Warlord Tournament
From: hostpcgcharlie@aol.com (HOST PCG Charlie)
Date: 17 Nov 2001 08:43:42 EST
It's that time again. This is the second to last weekend of the cycle which means the Warlord Tournament will be held on December 3rd and 4th, starting at 9 PM (est).
All that's in the pot at the moment is an intercession free shot at Overlord Seamus MacDonnaugh. By winning the tournament, you will have automatically accomplished what two of his three challengers have failed to -- you will face the Overlord in the ring.
Registration is currently open and will be open until 11:59 PM on December 2nd.
Have a good weekend!

I look forward to seeing all contenders at the WL Tournament. These tournaments are at least to me, the best times of the year in the DoS.

My bias? How so?
You people keep forgetting that I could not care less what you do with your little titles.

"Two out of three challengers" ring a bell?
"You people keep forgetting that I could not care less what you do with your

You are remarkably arrogant for someone who hasn't proven that they're worth anything.

"'Two out of three challengers' ring a bell?"
It was a true statement. I'm sure that this tournament won't bring many entries because there aren't any rings up for grabs. I wanted to try to start some excitement by showing that they could do something eve barons had failed to.
I don't care who is Overlord. Give it to that panzy elf fellow for all I care. Listening to you all whine and moan if he had it would be amusing.
"You are remarkably arrogant for someone who hasn't proven that they're worth anything."
I don't know what your problem is, Cas. I don't have to prove my worth to you and don't expect me to do so anytime soon. Your opinion means absolutely nothing to me.
G thinks I'm worth a lot. My calendar keeps bringing him money. My husband thinks I'm worth a lot. Those are the only two opinions that I care about.
I'm on a leave of absence at the moment. I'm hardly ever in the Arena. I get the Warlord Rankings up on time. As long as those rankings are up on time, what else do I owe you people? Absolutely nothing.
I have never once claimed that what I have to say holds any weight in the Arena; nor do I care that it doesn't. So if I'm arrogant, I hate to think what you'd label Avery.
I'm sorry you take this so seriously. I don't.

One good official is worth more than the idiot who thinks holding a title suddenly makes him worthy.
Keep in mind, the title doesn't bring the worth to the person. The person brings the worth to the title.

She's a decent official. But I've seen better in my time here. And frankly, I don't think that someone who is so willing to make such crass comments about the revered titles and traditions about our bloodsport is really someone who should be making decisions. But this is not a call to defrock anybody..just a Roman veteran's opinion.
As for my worth..first off, I never said I was worth anything, which you will notice if you actually do this simple thing called "reading".
I simply stated that Charlie hasn't proven she has either. Me stating that Charlie has not proven herself does not equal me stating that I have.
Second off, what does decide stature around here, Var? The old standby of "excellent conduct in and out of the rings" doesn't really hold up to intense study. Really, DoS is dvidied behavior-wise into only two categories..morons who are deemed unacceptable by all..and everybody else. Not to mention, this community's eye of judgement is rather jaundiced indeed.
I look back at the times when I sweated about acceptance in this community, and I can only shake my head and say "Why"?
Now, I duel, and I act as my heart tells me,
and those who have been my friends for years
remain my friends, and those who never liked me still don't like me. Changing can only lose my friends..it would never win over my enemies. So, if you want to declare in-ring accomplishment as an unjust measuring stick for stature in the DoS, I'm perfectly fine with it...as long as you have an acceptable replacement system. And by acceptable, I do not mean the usual "These guys are the best..because they're my friends".
And that kind of leads us back to Charlie Jericho. What annoys me about Jericho the most is how she has spent virtually this entire
year as the mouthpiece for Cletus's group of
friends. She sung his praises when she was Overlord, and now she actively complains about the man who took him down. She spent a lot of time belittling his enemies, and handing out venomous opinions..and now she wonders why I would have a problem with her.
When you dance in the line of fire...you get hit.
Now Var, I don't appreciate the idiot comment, but I don't really want to burn trees
by trading insults with you. So I tell you what:
Next time you feel a burning need to deride me and let the world know your opinion of me,
let's you and me get in the ring, each ring of ours on the line, loser vacates. That way, you can let your rapier sing your opinions, not your quill.

Have you lost your mind, Cas? None of that is true.
I'm not "dancing in the line of fire". I don't want to have anything to do with the fire. I have absolutely no idea what any of this is about. I've never been involved in anything political around here.
Who has ever heard me stood up for Cletus? When have I ever handed out "venomous opinions"? Who in their right mind would describe me as "venomous"? The only things that I put on this board is the weekly Duelist of the Week.
For most of the year and a half that I lived in RhyDin, I couldn't stand Cletus. My only connection with him is that I was on his TDL team for a season.
It's pathetic that you are so bored with a lack of something to argue about that you are turning on the callers now. While normally I wouldn't care what you had to say about me, it ticks me off to be accused of allowing any kind of bias to interfere with my job, especially when there is absolutely no bias present.
I work hard at any job that I take on and you have no reason to accuse me of not doing my job to the best of my ability. I deserve an apology. I've just about had it. Chris is right. The money you get paid here really isn't worth this.
Find somebody who has heard me say anything bad about Seamus and I'll send Nych my resignation tomorrow. I find the old guy funny. Go ask him if he has any problem with me. The only time that we've even jokingly butted heads is over his tendency to call me "Charlotte", instead of "Charlie".
What reason do I have to be bias against him? Seamus and I have always gotten along.
Find something else to do. You have no proof because it's simply not true.

"As for my worth..first off, I never said I was worth anything, which you will notice if you actually do this simple thing called "reading"."
I am sorry that you tell me to read, when I in no way stated in my notes that you said you were worth something. Two can play the vague game. Oh, and I suggest you read, as it is apparently so simple.
"Now Var, I don't appreciate the idiot comment, but..."
Again, you should read the sentence you just wrote before: when you dance in the line of fire, you get hit. Also, I again apologize that you take on the burden of calling yourself the idiot. I was speaking generally, but it was nice of you to single yourself out.
As for your kind offer about vacating the ring over a duel, no thank you. If you look at our challenges, you can see that either one of us can win, and how we duel in the ring doesn't make either less worthy to hold the title. However, I do think you're unworthy because I don't like you. No duel will change that.
With that noted:
While I'm sure Charlie can take care of herself, I'm beginning to get tired of honest, hard working officials questioned. She's biased, who cares?
I'm biased. There are times I am watching a duel and I want someone to win. If I don't show any interest in the duel, I'd be just some mindless drone and would hate the job. However, just because there is someone I want to win doesn't mean I would ever be dishonest or lower my sense of responsibility for the match. Even if Charlie doesn't like Seamus (which I doubt, Seamus is one of the greatest Overlords, in my opinion), there's no crime in her
disliking him. We don't get paid to like you, and our contracts don't include our souls as part of the deal.
Anyhow, the point is any good official, no matter how often he/she duels, has just as much a say as anyone else.

Charlotte,
Don't be sending Nych any resignation.
I see the statement as fact, only one of the three rapid fire challenges has made it to the ring so you speak truth.
Let us move beyond the petty differences and cheer on the warlords in what will prove to be an interesting event.
Keep up the good work and don't let it get you down. Do as I and take the criticism as water on a ducks back, let it roll off.

Charlie...
Afor ye be gettin' too upset 'bout what th' Roman says, remember who he be. Quick tae give insult an' slow tae understand th' ways o' others.
As fer me comment, 'twas meant in a half-joking manner... fer I know well yer quick temper an' strong opinions. It jest be thet I do think th' Overlord has taken more than his fair share o' insults of late, an' I suppose thet I be a bit quick tae see insults on account o' thet.
I find ye tae be much more than adequate as an official here. Yer handlin' o' the Warlord Rankin's be th' best thets been seen in quite some time. T'would also be quite a bit more borin' without people like ye down in th' Arena.

To all:
Grosses bisses.
I have heard it is wise not to bite a gift horse in the mouth. Unless he wants you to, but then no one will explain that to me so you all have to figure that one for yourselves. I think it has something to do with garlic?
Anysorts, thy should adore the caller. The person sitting through your long idiotic duel and then smiling at the end - you know the part where you ignore them and just rant about how you should have won?
The part where the caller has taken the better part of a day, and you posture and snort that you are too good for this? Fie!
Charlie, calling is a witch. But luv, I promise you this, there is magic to calling too.
