Challenge

Community,
I wish to express some views. At some point I know I have said them, but I think they need to be repeated. Mostly about testing. I must say, and all know, that I disagreed with the barons actions. Yet, here is what I wish to explain.
I fully understand the reason why people intercede. In truth I have no problems with it. If someone were to make a character judgment about my friend, I too would intercede. Afterall they are my friend. A character judgment is always debatable. Where I see ones actions as okay, another may see them wrong. Yet, in this last situation, I tried my hardest to make it perfectly clear, that I was not making such a judgment. My thoughts were simply to give
him the chance to "earn" his tenth perwin. It was no surprise to me that one would step in for him. Upon doing so, I asked a simple question. Why? The answer, simply that he was a friend.
Now it is time for me to say something about this. How ignorant. If that is the sole reason you stepped in, then you truly have no business holding the ring. Now before you get all tight over that, I will explain. I too have had to make judgments against friends. While on the council, I voted to strip Lucian of a ring. Lucian, a man that was my house mate, and on the Oakenshield team. A close man to me. Yet, I upheld the honor, and respect the
sport. Just like Jeff said, we must put the sport first. At least he said something to the effect. It pained us that we would have to strip him of a ring, but it was the right thing to do. If anyone was unable to see that this man should have been tested, then they need to get a clue. I did not make any judgment on him. I never talked down about him. I simply tried to uphold the sport. Something many claim to do by interceding. Pure and simple, it
was wrong to intercede. The mere fact that the reason the intercession took place was to back up a friend is wrong. Should that guy have raped someone, and got caught, would you back him up? would you say that he doesn't deserve repercussions? Hell no, you would do what is right, and lock him up. Same situation.
Now, for those that don't know, the new baron has challenged. How utterly disgusting. The only reason he would go loyal was to get this chance. Would you step in this time? For everyone and there sister knows I will test again. Would you step in knowing what he did was wrong. His trickery proves this. His sole reason for going loyal was to get banished. We all know this. His only wish is to get a chance at the crown. Can you provide a reason why you
would intercede this time? To back up a friend? To back up a cheat, a manipulator? If you do, it would be no surprise that it will say more about you than anyone else knows. And yes, this is not just directed at one. I am asking for a valid reason why someone would step in this time. Surly, you all must see that a wrong has been done here.
Again, as expected, I will test. I knew after hearing his loyalty his sole reasons. I am sure everyone did. I wonder how Cletus felt after hearing it. Surly he realized that he helped him. That he helped someone who would then manipulate the situation to get a chance at me. Can you live with that? Again, these are not attacks, but questions I ask you. As of now I have not picked my tester, but I will be thinking on the subject. For those that think
I hide, I offer this fact. I have never lost to this Baron. I have no reason to hide. I use the test in this situation, because he doesn't deserve the chance to get the crown. Anyone that sees it the other way, must be blind.

Pretty simply put,
The challenger, whom most think is some sort of idiot, was sly and clever enough to fool you. He outmaneuvered you and now you're seeking to stack the deck in your favor by playing a guilt trip on people so he won't have anyone to back him up.
I'll tell you right now, I'd back him up for the pure pleasure of hearing you whine some more. Win or lose on my part is of non-importance, the fact that someone would be willing to back a challenger who is savvy enough to know the game better than yourself, is victory enough for me.
I don't know this kid from Adam, but he has the stones enough to not feel the need to kowtow To you for the amusement of the masses of sheep. I personally don't care how well liked you, or any other overlord, is or were because sometimes you just have to say "screw it" and buck the system.
As a matter of fact...I have the strangest notion that you're going to lose this match.
I can easily see this kid as the next overlord.
He's not only going to do it against the wishes of the mindless majority, he's going to do it because he's flimflammed you and has you psyched out.

So, was Damien allowed to be Loyal?

Sir Damein, has shown an astounding amound of audacity until now. In a time of polite challenges I have in a twisted way, revelled in how much of an unprincipled cad, this kid is. Using a forfeiture as a PW, insulting every PW he gathered. It's very funny.
Take care Damien, you are pushing your image over the line, your actions which I once found disturbing I now find simply bratty and assinine. To be feared is one thing, to be hated even can be dealt with, but to be laughed at is fatal.
That being said Avery is going to tear you apart. To be honest, I hope he doesnt, but squeaks by with a narrow victory. I want something left of you to kick around at my leisure. You are a rolling punchline sir, and on the narrow chance that you manage to rise to the top rung, know that it will be my full intent to knock you off, and laugh as you fall.

Damien is a punk kid who doesn't deserve the right to hold any kind of title. Cletus' actions that night of the challenge shows him to be selfish, as well. I dislike people who put themselves over the sport, and those two are dishonoring the vast history with his comical debacle.
No doubt Cletus approves highly of his "friend" challenging for Overlord. Needless to say, Damien won't get it, and if the boy does, he'll have to deal with me.

Simply, no. I don't know how anyone could have not seen this coming. Everyone did. Fool me? I seriously doubt it. I only allowed him to play his cards, believing in the end that I hold the stronger hand. I knew this was coming, everyone did. Anyway, if you step in, that is fine. If not, I will see you on the sidelines as we watch our team duel, in the dueling league. See you later partner.

I had some odd feeling, honestly, that something like this was going to happen.
However, I don't think Damien did it because he thought he was clever, but because someone was there to push him along to do it. Of course, that's just a guess.
Both sides on this matter will be turning to the rules, because both sides will want to take advantage of them so they get the upper hand. It depends how each person uses the rules properly which will determine who actually has a means in the end.
As much as I'd like to say how each side will get an advantage if they play it in a certain way, I am going to refrain because I do not want to, in any way, assist Damien in his joke of a challenge.

Eh... having looked over my previous post, it seemd it may have been slightly misleading. I didnt mean to imply I wanted Damien to win, only to say that he shouldnt lose by too much, so I can still give him a profuse beating without pangs of consience.
That being said, I DID mean to imply that if this jackass wins there will be a scramble among the Barons to challenge him. I intend to be a MAJOR part of that scramble.

I love how this gets pinned on me despite the fact that I had no knowledge of it. Keep the insults coming. Ever since Damien challenged it has been you all who looked like the childish, immature babies who cry when something doesn't go their way.
Keep on talking because frankly I don't give a damn what you have to say.

Avery if ya do test I would find it most fittin if Cas was allowed ta be the one doin the testin. I am sure this time he's ready for it. I know Cas feels bad about losing to him last time and Cas heh don't feel bad his skill with the blade is not in question. Not from what I have seen anyhow.

Don't act so surprised like you're the victim. You knew full well what you were doing as soon as you heard Damien was challenging. You even sent a letter stating you'd step in if Avery chose to test Damien. You obviously don't care for the Sport of DoS. And now are trying to play it off like you're some sort of noble martyr, when you clearly aren't. You made a mistake by defending someone so clearly incompitant and undeserving. Now you're
attempting to say that you had no knowledge of any of this.
Only a complete and total ignoramus would say they didn't know Damien was going to challenge Avery as soon as he was banished to Renegade. Are you ready to claim you're that ignorant?

Come now Billy are you so old and decrepit that the only way you can find your way into the political arena is by taking up the cause of one that is an utter fool? The once proclaimed champion of overlords has now stooped so far to be the champion of fools? I have always respected and been in awe of your abillities, but I find this stance totally deplorable, and though most would be shy to step up and say so, I do feel
your begging to be a part of things a bit sad. Please train more and come back on your own merits and cause havoc, but trying this stance of yours is utterly disgusting and sad to see. Be the man you once were and do not take this cause to heart just to be able to put those sap gloves on once more in an importatnt bout, earn it!!!
