Patrons,

I'll attempt to make this notice as short and painless as possible. Effective in roughly 24 hours, I will tender my resignation from the post as Duel of Swords Supervisor. The reason is that I simply feel it's time to move on. After three years and a few months of work in the Arena, a few thousand duels (I never really kept count), and roughly twenty or so challenge matches called, I've decided to spend the majority of my time with the people who
matter most to me, my family.
For the past few months, I have been grooming my son, Val Evermeadow, to be my successor. Some of you may have met him, some have not. I am confident in his abilities to run this task, and even more confident in the energy and focus he will be able to dedicate to improving the Arena. Try not to break him for a few months, please, his mother would be very sad.
Perhaps I'll see some of you around from time to time. If not, I hope you all continue to enjoy your time in the Arena and in the other dueling venues as well. It has been a fun ride.

P.S. One last note that I promised I'd write about. On this past Thursday, January 6, Marius Colestae was victorious in a match over Drey Starke after successfully performing a fancy stop hit. He was rather proud of his winning with this manuever.

Farewell, Golden, you did well.

I have a concern, however. Will the position of Supervisor become something entitled by birth? As if royalty? Nepitism at its best?

I'm sure Val will do a great job (whoever he is, I've never seen him calling), but I'm worried about the future of the position, and selecting future Supervisors.

Rest assured thine tenure shall be remembered. Tis certain that thine lovely lady wife shall be pleased that thee shall be able to devote more time to hearth and home.

I hae had the opportunity to meet thine son. He appears a fione young man and seeming one who hae a mind of his own. One canst but hope he shows himself of stern backbone and intestinal fortitude, and dost require of those officials who shall be under his supervision that they present a more professional demeanor and manner as well ast respect for those that yet venture into the basement to participate in this ancient sport.

The manner in which some of the female officials conduct themselves in the basement whilst purportedly officiating wouldst be better suited to be observed in perhaps one of Rhydin's bordellos or the Inn above stairs rather than within these ancient halls. Tis well known that the inn above stairs dost contain manna rooms and room keys aire nae all that costly.

One may observe certain of these females, hugging, cuddling, kissing and otherwise comporting themselves in a much less than professional manner upon the couches amidst the rings whilst in uniform. Though it is always amusing to observe a desperate female, the comedic factor ist o'erstretched somewhat when tis some begin to caterwaul various announcement much ast a wind up doll whilst others whilst in uniform do comport themselves upon the laps of
officials amidst their duties.

Were this the Duel of Romance or a convention of streetwalkers, perhaps their manner would be deemed acceptable, indeed, e'en considered ast being professional. However, tis mine opinion that such comportment upon the part of officials whilst purporting to be acting in their official capacity lends credence to the assertions oft heard that the once proud Duel of Swords may be likened unto a ladies garden party or perhaps the front parlor of one of
the local bordellos.

Tis rather hypocritical for officials to demand respect whilst at the same time deporting themselves in a manner utterly disrespectful to both this ancient bloodsport as well ast to those that enter and lift blade within these ancient rings.

It dost nae speak well for this ancient sport when those whose chosen duty be to present themselves ast capable and competent officials hae shown themselves upon repeated occasion much less than able to perform their duties. It dost reflect poorly upon this once proud cavern, this ancient sport ast well ast the community at large.
