Results of the Challenge for the Twelfth Baronial Ring of th

Last evening, April eighteen, I was honored to witness a challenge match between Xeric Mues and Cassius Gaius Maximius for the right to bear the Twelfth Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords.

Cassius dueled under the traditional banner: A double-headed eagle, clutching bundles of arrows in it's talons, the Latin words S P Q R inscribed in gold below it, on a white background. His colors were a simple red and white. His second, who was absent, was the lady Drakewyn Alasbaster Silvertree; his Ladies of Honor were his wife, Laylla Maximius and their daughter Aurelia.

The Baron, Xeric, dueled under the flag of the Black Dragons Division in the House Rebirth, which is a black flag, with a red dragon in the center, and the name Rebirth under it in red. He had two seconds, neither of which attended. His dueling second was Steven Barbosa, and his other second was Anfer the Lion. His Lady of Honor, also absent, was his wife Jade Mues.

The first round saw the Warlord score with a quick and painful looking cut, and he had the early lead. (R1: FSS/HC, 1-0 Cas) A break was taken in the second round as they both parried, and low. (R2: FCP/FCP, 1-0 Cas) Then when the third was finished, Cassius scored again, for the second time striking swiftly! (R3: LC/TH, 2-0 Cas)

Another round without a score happened (R4: FDU- Xeric/FSS- Cas, 2-0 Cas) before Xeric secured his first point. (R5: LC/SH, 2-1 Cas) But it wasn't long to last as Cassius outstepped Xeric and regained the two point lead. (R6: FCP/FSS, 3-1 Cas)

At this point, Xeric scored again (R7: TH/LC, 3-2 Cas) and it looked like these two would seesaw back and forth. But no! The last two rounds were Cassius' as he first thrust, then low cut, for the win! (R8: HC/TH, 4-2 Cas, R9: FSS/LC, 5-2 Cas)

Thus, in nine rounds, Cassius Gaius Maximius defeated Xeric Mues for the right to bear the Twelfth Ring, with a score of Five to Two. The new Baron aligned himself Loyal to the Overlord, Avery Shiv Blade.

I would like to congratulate Cas on the victory, and I was intended to be Xeric's second, but I would still like to congratulate you. On a side note, I was just wondering how I was named 'Anfer the Lion', just curious. Congrats agian Cas.
